5.0 out of 5 stars A Truely Brilliant Game!!!!, 18 May 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
In my family theirs not really a game we can all sit round and play together, apart from the age old classics like monopoly. That was untill i bought this, after hearing a review on the d6 generation i decided to pay the £20 and see what it was like, and while at first it was a little difficult to comprehend what exactly we were supposed to be doing, once we started playing everything makes sense.

Unlike most RPG's Cutthroat caverns is a card based game, so all those who are familiar with the "draw map, break down door, kill creature, get treasure" kind of people may be in for a pleasent surprise. The progression of the game is set by 9 (or more) various encounters that the party has to fight to progress, and whilst the objective of the game is to survive, being nice won't make you win.

The object of the game is to either be the last one standing or the person with the most prestedge (gained by being the one who lands the killing blow on a monster, or by helping your fellow team mates with health potions) The real fun of the games is how the team interacts with each other and the various funny cards you can use. Cards which can either help your friends or hinder them, but are often funny to use.

It may sound confusing buts its easy to pick up and play, after the first session and a great game to play especially if you want to stab each other in the back. (my sister hates fantasy but plays this just to stab me in the back :D) This game is all about cooperation but at some point you want to betray your party, but the trick is everyone else is thinking the same thing, but the question is, when will everyone betray each other.

Like the blurb on the box says,

"Without teamwork, you'll never survive..."
"Without betrayel, you'll never win..."

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant model kit for 40k, 18 May 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
The valkyrie has been one of the most anticipated releases games workshop have had for years, and it's not hard to see why when you have the kit in your hands.

The box itself is a little bigger then a landraider box when you first get it, and it is chock full of bits to keep you happy, resulting in a model which is roughly the same as a baneblade (at its longest length and width it's actually bigger but the main hull is rather skinny in comparison)

The kit itself is relaityively simple to put together, with some helpful instructions to figure out everything. The main hull is the tricky part if you want door gunners and sliding hatches, but it's nothing to complex (though an extra pair of hands would be nice, as at one stage you have to fix the compartment together with four moveable parts held in by the smallest of guide holes.) But the finished product is well worth it.

a stunning kit that looks brilliant on the specially designed flying base and in my opinion a more worthwhile investment then a landraider or baneblade. My only serious gripe is that it doesnt come with the upgrades to make it the Vendetta gunhip variant.

4.0 out of 5 stars A clone of Most Wanted? and how exactly is that a bad thing!!!!, 29 Nov. 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not quite sure why everyone has given it such bad reviews, Yes the graphics are a little tired looking, the soundtrack is a bit rubbish and the campaign is relatively easy. But to complain about it being 'like' Most Wanted!!!! Thats just insane.

I agree they have taken alot from Most wanted, from the cinematic videos in between story links, using real people :O, even down to many of the game modes, and yes it feels and looks similar to MW so i can understand why people have said it, but Most Wanted was 'Fun' and thats what many people seem to forget.

Undercover follows the same principle, it is fun, granted in parts its boring and you sense the game really is trying to take itself seriously to try and suit the storyline, But hurtling through the streets at mach 10 dodging traffic and cops is fun, and the arcade type controls add to simplicity and the enjoyment of it, so you CAN just pick it up, thrash round the streets and put it down, unlike say Forza.

The Range of Cars is fantastic in my opinion although i do agree they tend to go for the fancy super cars rather then variety. Also one of the biggest cars in the past few years is present *cough cough Bugatti* and think of modding that car up? You can even use microsfot points to buy cars and upgrades that arent available to you from the start, and as stupid i think that idea is, im sure many others would like it. Saying all that though I did spend most of the game with 1 car which was tooled up with upgrades, and skill points as i prgressed, and once you have that car you like and use there is little reason to buy other cars, The campaign is a little too easy, and i found myself completing it far before i thought it should have ended. It all about betrayel and revenge.... you know the stuff, taken straight out of the 'we need a story to make it interesting' handbook the storyline is pretty much redundant and more of a link between the races, but the game lets it get away with it, cause as i've said time and time before... yup thats right, its fun!

Playing through the game, it has a heap load of free roaming space but if your not into driving from place to place you can jump to any race, shop or garage through the gps, and a feature i quite liked, it finds out which is the nearest event and allows you to jump to that event in the bat of an eyelid allowing you to zoom in more ways than one through the story. There arent many challenges to complete, only a few latter races took two tries, and most of the achievements were unlocked without breaking a sweat, so i doubt this game will have the shelf life of Most wanted, which had almost endless hours of replayability.

The multiplayer mode is a nice touch playing cops and robbers like in the old burnout series, and its warming to know that if EA can do one thing well, its take things from ealier games, and burnout and Most wanted are definate influences. Highway battles are a fun addition although really irritating near the end of the game.

