Carissima 9ct Yellow Gold Torque Bangle
Carissima 9ct Yellow Gold Torque Bangle
Price: 126.63

2.0 out of 5 stars More like a gold wire than a torque, 8 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This proved to be really disappointing. It came after an Amazon search for a MANS torque and, as it was on offer at a considerable saving on the original price, I decided to risk it. When it arrived it was in quite a big box but, when opened, the actual bangle was hooked on a 'spike' in one corner - obviously a use all box for Carissima as it had two other vacant 'spikes' inside also.

The bangle proved to be very thin, more gold wire than torque, and would not fit the wrist of any man I knows, maybe a young teenager at best.

Even at the reasonable price offered (hence two stars) this was not what I was expecting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very limited in what it does, 5 April 2014

This review is from: HD Video Player (App)
According to other reviews thought this would be the app I needed but it proved to have a very limited use and, unless you're making/uploading your own videos on Kindle Fire, just talks up space. Have deleted it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, it works!, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was sceptical about buying this product, it's expensive for a small pot, but I'm glad I did. I had a painful, inflamed, foot following a minor operation and was getting a bit desperate for some pain relief. Had been using Voltarol gel but didn't want to keep doing so for too long. A search on Amazon for anti-inflammatories included this and I decided to give it a try. May not work for everyone but after a week my foot felt so much better. Will definitely keep a pot in the medicine cabinet in future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame on the deniers at Disney!, 22 Jan 2014
This is one of the most heart warming of Disney's animations and for the company to even refuse to list it in their output is a matter that should shame them greatly. Such a pity a remastered DVD/Blu Ray has not been produced. Great songs, great cartoons/cartoon characters. It was made in 1946 for goodness sake, anyone claiming racism has lost their marbles IMHO.

4.0 out of 5 stars A vital historical document for Britten collectors, 19 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I originally downloaded this performance from iTunes a couple of months ago and the sound is, frankly, filthy; had I known a Testament re-mastering was on the way I would have held off but ... For that reason, I didn't just jump in and order this since the BBC broadcast is the only original available and the iTunes version more or less renders it unlistenable, however, I had the opportunity of hearing a friends copy last evening and the difference is remarkable..

Testament have done an amazing job, yes, it's very dry mono sound but the voices are faithfully captured and they have done a great job with the sound in general & particularly in the 'silences' where the iTunes download is a mass of loud hiss. The tubular bells at the very opening still sound as though they the are sited right beside the radio mike and are very loud. Pears & Dieskau will probably never be bettered and this recording is a real tribute to Heather Harper who really sounds 'inside' the soprano part; a real achievement considering the short time she had to prepare for the premiere.

This is, then, a basic but reasonable sound record of a remarkable and historic occasion and essential for all Britten collectors.

The Wolverine [Blu-ray]
The Wolverine [Blu-ray]
Dvd ~ Hugh Jackman
Price: 7.68

3.0 out of 5 stars Movie in two parts, don't give up!, 16 Dec 2013
This review is from: The Wolverine [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
After a pretty good opening, the first hour of 'The Wolverine' dragged for us despite the ususal good performance from Hugh Jackman. We stuck with it though and things got better - even if we had all guessed the 'shock, horror' surprise at the end. Viper was really thinly characterised by both script and actor, shame she could have been a great vilain.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but excellent external filter, 8 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this external filter as the internal Fluval filter supplied with my aquarium proved totally inadequate. This is quite a large unit, which has to be at least 20cms below the level of the water in the tank, so be sure you have the space to set it up.

I had been getting cloudy water on and off since installing the aquarium and, after following all of the recommendation in books etc., decided to try a new filter and chose the CristalProfil 900 after doing some research on line. After two weeks the water is, and has remained, crystal clear, fish almost look like they're floating in air rather than swimming around. My stress levels have reduced accordingly.

Recommended as long as the space required is available!

5.0 out of 5 stars The first cross-over Diva, 10 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: This Fling Called Love (Audio CD)
A wonderful disc - the first 12 tracks conducted by Percy Faith are amazing. Ms Farrell certainly knew how to interpret a lyric, not surprising considering her operatic credentials, and her vocal tone is sumptuous. The bonus tracks with Previn are slightly less spectacular but still enough to make the likes of .... (well you know who I mean, I'll only get abusive comments if I name names won't I) cry into their porridge.

If you love great singing of any sort don't hesitate.

3.0 out of 5 stars You need good suction abilities, 10 July 2013
Saw this in a half price sale at Robert Dyas. It's good for filling & keeping on your desk, water tastes much less of additives but, and it's a big but, you have to suck the liquid through a pretty solid carbon filter. If you're prepared to work hard for a drink of water fine but be warned. Also, it's a filter not a purifier, just mentioning the fact as a colleague who saw mine jumped to the wrong conclusion!

4.0 out of 5 stars Performance 5*/Recording 3* = Net 4*, 17 May 2013
I've asked Amazon many times to allow a dual rating on CD's/DVD's/Blu Ray's but they just ignore my e-mails so I'll just have to do it myself!

I originally purchased this performance from i-tunes and thought there must have been a glitch with the download but I have now borrowed a copy and, sadly, the fault is with Naxos's recording. The dynamic range is so extreem that, without repeatedly having to adjust amplifer output, it is difficult to listen to. The introduction and development of the so called 'Invasion theme' March in the first movement will amply demonstrate this to anyone who wants to check for themselves. It goes from 'silence' to deafening, which maybe what the engineers were aiming for but does not make for a pleasant listening experience.

This is very sad as the Petrenko's conducting and pacing of the symphony makes it one of the best and a worthy successor artistically to previous releases in his cycle.
