thought provoking, iconoclastic, 27 Mar 2012
For any students of economics, or people interested in exploring potential reasons behind why the the economy seems to be forever going up or down, this is an interesting and thought inducing read. though the authors advice is destined to be ignored, since too many people have too much riding on the value of their property rising at all costs, but still, a very interesting theory with various market examples provided convincingly.

My kids love this one, and the other colour library Wind in the Willows books we have. I am busy shopping for more now.

not a big movie, but a touching one, 18 May 2011
originally saw this film years ago in the US. took a while to track it down on DVD, but glad I did. Hanks is surprisingly good, as if Field. it's a touching and somewhat nuanced story of people pursuing their passion or "calling", often in spite of the personal cost.

just like the movie one, only smaller, 18 May 2011
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
to be clear, this toy won't actually guard your home or other valuables. however, it's fun for the family and the bright red colour is eye catching.

well worth a read - different world, same issues, 18 May 2011
thought provoking, imaginative and well told. the issues he touches on are more important than most people realize, and will only become more so over time. lots to reflect on here too about perennial issues such as love, money, community and the difficulties of living a rich, full and happy life.

farkin fantastic, 7 Jun 2009
some mixed reviews for this, but I thought it was thoroughly fun and wonderful. i lost patience with the alternating chapter format early on and switched to just reading the Ludmilla chapters (don't tell DBC!), but then... ok, no more commmentary, don't want to spoil the fun. take a ride on this one, its a nice new twist on storylining. finished it today and just banged in my order for Vernon..

lovely book for a 1-3 year old, 4 Mar 2009
bought this for our daughter, and she really enjoyed it. since the first copy we had got broken down due to little hands, I just ordered another one for our son. Amazon wasn't selling it, but luckily 3rd party retailers offered it. really fun to for small kids to explore, and read again (and again).

worth a read - good blend of story, adventure and reflection, 26 Oct 2008
enjoyed the journey. the author has found himself a nice corner of the world to reflect and weave some tales - good for him! old and new converge and contrast with some humour, insight and a liberal slice of the island's history. a nice reminder that there is a very different world outside our large cities. definitely adding Tazzie to the visit list after finishing this one.

Fantastic new QWERTY phone from Nokia, 22 Sep 2008
Having been a Blackberry user in the past, I'm impressed to see Nokia have definitely now 'caught up' in qwerty phones. I still use my Nokia N95 for weekends, but this is my weekday warrior now. Really fast for typing emails, web surfing etc. The camera phone is quick and good, and I usually end up emailing the images via gmail (which I set up on the phone in 30 secs!) Also web surfing is straightforward, with good screen size and res. I have my Ovi Share account, as well as Flickr and Facebook accounts, connected so I can send images, links etc. to my networks. Battery life is good too, which really makes a difference when you're on the move and little time to charge. A nifty feature I've started using is a program which wirelessly transmits the phone screen's image to my laptop for product demos etc. With a portable projector I can then project the phone's image to a big screen for presentation on large screens. Cool. I've got used to the compact keypad now, and its much more accurate and effective than it feels at first. I also like the alternate home screen (I have one set up for work, the other for play). I also use Nokia maps for driving and walking nav and its pretty handy. Good work Nokia.
