This book appears to be aimed at a relatively select group. Experienced and/or knowledgeable road riders will not learn anything and relatively inexperienced riders may not be that interested in the history and state-of-the-art of high-end components and frames. The book is really aimed at those in the middle with an emerging interest or desire to learn about what makes those expensive road bikes tick. My question: will this book really help those people build their dream road bike? To a certain extent. Although informative in many places, this book doesn't go into enough detail at times. For example, in the bike fit section, I was hoping for more detailed guidance on the saddle height but the book's advice: seek help from a professional fitter. So often this book's advice is to "choose components which are right for you".. which is good advice clearly, but perhaps I was looking for a bit more in places. If you are considering buying this book, bear this in mind.
