Duronic HDS3 Mini 3 Port Gold HDMI Auto Switch PIANO BLACK 3x1 (3 way input 1 output HDMI Switcher)
Offered by DURONIC
Price: £49.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple elegant and effective solution to multiple HDMI sources., 15 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have an old TV, which has only one HDMI port which I use it in a room without access to terrestrial or cable programmes to play from a DVD player. I now also use a Fire TV Stick and my Duronic HDS3 Mini 3 Port Gold HDMI Auto Switch allows me to keep both permanently wired.
The box is just 5cm square and about 1.5cm high. On three sides there are HDMI input ports and on the fourth a HDMI output port. My Fire stick plugs directly into one of the input ports and the DVD player into another with a 10cm HDMI cable; another 10cm HDMI cable connects the output port to the TV. Input is switched between the two sources at the press of a button.
A simple elegant and effective solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peppermint tea is delicious as a digestive after a meal, 14 Dec. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
If, like me, you enjoy flavoured teas, but sometimes can’t be bothered to make a single cup, PG Tips Nespresso Compatibles Peppermint Capsules could be for you.
I have used a Nespresso Pixie Clips Coffee Capsule Coffee Machine with Aeroccino by KRUPS, Black/Yellow Neon for some time to make coffee, so I was intrigued to try it out to make tea, and was very pleased to find it works beautifully. Using the Lungo setting delivers a cup of tea at just the right strength, and the Peppermint flavour is also just right. Peppermint tea is also delicious as a digestive after a meal.

Nero 2016 Platinum (PC)
Nero 2016 Platinum (PC)
Price: £50.05

4.0 out of 5 stars Nero 2016 Platinum offers a fully functional media suite at a really excellent price., 3 Dec. 2015
This review is from: Nero 2016 Platinum (PC) (CD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Nero has been around since the first CD writers hit the market and, at that time, was just about the only consumer application available that made using them simple. Over the years, Nero has evolved to take in new optical disk technologies, and Nero 2016 Platinum is now a multi-function media suite with tools for organising, editing, converting and playing, in addition to burning, your media files.
Staring Nero brings up the welcome screen/launcher, which is organised into five sections: "Manage & Play", "Edit & Convert", "Rip & Burn", "Backup & Rescue" and "Extras" providing a gateway into the suite. Application home screens and file drop zones make it easier to take a project from start to finish.
Nero MediaHome, is a cloud-based system for storing all your media files and picking them up from any of your devices. The geotagging feature allows you to stick with your camera’s tags or add your own, then use them to create videos and slideshows around a particular location.
Nero Video provides tools for quick and simple video editing that helps you create impressive movies. The “Express” mode is great for just stitch a few clips together, but the “Advanced” mode adds transitions and effects for making really good looking productions. Nero 2016 Platinum adds the ability to stream video, music and pictures from your Android and iOS phone, tablet or PC, directly to your TV.
Once you have edited your video, movies can be rendered to watch on your PC or online and the authoring system can be used to burn DVD and Blu-ray disks; with support for 4K. The authoring tool in the package lets you create professional-looking menus and navigation tools with text and graphics.
Nero has tools for photo editing, but they are very basic; there are many better, good value, packages around.
Nero Burning ROM, and is a brilliant tool for burning CD, DVD or Blu-ray disks. Built-in encryption can be used to protect files, and the suite allows you to split content to burn it to multiple discs. As you would expect from Nero, disc burning is excellent.
Nero Recode rips audio and video files, converting them to other formats, to play on a variety of devices, or for burning them to disc. “AirBurn” provides the facility to burn files direct from your smartphone via wireless transfer to a PC.
The one-click conversion tool is very useful. Simply connect the destination device to the computer, put the disc in the drive, and the suite will convert DVD videos, AVCHDs, and audio CDs directly into the format for any mobile device.
The audio section of the software allows for easy editing and enhancing of music files; normalise; de-click; noise reduction; a 10-band graphic equalizer, and more.
Support is provided by user forum, knowledge base and online user guides backed-up by e-mail support.
The one real problem I have with Nero, and it seems to get worse with each new version, is that unless you are very careful during installation, it will make itself the default application for every single file type it is capable of opening. Not a problem if you have no other applications, but if you do, and you let it happen, it will take a lot of work to get back to where you started.
Although Nero provides a number of very useful tools, none of them are unique and, apart from Nero Burning Rom, none of them are the best applications of their type available. However, having said that, the premium alternatives are each many times more expensive than the whole Nero package.
If you don’t have, or can’t afford specialist products, Nero 2016 Platinum offers a fully functional media suite at a really excellent price.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works for me and I am very impressed with its simple functionality., 30 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Portable devices always seem to run out of power at the most inconvenient time and in the most inconvenient place. A power bank is an excellent way to recharge the device without the need of mains power.
I found simple to use and it does exactly what it says on the box. On the of of the unit are two sockets, a USB in and a USB out and, a neat feature, and LED light that can be used as a torch by pressing and holding the display button.
Once charged, using any USB charger and the supplied cable, the power bank, just 95mm x 50mm x 22mm, can be stored in a convenient place, such as a glove box or handbag until needed. An LED display, activated by a small push button on the side, shows the percentage charge held. As this is only two digits, it stops at 99, but that isn’t a problem.
To recharge a portable device, just connect to the power bank with the USB cable and power flows automatically. The indicator on the power bank shows how much charge remains.
Then, all you need to do is to recharge the power bank ready for the next time you need it.
The Inov8 4400 mAh Lithium-Ion is the only pre-charged power bank I’ve ever used, so have nothing to compare it to. Having said that, it works for me and I am very impressed with its simple functionality.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer Nude 6.8ml
Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer Nude 6.8ml