So its not a perfect game, its not even close, but what it is, is its fun when you get into the game properly, oh and i guess i was lucky my game hasnt crashed, skipped or even missed a single beat since i opened the box. What it is though is a good street racer, it has plenty to keep you occupied, and plenty of things to try. I really do think NFS is back on form after Pro-street, and so what if its like Most wanted, thats like complaining because you look a little too much like brad pit.

3.0 out of 5 stars wasnt expecting much after apocalpyse......., 1 Jun. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
and i got what i expected, the story vaguely picks up onto the end of the apocalpse, and the opening of this film, uses scenes from the first film to very good effect, and i have to say was one of the best bits of the whole film. After that though, sadly it goes down hill, the story kinda bolted onto the end of the existing films, by a 2 mins cgi globe and alice talking about how the t-virus has wiped almost everyone out. It joins alice on the road going to help some survivors, and lets just say thier game backfires.

The film also focuses on some of the people you will know from the second film, (although not jill valentine surprisngly) who have to hit the road and are searching for survivors as well as a safe haven, this is led by claire redfield, (yet another resident evil character used completely out of context) and the film goes on, with the survivors getting attacked by all means beasties (and crows) but the film just kind of plods along in its hopelessly predictable and zombie killing ways.

things get all too wierd and a bit tooo matrix'y with alice. Most of the film progresses on like this and only seems to return when a) they get to las vegas, although even that bit is slightly ruined by the intervention of umbrella, but it still makes for fun action packed viewing, and the final series of events when alice goes on the hunt in an underground research lab. This scence is brilliant and is really what all the resident evil film series shouldve been like, and the evil beasty in this film is brilliant, and brings back the scary unbeatable monster type events from the games, unfortunately this AGAIN is ruined by more matrixyness, this is meant to be resident evil not a showcase of mind trickery, and the end well i personally didnt like it, but it does tie in several themes that have linked the films together.

Saying that it still has a bit of a cliff hanger ending with the survivors, and i dont know, but it does sound a bit similar to what happens in resident evil code veronica x, but i may be wrong!

The cgi is good, the ending is not my cup of tea, it has a couple of gems in it but sadly this has neither the storyline or the tense horror sequences to rise it up from being 'just another zombie flick'

5.0 out of 5 stars As good a racing game as it gets!!!! (if not better), 29 May 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
just like to point out, im playing the complete game atm and it is absolutely brilliant!!!! i did have my doubts about the handling of the cars and spinning off too easy, and yes this is a factor, but if anyone has played need for speed pro street, will kinda understand it. plus it changes the game from your normal arcade racer where you can crash into whoever and whatever you want, because damage actually affects your car, and its not just damage you know is there by a red light, the car physics and the battered bodywork, broken wheels, and your bumpers coming off is great!!!!! cause now you can see what smashing into a tyre wall at 157 mph looks like!!!

The racing is frantic and is fast to start with, which i think is a brilliant addition, it may be tricky at first, be for the first few races be a bit cautious, or knock it down a difficulty so you can learn the ropes, and contrary to peoples opinions the difficulty is well balanced, normal is just like another racing game.... on normal! plus the default arcade settings are perfect for 'pick up and play' gamers, where as you can change the settings and turn it into a great simulation game as well. Although arcade is insanely fun :P

Now we all know a game cannot be perfect so i'll give you a couple of things, the car if you go off, can be quite annoying when your trying to get it back on the track, but its not really the dreadfull horror stories in some other reviews but in my experience take it easy and ease back on the track. Drift races are a little tricky, but i still managed to win all the ones i've been in. The races have from what i can gather no music just the roar of the engines, but you can throw on music thats on your hard drive or streamed from a computer playing, so its easy to get around. oh and your only allowed one colour scheme in the campaign to signify your team. but come on, these arent really massive problems!!!!!!

The campaign well its just like a racing game with certain elements of pgr4, which by no means is a bad thing!!! and there are other kind of links to other games, but mainly pgr4 and nfs pro street, but im seriously nitpicking at what is a really great game! the different styles of cars are a good mix and are brilliant to drive, from muscle cars, that well perform like proper muscle cars, to japenese sports cars, which handle like proper japenese sports cars and to formula 3 cars which...... well you get the point.

