Appalling - this is NOT a complete collection of novels, just short summaries. No point at all

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Full of Wise and Practical Advice, 29 July 2013
In the crowded world of books on value investing comes this helpful compendium of wisdom compiled by editors John Heins and Whitney Tilson. The content derives from interviews conducted in recent years and published in the regular investment newsletter, Value Investor Insight, also edited by the Heins and Tilson.

At around 300 pages, this book comprises hundreds of interesting, thoughtful, and insightful comments from experienced fund managers and investment professionals. Some quotations are short and pithy, while others are several paragraphs long. They cover such diverse matters as researching individual companies, monitoring personal psychological biases, and guarding against risk. The editors have helpfully divided the quotations into four distinct sections, each further subdivided into chapters concentrating on a particular area. Highlights for me include Chapter 3 "Deficient Market Hypothesis"; Chapter 6 "Cutting Through the Noise"; Chapter 11 "Making the Sale", and chapter 12 "Of Sound Mind". Interspersed throughout are the editors' comments which in turn are helpful and educational. An author index at the back is helpful for picking out favourite investors: I was pleased to see Seth Klarman regularly quoted for instance.

This is an ideal book if you know your reading time is often too short for sustained regular reading. Sometimes time pressures make it hard to wade through long books with lenghty chapters. With this book, you can stop / start your reading frequently knowing that each nugget of investing wisdom stands by itself. I've enjoyed having it on my bookshelf for the last couple of months, taking it out regularly for a ten or fifteen minute read.

The Cambridge Biblical Hebrew Workbook: Introductory Level
The Cambridge Biblical Hebrew Workbook: Introductory Level
by Nava Bergman
Edition: Paperback
Price: 26.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Very clear and good, 23 May 2013
This is a really good textbook. It's very nicely presented and well thought out. The important thing is to understand that it's a WORKBOOK so it' supposed to accompany another textbook. It won't teach you Hebrew; it's designed to give you practice and experience in dealing with Biblical Hebrew. Think of it as intended to give you guided practice or questions to solidify your learning. I liked the choice of question - they seem to have put in quite a lot of thought because you do get a gradation in increasing difficulty. It's very well paced in giving you the right exercise at each stage. As such a word of warning: I tried to skip over pages and move onto to later exercises. This turned out to be a bad idea. I wasn't ready for later chapters. The right way is to make sure you first understand the grammar (through another book) and then practice it with this workbook. I've worked through the whole book and finished it now. very helpful exercises.

Very useful product. The wrist roller is for strengthening the wrists in a rolling-pulling motion. It consists of a bar with a cord attached, which you roll and unroll. you place a weight at the bottom of the cord (this one takes standard weights and should fit almost any size hole. Weights not included). The muscles of either side of the wrist can be targeted by varying the hand grip position.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 28 Jan 2012
I found this really helpful because Russell Fuller is a very good teacher. The best thing to do is to check out online sample videos. If you do a search, you can find one of the chapters available for free preview. That's when I did before ordering this six disc set, which I found very useful.

This is a DVD companion to Invitation to Biblical Hebrew which goes through each part of the textbook just like it was a classroom setting. There is a good concentration on morphology (forms) so that the student is able to learn the language by reason and rule rather than rote memorization. The six DVD set features thirty-eight lectures by Dr. Fuller, corresponding to each lesson of the textbook. It's ideal if you are teaching yourself like I did, or whether you want to supplement your classroom learning. It was a great 8 to the development of my Hebrew grammar

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 28 Jan 2012
This edition (with ISBN 1878442821) is the complete four volumes in one nice hardback. It's a massive 970 pages and is a very useful resource. It has strong numbers above every word along with a literal English translation next every Hebrew and Greek word. A great interlinear which deservedly has a wide following.

Greek Grammar of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature
Greek Grammar of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature
by Friedrich Blass
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 44.00

5.0 out of 5 stars The best advanced reference grammar, 10 Jan 2012
BDF (Blass Debrunner Funk) is still the best advanced reference grammar for koine Greek. Essential for indepth analysis on grammar and exegesis. Recommended for a specialist or someone with considerable familiarity with biblical Greek.

Noted New Testament Greek scholar Daniel B Wallace says:

BDF is still the standard Greek grammar of the New Testament even after four decades. It is in the process of being revised (by a revision committee of eight members), but the revision will take several more years to complete. We felt it needed revision because BDF presupposes that the average reader has had much exposure to classical Greek prior to working in the New Testament. This is part of the reason that BDF is so hard to use: most NT students have not had exposure to classical Greek nowadays. Another reason is its cryptic nature, Teutonic abbreviations, and omission of 'normal' grammar. Nevertheless, even with these shortcomings, every responsible exegete of the New Testament must own a copy of this goldmine of information.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding commentary by F.F. Bruce, 10 Jan 2012
This is a very scholarly work on the Greek text of the book of Acts. He should not be confused with another commentary on Acts by the same author (Frederick Fyvie Bruce) in the NICNT series (New International Commentary on the New Testament). This commentary, titled "The Acts of the Apostles: The Greek Text with Introduction and Commentary" is for a more scholarly audience and seems competence with koine Greek. This second edition is a useful update and well worthy of close study. As usual with FF Bruce, the handling of the text is exemplary and the writing is crystal clear.