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use once you have mastered getting the right amount on the applicator sponge., 30 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My wife said: “Directions for application are in the in fold over on the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer tube are in very small print and difficult to read, even with reading glasses (not normally used).
The applicator is extremely easy to use once you have mastered getting the right amount on the sponge, however several applications are needed to cover dark rings and blemishes. Once applied, normal makeup on top does make for a caked effect. Because of the amount used I developed a sensitivity and irritation around my eyes; because of this I haven’t tried to use it again.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Where it really scores for me is that it is small and neat and looks like a proper light bulb., 27 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I’ve been using low-energy light bulbs for some time now. I have to say I’ve been very unimpressed with the fluorescent type; even the latest versions are slow to start and take time to reach maximum output. Added to that, they unattractive, especially when used in a hanging fitment and give a rather orange light.
LED technology has made a huge difference and the Liteway 5W ES E27 Candle LED Bulb is a case in point. It is very impressive; as soon as it is turned it delivers maximum illumination and the warm, white light is very easy on the eyes. But where it really scores for me is that it is small and neat and looks like a proper light bulb.

4.0 out of 5 stars Runners will love the Gibson Trainer headphones; they’re comfortable, secure, weather resistant and good for listening to music., 24 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
There’s no doubt that music helps keep you going when you’re exercising, whether it’s a brisk walk, a run or an intensive gym session. However, if your music is on your smartphone, you have to contend with uncomfortable in-ear or on-ear headphones and a trailing cable. For me, the best solution is wireless, on-ear headphones, but there aren’t many good ones around.
Trainer by Gibson TH100 are relatively small framed, Bluetooth wireless, on-ear sports headphones, apparently endorsed by Usain Bolt, the 100m world record holder. They are clearly designed for runners and gym lovers who love listening to music when they're working out.
Keeping headphones secure when training can be difficult, and the Trainer has a solution. Beneath the plastic frame is a rubbery headband, called the “Aeroflex” with a separate, reflective portion that can be moved back for additional stability. This is operated by a push button above the left pad, although it is possible to just pull it out. After use, the headphones can be stored in the supplied draw-string bag.
The headphones are powered by an in-built battery that can be recharged by the supplied USB cable; a full charge is said to be about 10 hours and that’s about right. The cable fits in a concealed micro-USB port at the bottom of the right pad. There’s no charger included, but any PC USB port or USB charger can be used.
Pairing to your smartphone is quick and easy, either manually or by NFC; once stored, subsequent connection is automatic.
The controls, including music controls, are built into the left pad, so you don’t have to muck about with your phone. I found them fiddly and difficult to use, especially on the move; the volume up and down button are very close together and it’s very easy to press the wrong one. With familiarity, I’m sure this will become easier. If a phone call interrupts your session, there's a built-in microphone situated near to the micro-USB port.
Press and hold the power button for four seconds to turn on, press and hold to turn off. However, the power button has another very useful function; pressing it twice when powered on operates the LED “Navlight” which is built into the back of the left pad. This bright light flashes constantly giving great visibility when out after dark.
The headphones are water and sweat-resistant, so no problem if you're caught out in the rain. The ear cushions are removable and can be left for 10 or fifteen minutes in soapy water if they need cleaning. I found them surprisingly comfortable to wear.
Audio quality is not first class, but more than adequate not to spoil your enjoyment of the music, or your training session.
If I have a criticism, the documentation, although adequate, is very difficult to read; the font is small, the background is dark grey and some of the text is blue.
All-in-all, runners will love the Gibson Trainer headphones. They’re comfortable, secure, weather resistant and good for listening to music. The Navlight is a bonus for those who run in the dark.

bPay Fob - Charcoal
bPay Fob - Charcoal
Offered by Westcoast Ltd
Price: £17.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Using the bPay Fob is simplicity itself, payment is quick, easy and secure., 11 Nov. 2015
This review is from: bPay Fob - Charcoal (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I’ve always been cautious about contactless payments but, being pre-paid, the bPay Fob seems to be very secure, so it seemed worth a try.
The bPay bob arrives in a cardboard pack with a clear plastic blister containing the fob. Also in the pack is a chip, which pushes out of a plastic card, similar to a mobile phone SIM card. The first problem is that the card is stuck to the package and when pulled off, it also pulls off the instructions which are printed beneath. However, there was sufficient left to show that the fob came apart and the chip was to be inserted. It seems the chip can be inserted in any orientation, but it would have been good for that to be included in the instructions
Whatever, having inserted the chip it needed to be activated; I used the bPay website from my PC. The site leads new users through the registration process, which includes the registration of a payment card and the initial top-up of the bPay Fob. To do this, you need the ID on the card which contained the chip, and a verification code which is sent to the registered e-mail address. Having completed the registration you have the option of setting an automatic top-up. This adds a set amount to the fob when a lower limit is reached, e.g., when the amount available drops to £5, add £30.
I then downloaded the bPay app to my smartphone. The registration process is even more secure than on the website, but it works very well, with two verification codes sent by text message.
Having activated my fob, I tried to find out which local retailers accepted contactless payments. The information on the bPay and Barclaycard websites is inadequate and the Google map locator tool didn’t work. Getting through to the call centre is a battle against a frustrating voice recognition software system that it seems hasn’t heard of bPay.
Support aside, using the bPay Fob is simplicity itself, payment is quick, easy and secure. Just hold it close to the terminal until it beeps; I’m impressed.
