I don't like this because the DVD was faulty. The film got stuck several times, the quality was very poor and the editing was clumsy. Do not buy this under any circumstances. A complete waste of money.

As always, Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably have produced a feast for the eyes and needles. Lovely, practical projects to please everyone I think with their sublime colours whether you like vivid, pastel or earthy. Get it.

I haven't tried any of the quilts yet but as always they are a feast for the eyes and I keep returning to the book time and time again.

The Garden of Evening Mists
The Garden of Evening Mists

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book of great subtlety, 29 Jan 2013

I loved this book. Beautifully written, the layers of the protagonist's life are gradually peeled back to reveal the truth. Like a Japanese garden, the story is to be discovered and savoured. The author clearly has a deep understanding of Japanese, Malay, British and South African cultures and has skilfully interwoven them to produce a magical novel. This is a part of the world I know little about and I was entranced. It was very refreshing in today's society not to have people's appearance, for example, described in vivid detail but instead to understand the attraction through their behaviour. Throughout the book, everything is held back and that is compelling.

My only complaint is the poor production on the Kindle. I would have taken this back had it been a book. The breaks in sentences and punctuation came in the wrong places so that I had to reread many passages to make sense of it. Quite unacceptable, Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable romp through the 20th century, 29 Jan 2013

I found this book to be good fun and a quirky way of looking at 20th century history and some of its great figures. It offers a different viewpoint on how events could have taken place. Not really to be taken seriously but enjoyable nonetheless.

Thin on plot and with characters totally lacking in chemistry, this film is not worth renting. The very poor story line and lack of any kind of tension, let alone sexuaL, do not merit the time it takes to put the film in the DVD player. Don't bother.
