5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music, 19 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I used to own an LP of one of Berglund's recordings of Sibelius. When I saw these recordings I just had to buy them, because Berglund (to me at least) he managed to extract more of the mood of the music than any other conductor. Beautiful music and well recorded.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Versions by a non-Russian Orchestra, 17 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are beautifully played and recorded. It is probably true that some of the other versions recorded by Russian Orchestras sound more authentic and are closer to Shostakovich's intentions, but it is marginal, and these versions benefit from the best recorded sound. The CDs are very nicely packaged in a cardboard box with individual paper/polythene sleeves with a decent booklet including full translations of the lyrics, just as LPs used to be. Exemplary! All boxed sets should be produced like this instead of those fragile, bulky jewel cases.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music, 17 July 2013

Everybody who loves classical symphonies should own a set of Haydn's London symphonies. The merits of the different versions are reviewed in depth by more qualified listeners elsewhere, but for me, I believe that Harnoncourt brings his experience in conducting period bands playing authentic instruments to these recordings featuring a modern orchestra. Simply beautiful music which is well recorded too. The CDs are conveniently packaged in a neat cardboard box with cardboard sleeves.

Braun Series 3 340s-4 Wet & Dry Electric Shaver

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent shaver, 17 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the fourth or fifth Braun shaver I have owned and is definitely the best. It doesn't shave as well as a traditional wet razor, but as I have sensitive skin it works extremely well. I personally like the flip off plastic cap that protects the blades and the red warning light that flashes when the battery needs charging. The long hair trimmer also works well. Experience tell me that Philishave users won't like it, so if you're one, don't buy it.

This review is from: Holst: The Planets (Audio CD)
This CD is recommended by the Gramophone, which probably says it all. The music is beautifully recorded and played, but there are no fillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent camera, 22 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As the satisfied owner of a Fuji F31FD I have long had a list of"improvements" that could be made to it. These included easily accessible exposure compensation, ISO adjustment and brighter, wider lens. The X10 is the camera that matches this list of ideals and is an excellent upgrade to the F31FD. It just about fits into the Lowepro 60 AW pouch with room for the strap, spare battery and lens cloth, although the resulting combination require a large pocket to carry it in. The results I have obtained so far have been more than satisfactory and I am extremely pleased with it. Having read of the "white orb" problem without experiencing it in my own shots I set out to produce a photo with these blemishes and succeeded, but I don't think it will concern me overly much or detract from my enjoyment of using the camera.

Since writing the original review, I have sent the camera back to Fuji who replaced the sensor FOC. Brilliant service! I also downloaded the firmware which amongst other things reassigned the Raw button, changing it to a quick menu. Still use it to take stunning pictures. So good I'm considering buying an X30.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant piece of kit!, 23 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was attempt No 3 at getting a functional keyring torch - No 1 fell to pieces on the keyring and tiny lithium batteries went everywhere! No 2 was a brilliant sturdy torch but the flimsy metalware keyring attachment broke on first use. (Neither bought from Amazon.) However, this has proved to be a real winner. The beam is good and strong, it is easy to operate once you get the hang of twisting the bottom of the torch clockwise (instruction is in v small print on torch), good sturdy clip and joy of joys, just one AAA battery!

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended Reading, 21 Aug. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Essential reading for every Christian with clear and accesible explanations of just about every important doctrine. Only the odd minor quibble (eg about Creation being prepared before the six days of completion) and one or two illustrations which will in time date the book. Thoroughly recommended.
