Tennis / Golfer's Elbow Support with Removable Pressure Pad by Neo Physio
Tennis / Golfer's Elbow Support with Removable Pressure Pad by Neo Physio
Offered by Supports Direct
Price: 7.24

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, instructions would be nice, 26 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Works well, does what it should, and I have seen a large reduction in weight-lifting induced tennis elbow.

However, instructions on how to first fit this support should be included. It is not difficult, and a quick youtube video can solve the issue, but this is technically a medical device, and selling it without any information about correct and incorrect application is wholly irresponsible, in my opinion, and could lead to someone applying the support incorrectly, only to further injure themselves.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hope it has been significantly re-written in this edition, 26 May 2014
I do a HR module at university and this textbook is praised by the lecturers, often cited in their lectures. I am using the 3rd edition book, and am sadly disappointed. The book is incredibly large, yet the majority of the text is irrelevant, with quotes including:

'the word 'strategy', deriving from the Greek noun strategus, meaning 'commander in chief', was first used in the English language in 1656. The development and usage of the word suggests that it is composed of statos (army) and agein (to lead).'

Information like this may be interesting if you're a casual reader, but this book is clearly aimed at students and academics, who in most cases are looking to find something quickly and with minimal "clutter", and who do not care about the history and derivation of the english language.

In addition to this, the book is missing vital sections including 'workplace discrimination', a hugely important topic in HRM. And those sections that are included, are often very one-sided, leaving out large areas such as 'criticisms of policies' and 'alternative methods'.

Overall, this book, despite its 540 pages, is somewhat useless, and I just hope the later edition(s) has been improved greatly.

Days of Wonder Small World Underground Game
Days of Wonder Small World Underground Game
Price: 33.39

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting game, but not one I love, 15 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have a good collection of games, including Puerto Rico, Tzolkin, Alien Frontiers, Munchkins, Zombies etc. This one just doesn't play as nicely as the others.

I feel the main problem is the large learning curve for new players - there are a lot of characters, special powers, etc - and yet very little reward for learning everything - the game doesn't leave you feeling satisfied. In contrast, a game like Puerto Rico is complex to learn, but amazingly rewarding to play (and win), or Munchkins, which is very easy to learn, and also (semi-satisfying) to play. But Small World takes more than a few minutes to explain, and yet once a game has finished I am never left feeling like I have played a good game. The mechanics are slow and I just feel like the game isn't one flowing system.

To credit the creator(s) - the game contains great, high quality components, the art work is good, and the rules are simple to follow. It's just not my style of game, I guess.

Cooler Master NotePal U2 Plus- (Cooler for Upto 17-inch Laptop) - Black
Cooler Master NotePal U2 Plus- (Cooler for Upto 17-inch Laptop) - Black
Price: 20.00

2.0 out of 5 stars Not well designed, and not for smaller laptops, 15 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The product description clearly states - 'This system allows every notebook, up to 17″' - however this is not the case. I use a 13" laptop which, sadly, does not fit this product at all.

Firstly the gripping material, which holds your laptop in position, is spaced at the back corners and the front - my laptop reaches neither of the back corners, so that grip is useless, and the front grip is so thin that my laptop simply slides over it. Therefore a small laptop simply slides off the front of this cooler.

Secondly, the feature - 'transforms Into a Laptop Carry Case' - which I
thought was a great idea, is also useless, as a small laptop cannot be held under the cooler, as it simply falls between the two U shaped feet which are spaced too far apart for a 13". Additionally, when you use this case as a 'Laptop Carry Case', as described, you must remove the fans, meaning you have two fans and cables either lose in your bag (they're thin plastic and so will probably get damaged very quickly) or you leave the fans at home. Not very well designed.

In addition, the USB adaptor, which allows you to plug in an additional USB, is a nice feature, but sadly, again, poorly executed. The adaptor is extremely long (twice as long as a standard USB plug), which means it is susceptible to being knocked - which, if not careful, means you could end up with a damaged USB port very easily.

Finally, the 'lightweight aluminum material', which I purchased in Black, is very easily scratched. Within a few seconds of my laptop being placed on the cooler (and sliding around, due to the reasons mentioned above), I removed my laptop only to see where my laptop's "feet" had been, the black colouring of the aluminium had scratched off.

However, on the positive side - when I can get my laptop to stay in place (which involves strapping it down), this cooler does help reduce heat. I use my laptop in bed every now and again, and this works great at keeping the laptop elevated, allowing air to flow.

In conclusion, this had the promise of being a great cooling pad, but sadly I am left disappointed by almost all of the features.

A Love Story

5.0 out of 5 stars Intricate, symbolic, serpentine story, 22 Dec 2013
This review is from: A Love Story (Audio CD)
Unlike anything I have heard before, Strange Billy the Saint and Bernadette Pike take the listener on a journey; their love story.

Each track requires multiple listens, to allow it to seep into your veins, but once there, it will remain under your skin. The more you listen, the more you become aware of the musical touches which layer up to create a full, often challenging, but equally rewarding, sound.

The songs are neither a duet, nor challenge between the artists, but instead act as two unique stories, with come together into a harmony of sound, unlike any other.

This album, a story of two people, and their battle for love, is only truly understood once heard. I cannot recommend enough, how desperately this album needs to be heard, for you to understand the extent to which music can be pushed and used, shaped and created, to form something magical.

Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head with Friction Control
Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head with Friction Control
Price: 58.49

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful addition to any photographers tripod, 30 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Great, strong tripod head. Holds my 7D with flash and extras, with no sag or movement.

Really flexible in terms of functional use - very well designed, being quick and easy to position, and very tough.

My one comment would be that if you do any video work, it would be worth upgrading to one of the manfrotto heads which have independent pan and tilt. I have needed to use this on a couple of occasions for video (not what it's designed for), and have found it virtually impossible to get a nice clean pan without some tilt (or visa-versa).

MIDWEST Official League Baseball Ball
MIDWEST Official League Baseball Ball
Offered by ACA Sports Limited
Price: 3.75

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poorly made, 7 May 2013
Bought 2 of these balls along with a Midwest bat from a high street store 3 days ago. Within 50 hits both balls had already split, one totally along the seams, the other just at one point. Terrible quality, not worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Overview, 11 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found this book really useful while travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia and Northern Thailand (Not tested in Laos). The structure of the book means finding a destination is simple, and all the key (thus touristy) locations are marked.

Being a multi-country guide, the detail level is limited in some places, but with internet cafes in almost all locations, I used the guide as a starting point and then built and itinerary based on what I could find online - plus online is always more up-to-date.

The book is quite small, in fact half the thickness of the China Guide, which shows how condensed this book is, but as a lightweight traveller I could not afford the extra weight of 3 country-specific guides.

I was in each country for 1 month and found that this book, in combination with online reading and other travellers recommendations, I always had enough information. In fact, in Asia you rarely need a guide book - there are so many people who can give you so much advice.

Gelert Travel Waist Pouch - Natural
Gelert Travel Waist Pouch - Natural

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item, 11 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased this for a trip around Asia. Wore it almost daily for 2 months, then used it as a wallet for another 2 months. During that time I had no issues, it's not bullet proof- but strong enough. It's slim enough so that it cannot be seen under clothes, yet large enough to hold 2 passports, 4 bank cards, cash and a mini-map.
Seen people mention it's sweaty against skin, but I didn't find this true, even in 40+ centigrade. highly recommended for anyone needing to be cautious.
