LADY IN RED (THE SEAHILLS)
LADY IN RED (THE SEAHILLS)
Price: 3.57

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Sheila's best, 27 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lady in red is the latest offering from Shelia Quigley. This book takes us back to the Seahills where we meet up with characters from the previous Seahills books, including detective inspector Lorraine hunt and sidekick and live in lover Luke Daniels. We also get to meet other characters, whom readers will recognise from previous books. Lady in red has it all a serial killer who takes body parts from his victims to make his perfect woman, a hit and run that leaves a young girl dead, revenge, blackmail and a kidnapping. I have read all Sheila's books and have never been disappointed up until now. Although I enjoyed the book to some extent I was disappointed with the ending, it felt rushed and left some questions unanswered, although this maybe because Sheila will be writing a follow up. Also at times there appeared to be to much going on, and moved from one subject matter to the next and then back again. I thought it was an ok read, but not one of Sheila's best and the reason I dropped a star I felt the it was to rushed at the end, leaving more questions than answers. To the reviewer who gave this book a 1star review, if you had exactly read the book you would know it had 340 pages and not 200 this was written in error by amazon and has now been rectified

Bunny has many secrets that she has kept from Del and these secrets are about to tear their life's apart, whilst putting the whole family in danger. From the very first page of betrayed I was hooked, the story is fast paced with lots of twists along the way, it's gritty and the characters are plausible. Betrayed will keep you gripped to the very last page and if you are thinking of buying betrayed buy it now you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Lesley Pearce, 17 Feb 2014

This review is from: Survivor (Belle 3) (Hardcover)
Survivor is Lesley pearce's latest offering it is the 3rd book in the belle series, but could be read as a stand alone as it does give you some background from her 2 previous books. I have read all of Lesley pearce's book so was really looking forward to her latest release and I was not disappointed Survivor begins in New Zealand and the story carries through to war torn London and France. Survivor is centered around mariette who at the beginning of survivor is self centered, manipulative and not very likeable. As the story progresses and Mariette moves to London tragedy hits her personally, through heartache and bereavement a new mariette emerges, one who is willing to risk her life saving others in war torn France. Lesley Pearce has written another great saga one which will keep you turning the pages, her research is exceptional and you can imagine how harsh life was during the blitz. Survivor has it all love, passion, hardship and intrigue. Mariettes turn around in character is believable, as are the difficulties she has to overcome to become a better person. I would thoroughly recommend this book to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kimberley chambers does it again, 7 Feb 2014
This review is from: Payback (Hardcover)
I have been waiting a year to get my hands on Payback by Kimberley chambers and the first thing I have to say it was definitely worth the wait. I won't give a description of what payback is about as there are already numerous reviews on amazon that tell you this. Payback is the second in a trilogy of books about the butler family, I would recommend readers read the trap first. I have read all of Kimberley's books and I didn't think they could get any better, but I was wrong. Kimberley manages to bring all her characters to life, so real In fact you feel like you know them all personally, and there certainly are some character in payback! There are so many twist and turns along the way that Payback will keep you hooked from the first page, if I hadn't had to go to work I would have devoured this book in one sitting, it was that good. Kimberley's writing is so refreshing and no two books are the same. On the jacket of payback it states "easily as good as Martina cole" in my opinion kimberley chambers is far superior I can't wait for the third book in this trilogy

