5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent box set on the whole with remastered albums, 21 May 2015
Excellent box set on the whole with remastered albums, nice booklet and album artwork reproductions.
Nebraska always was, and always will be, as dreary as hell with the exceptions of Atlantic City, Open All Night and Johnny 99 but you can't have everything. Those Three tracks always did feel as though they should have been on The River anyway. The standard rises again with the final disc Born In The Usa. So for me 6 albums out of 7 are excellent.

Watched this on New Years Eve 1979 and nice to have it as an official release but the performance of Deb and the band is nowhere near as good as on the gig from Hammersmith Odeon on 12th Jan 1980. Check it out if you can.
Official release for that concert urgently needed!!

Nobody can deny that this gem of a find is an important historical document from a time when The Beatles were about to emerge. Nothing much exists from around this period, especially Live recordings, and this has Ringo Starr on drums!! But, Oh to have a Hamburg Beatles Live show from 1960 during the Stu Sutcliffe era!!! That would be a real gem!!!
The sound quality of this recording is excellent for its time and there is no doubting that Rory Storm was a great frontman and showman with his attempts at copying the rockers of the period, but here the positives end for me.
For the most part the band is out of time with the vocalist and each other. Each song seems laboured in the extreme and the audience reaction between songs sums it up for me. There is little or no enthusiasm from the crowd, if indeed it was a crowd. The backing vocalists are also out of time with each other. It's very easy to see why The Beatles emerged from the hundreds of Liverpool bands to become what they were.
The popular myth is that Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best in the Beatles in mid 1962 due to his superior drumming ability. Well on the evidence of this 1960 recording he had a long way to go!!! His drumming on this recording leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. Out of time and variations in the speed of his drumming are two of the problems. I suspect the real reason Best was ejected was his popularity with the girls and the fact he didn't "fit in" with the other 3. On most of the recordings i've heard featuring Pete Best his drumming was very good!!
Ending on a plus note, the bonus Demo recordings at the end of the disc are quite nice. The harmonies on these are much better and there is a nice version of Cathy's Clown included.

The positives are a great girl rock band belting out the songs as only they can. Been a fan since 1976 and most of us have had this on Bootleg, in one format or another, for years but it's nice to have it officially released i guess. There is also a Cleveland gig from 1977 recorded at the same venue (The Agora Ballroom) in great sound quality, presumably recorded by a radio station. Let's hope that also gets an official release soon.
The negatives are, as most reviewers have stated, that this concert is from 1976 NOT 1979. God, how could they get that wrong!!! As far as i'm aware The Runaways last tour was in 1978 anyway!! And the other grumble is of course the band line-up on the cover is totally the wrong one for this gig. This concert is the "classic" 5 girl Runaway line-up of Cherie, Lita, Joan, Sandy and Jackie. It just beggars belief how these people can get simple facts like these wrong when releasing discs!!!
Have to add though that "The Runaways Live In Japan" is a better option if you're only after one Runaways Live CD....Although even that could be released in an extended format surely. Other songs were recorded on that Tour but not included on the vinyl release, so let's have em put out on CD to make a more comprehensive Runaways gig!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREATEST GOALS??? NOT QUITE!!!!, 23 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good collection of England goals but how can John Barnes goal in the Maracana Stadium against Brazil in 1984 NOT be included on this DVD?? Watched the countdown and expected it to be in the top 10 at least, if not the number one goal itself!!
Most goals shown are from England home games with the exception of the 5-1 drubbing of Germany....WHY???
Another glaring omission is Michael Owen's stunner against Argentina at the World Cup, although this could appear in the extras section of top ten World Cup goals. Not watched the extras as yet, but surely it should have been in the top 100 countdown anyway.
To sum up...A good collection but some classic strikes missing!!

Essential additon to any Bowie fans collection. Although Station to Station isn't one of my own particular favourite Bowie albums, except for a couple of tracks, the inclusion here of the Nassau Coliseum show from March 1976 makes this a must buy.
This show has long been available in great sound quality to Bowie collectors on the Bootlegs "The Thin White Duke", "Suffragette City" and "Resurrection on 84th Street" but the bonus here is that the missing tracks, "Waiting For The Man", "Queen Bitch", "Five Years" and "Life On Mars", are included making this the complete concert unlike the Bootleg versions of the show.
The show has been remastered well. One of the problems on those Bootlegs was the crowd sometimes ran over the intro music for too long on some songs, which while giving the show a fantastic feel needed addressing. This seems to have been corrected and makes this a more pleasurable listen for me.
The packaging is first class, as was the case on the Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs deluxe editions, with good info and tour schedules listed for the Isolar tour.
This is one to definately add to your collection!!!
