5.0 out of 5 stars UK edition available - Run Like an Athlete, 13 Mar. 2014

This review is from: Anatomy for Runners (Paperback)
This is a great book - well written, well thought out, and different from most other running books that you will come across. Please note though that there is now a UK edition available, which has been re-edited (UK spellings, grammar, etc.), re-designed, but has been re-titled to 'Run Like an Athlete'. Same great information and illustrations though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quite small, so not very clear, 29 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The clarity in this chart is quite poor - the format being just too small to show the detail. Not sure who would find this useful. Too small to put on a clinic wall for example.

Run Like an Athlete: Unlocking Your Potential for Health, Speed and Injury Prevention
by Jay Dicharry
Edition: Paperback
Price: £13.48

5.0 out of 5 stars Top book for runners, 29 Jan. 2014
I bought this book as a present for a friend who was training for a marathon. She hadn't run one before, but this book really helped to explain how to run properly, more efficiently, and also how to avoid injury. So far, so good. Her times are improving massively and no injuries so far. Some fantastic information that you won't find anywhere else. Great stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure all the hype is justified, 28 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I appreciate that Kelly has a big on-line following, and this has presumably resulted in the great interest in his book, but i wasn't that impressed with the content. It doesn't include any theory behind the principles and exercises, and whilst the photos are very clear, it's not immediately obvious how the book progresses the reader in terms of fitness. Some of the claims the book makes are also open to debate, and might interest trade descriptions. No references either to support any material, plus no index doesn't make it that user-friendly. I'm sure there are better out there.

The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: Your Self -Treatment Guide for Pain Relief: Your Self-Treatment for Pain Relief
The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: Your Self -Treatment Guide for Pain Relief: Your Self-Treatment for Pain Relief
by Clair Davies
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars clear advice for the layperson, 11 Dec. 2011
I bought this book recently having been recommended it by a friend. The information is clearly presented, and like the rest of the reviewers, I found it a really useful reference tool. It covers all the main muscles where trigger points present, and covers symptoms, causes, and the treatment necessary. I bought another book at the same time, Pain Relief With Trigger Point Self-Help by Valerie DeLaune, which had also been recommended. Again, I found this book very clear with some lovely colour drawings and photographs of the pain patterns,Pain Relief With Trigger Point Self-Help and treatments for loads of conditions. I can thoroughly recommend both books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully packaged, and easy-to-understand, 14 July 2011
I bought this book recently after a medial ligament strain and was really impressed with the content. It is an easy-to-understand book which should be helpful to loads of people including athletes, sports enthusiasts, and personal trainers. Broken into three parts, part one covers the anatomical detail of the knee, clearly illustrated with some beautiful drawings, which is really helpful to understand the workings of the knee. Part two covers the proven rehabilitation program, with some well written text interlaced with some great anatomically detailed drawings of the exercises discussed. And the third part shows the 26 injuries with a two-page spread per injury; there is a drawing of the knee injury on the left hand page, and the full rehabilitation program on the right hand page, detailing a brief outline of the injury, the cause of the injury, signs and symptoms, complications if left unattended, immediate treatment, rehabilitation and prevention, long-term prognosis and surgery. A must for everyone who would like to know more about the workings of the knee and what can go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars a cracking read, 17 Oct. 2010
I had been slightly put off autobiographies after reading some fairly dire efforts, for example Freddie Flintoff's, but decided to buy this one as Vidal sounded like an interesting character; and I haven't been disappointed. He has had an amazing life, from a very humble upbringing to becoming a worldwide hairdressing success, rubbing shoulders with some amazing star names from the 60s and 70s along the way; some hilarious accounts of the 60s London scene are a particular highlight. So if you are looking for a well-written inspirational life journey, look no further than Vidal: he's done it all!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent update, 23 Nov. 2008
The Concise Book of Trigger Points has been superbly updated by the author. The first 3 chapters have been reworked to create a much more coherent introduction to trigger points, and there is a new chapter on research and theories. A great self-help section concludes the book - really pleased with this purchase, and I can fully recommend it as an excellent reference book on this fascinating subject.
