4.0 out of 5 stars 3 weeks in and I am loosing weight, 26 April 2012

I've been taking the Promax diet for Breakfast and lunch now for 3 weeks and I have to say something is definitely working in the old weightloss department. It could be down to just eating less, it could be down to doing more exercise more regularly but it may also be a good combination of both. I haven't been taking Thermobol as reccomended or the Maximuscle snack bars as quite frankly I can't afford them ontop of the shakes. The way I consider it though is by getting 2/3 tubs in a month and then not buying anything else for breakfast and lunch each day is cost diverting. I'm making up a mid afternoon snack of fruit (dried and fresh) along with a few nuts n seeds all chopped up with a low fat Yoghurt and then a fairly healthy dinner (most nights). I'm not a stickler for strict diets as I also like food far too much for that!!!
I've found (like others) that I'm generally ok and can survive through the day without being too hungry - took a few days for body to adjust but no surprises there.
So far I've tried the Chocolate, vanilla and Banana flavours. The chocolate is similar to taste as a not so expensive hot chocolate instant drink. Its never going to be a thick and creamy chocolatey flavour but I have found that 2 scoops on 350ml can taste a little diluted. The vanilla is pretty good, and the banana for me is probably the best - its very similar to any other banana milkshake, still an artificial taste but if you like foam banana sweets then you'll get on with this one!
My one piece of advice is make sure you use ice cold water - if its even slightly close to room temperature you will not enjoy it at all - sometimes I even drop a couple of ice cubes in there!
Also if you've never really tried these and changing your diet drastically like I did then there are a few side effects they don't advertise, all perfectly natural but its your body adjusting...mostly in your digestive system - you're about to stop eating so many solids and you may become a bit more flatulent at first. Similar things are going to happen any time you change diet in a big way so don't go rushing to the doctor straight away unless theses things don't subside after 7-10 days. Like other's have said drink plenty of water as well, when you change your diet massively to try and loose wieght the 1st 1/2 stone will drop quickly through water loss so you have to keep your fluids up!!! After this is when the real hard work kicks in so good luck with your weight loss and new diet!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bar lover's must!, 14 April 2012

This review is from: Imbibe! (Hardcover)
This book doesn't just cover the history of cocktails but introduces the passion of a great bar tender! Wondrich is an academic and writes like one, a few sentences get a little heavy at times...but nevertheless he obviously enjoys a good drink that is made well, and not just for the drink but for the atmosphere, the theatre and the ambience. Wondrich's passion and story telling is a must for anyone who has made the choice not to drink booze but considers a tipple every now and then, the magic of creating something special for the right occasion and enjoying the drink not for the sake of drinking.
His research into the Proffesor's life (you'll have to read the book) shows how the bar can be a rough place, a fun place, a naughty place, a complicated place and a simple place but get this book if you want to know how the cocktail bar all began and has influenced even the best pubs of the UK in the way a customer should be treated from the welcome to the making of the best drink in the house - whatever your choice is - do you love to tend the bar? then read Imbibe!

4.0 out of 5 stars A truelly inspiring collection, 9 Jun. 2002

This compilation is a wonderful incite into the music of Jane Austens Life and times. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the variation shown on this CD, usually something of this manner will hold such a standard style throughout that it is barely worth buying a whole compilation when one track reapeated will surfice. This collection displays a lovely transition from the late baroque to the early classical genres. From light dancy type numbers to awe inpiring emotional depths the CD has it all.