4.0 out of 5 stars Respect for Mandasue Heller, 3 Feb 2014
This review is from: Respect (Paperback)
Respect is the latest offering from popular author mandasue Heller. Chantelle is a young girl who is left to raise her tearaway brother Leon, when her useless mother goes off to Spain with her latest boyfriend, leaving Chantelle with no money and numerous debts. Chantelle finds a part time job, but rather than solving her problems, it's brings even more problems to Chantelle's doorstep. Vengeance, teenage gangs, drugs and violence are just a few of the problems Chantelle has to deal with along the way. I have read every book mandasue has ever written and I have to say although I really enjoyed Respect I don't feel this is her best one. The characters are well thought out and true to life, and I despised Chantelle's mother, selfish, and self centered she would certainly not win a mother of the year award! You can empathise with Chantelle and the difficult life she leads as she try's to keep her brother out of care and on the straight and narrow, the story is believable and at times gritty. Respect kept me captivated throughout and the tension begins to mount as the story enfolds. If you love a good crime thriller I would certainly recommend Respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW gripping psychological thriller, 28 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Watching Over You (Paperback)
I have just finished watching over you by Mel sherratt and have to say WOW. This is Mel's first published novel and I have to say I was very impressed with it. A great psychological thriller that will keep you gripped from the first page. Ella one of the main characters is someone you would not want to meet in your worse nightmare, she is seriously flawed and from early on in the books becomes obsessed with charley her new tenant. As her obsession grows her behaviour becomes more irrational setting in motion events that will change Ella's and Charlie's life's forever. I can't believe there are so many negative reviews regarding someone watching over you, the story moves quickly and the characters grow as the story enfolds. I have a good understanding of mental health and how abuse In The younger years can result in mental health problems in later life, so I do not feel Ella's problems are far fetched by any means. If you enjoy a psychological thriller I would recommend you read watching over you and I for one will certainly look forward to Mel's next offering

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read, 16 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Crying Game (Paperback)
The crying game by June Hampton begins its story in 1944 it tells the story of Trixie - a girl who has only ever known heartache. As a teenager, she covers up the terrible truth of her father's death and she and her pregnant mother and young brother Teddy go on the run.Determined to build a life for her herself against all odds, Trixie becomes a singer in the pubs and clubs of Gosport all the while looking for her brother Teddy who was taken from her as a young boy.
I have read all of June hampsons books and have to say this is one of her best yet. June has managed to create characters the reader really cares about. Trixie has her faults and is far from perfect making the story more believable. Trixies uncle Sid is a extremely nasty character who causes her numerous heartaches throughout the story and the reader can only hope he gets his comeuppance. The crying game has many elements to it including abuse, dark secrets that are best kept hidden and heartache. The crying game is well written with some surprises along the way, I would recommend this book if you have enjoyed June hampsons books, or if you are looking to try a new author the crying game would be a good start. I dropped a star as the ending felt rushed and I would have liked to know more about Teddy

Always Watching
Always Watching

5.0 out of 5 stars Psychological suspense at its best, 9 Dec 2013
This review is from: Always Watching (Paperback)
This is the latest book from Chevy Stevens always watching tells the story of Nadine a psychiatrist who has troubles of her own, she spent her childhood years growing up in a commune, but she only has vague memories of it. When Nadine begins to treat a patient bought into the hospital it triggers horrific memories for her and she forces herself to confront her past and the damage done to her and her brother whilst living in the commune. Nadine begins to ask questions about her past as repressed memories come back to her, little does she realise by asking questions about the commune she is putting herself in danger. This is Chevy Stevens 3rd book and as I have read them all I feel I can honestly say her books just get better. Always watching is full of psychological suspense, the characters well formed and each have their own flaws. The commune is one of manipulation, abuse and murder, which help to make this book a compelling read. Grabbed from the first page this book had me hooked sinister, powerful, harrowing are all words that describe this book. I read this book over a couple of days as it was difficult to put down, as the story progressed and became darker. I shall certainly look forward to Chevy Stevens next book with baited breath.

Wow what a great service slippers arrived really quickly and also kept informed of order status throughout. As for the slippers they are great well made with very thick soles which help to keep your feet lovely and warm. Well insulated with fake soft fleece. Love the colour of these slippers and button detail on the side. I suffer terribly with cold feet even in the summer! But since I have started wearing these slippers my feet have been lovely and warm and no need for socks. I would definitely recommend going up a size I am usually a UK size 6 but bought the 7 and they fit perfect.
