3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not Hi Fi.!, 21 May 2016

Ideal for the job in hand and very good for their size but in no way can they be said to be Hi Fi. This should be removed in the marketing liturature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine for NTFS but not easy for Fat32, 12 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent drive if you want an NTFS drive but I was very dissappointed that WD did not support a reformatting regime for FAT32.
This second drive was not for an NTFS application but to work with a Humax Freesat reciever to increase the backup capacity which requires a a FAT32 format. I did reformat in exFAT but the Humax would not work with this.

1.0 out of 5 stars As my previous question implies the information provided for desktops ..., 7 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As my previous question implies the information provided for desktops is minimal and confusing. I have still not connected mine as I am not 100% clear as to what I must do! Backing up is not covered and the sequence for loading the software is unclear. Using a USB connecter is shown as required but in the online text there is a suggestion that a SATA connection (from the motherboard ?) can be used but how and when it is connected is not said. You should certainly not connect it to a live computer, if you do it might not live anymore!

Picture diagrams may be international and ok for simple tasks but the one supplied with this device is hopelessly inadequate.

2.0 out of 5 stars Polly, 19 Dec. 2012
Had one for three months with 2tb drive. First one replaced due to noisy drive. Managed to salvage data (about 800 CD's) into new unit. Now have over 2,000 CD's in WAV format on the much better piece of kit. Problems are legion! Especially with the absence of any really useful guidance on its operation and it's firmware. The hardware has the potential of being very good but is considerably let down by the operation of its data base. My previous data base of titles compiled over the years and in some semblance of organisation has been completely corrupted by this unit which dosen't organise the data or the numbering system that is used in any logical manner. Tracks are badly organised so that classical and opera(incl. musicals)tracks are not played in the correct order. The album "names" are a complete mistery based on uploaded data as are the "genre" which enable hunreds of options with stupid names and misspellings. You can rename the albums but the unit will then load the same disc again with the original name such that your data becomes totally corrupted and disorganised. Changing the genre is also easy but considerably time consuming even if you use the intranet connection which is good but highlights the "flackyness" of the firmware. Do expect the unit to lock up regularly which can only be solved by powering down and switching back on.
This unit gives a good insight into the organisation of your music and has many excellent features and plays music to a very acceptable standard using "wav" format but the software is beyond redemption and needs to be rewritten from the begining.