Graphically stunning and the crowd animations are brilliant. There really is not much i can say about this game that annoys me, or is bad, which is quite a first!!! It does beat most other games hands down and in my personal opinion, and i have to take my hats off for codemasters and say this is a serious Must Buy!!!!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars deeply dissapointed :(, 21 May 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
i had really high hopes watching the relic forums and trying to guess what is in the game, and as a game its half decent, but it does seem far too rushed. some details and shading is off, some of the layers are out of sync, (the tau hq and sisters of battle immolator are two examples)

the flying units are a great addition though, but they tend to either be too weak or too strong, maeing you'll either play the game and forget they ever created flying units, or just spawn on mass millions of flyers, send them to the enemies base and destroy the vital buildings with no thought or skill required.

the animations have basically stayed the same as the original dawn of war, which were brilliant, but now seem a little exhausted. the mea campaign (one of the games major selling points) is good in the long run, having a different strategic element to it, like supply lines etc and the maps are great. But where did the banter between the generals go, they were one of the greatest touches on dark crusade, but now have dissapeared, leaving you feeling like your army has no personality which devoids gameplay, i have to add though, i think this is a huge step down from dark crusade, but hopefully an upcoming patch will sort some of these problems out.

however there is one problem that has put me off playing this game untill the patch comes out, i have a computer that can run dark crusade full specs without a hitch, and loads campaigns and skirmishes in a flash, but it took 7:34 seconds to load a single campaign map, (i got bored while waiting so had to keep myself occupied somehow), then i had to wait again (about a minute) for the mission result screen, (thats right 1 minute to load 1 screen) and then at least 2 minutes for the campaign menu to pop back up again so i can choose my next mission and wait for it to load once again.

its not balanced like the tabletop game but it never really has, but it has never detracted from gameplay so its not really worth noting about, overall then this game does have potential, but need some serious fixing work, and the patch to be a great game!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new guilty pleasure!!!!!, 17 May 2008
This review is from: Shoot 'em Up [DVD] (DVD)
firstly i'd like to say i can see why people wont like this film, but i never intended to watch this film seriously and took it as a bit of fun, and boy does it deliver!!!!!

it is like a rollercoaster at a themepark, its massively fun if you like that kinda thing, but for however long your on it, you dont think about how the designers made it or the physics that is acting on you throughout your ride, no for 5 minutes or so you do nothing intelligent just sit there while the world rushes past and you occasionally scream.

THIS IS WHAT SHOOT EM UP IS ABOUT!!!! there is absolutely no brain power required, just sit back and watch the mad stunts and the in your face action, and clive owen is great, admittedly not his most refined roles, but who cares. The action is swift and your never left wanting for more, cause if its one thing this film has is action, and plenty of it!!!!!

i was put off this film at first but i'd reccomend people to buy to see what they think, and i agree in the fact you will love it or hate it, but if you like rollercoasters its definitely worth a shot :D (no pun intended :P)

4.0 out of 5 stars its a bit like marmite with a sexy girl and guns, 17 May 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
i bought this game on a complete whim, and glad i did, sure its not as good as your normal 3rd person shooter, but it has a certain flare that is undeniable strong. the storyline is almost a side salad at burger king and does feel like its been pinned on just to fix the game together, and the enemies arent particulary hard, nor are the puzzles, so you may be seeing yourself cranking up the difficulty setting before too long.

it hasnt got the same professional finish to it that games like halo3 have and you do sense this game has almost been made on a budget, but it just proves that if you have a good concept good gameplay and good graphics then it'll probably work out ok in the end! but like i said, you may not like the appeal of switching between magic and guns, and the gameplay being as simple as breathing.... and the enemies tending to be a bit on the easy side, that said your health rengenerates making the game even easier. maybe a little too easy

so if your after a fun easy game to waste the odd hour here or there then consider this!

4.0 out of 5 stars completely surprised me, 16 May 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I'm normally quite good at spotting a good game, or at least one that i'd enjoy and at first completely wrote this off my list. im so glad i bought it now, the gameplay is amazingly fun and addictive, slowing down time and sprinting around everywhere causeing mayhem is exactly what it looks like on the trailer, but the clincher has to be pausing time and stealing an enemies gun, pure genius!!!!!

now to go into the game in more depth, the storyline is well....errrr its ok, but its nothing to write home about, graphically its great but isnt the best on this console, but saying that, it has some of the best destructability i've seen in a long time. It isnt too easy but not mind blowingly hard, there are some slightly repetitive bits where you have to use certain powers but the game helps you out, by saying you need more agility when facing a giant robot, oh sorry yeah i forgot to mention the giant robots.

on the whole this game is pure unadulterated fun, and quite hard to put down a complete change from the "prince of persia, with guns" game i thought it would be!!!

Medal of Honor: Airborne (Xbox 360)
Medal of Honor: Airborne (Xbox 360)

4.0 out of 5 stars its good but..., 14 May 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
i've became quite bored ith the whole MoH series ever since medal of honour frontline, it just seemed a bit samey, with only some recent versions, such as pacific assualt to save me from completely dissowning it.

now we have airbourne, and im really not sure, some of the music is a direct copy of pacific assualt, which is ok, but it does sound like ea are scraping the barrel a bit. The airbourne elements are good, and the openings to the level are by far the best bit of the game. but after the cutscene you jump (or get pushed) out of the plane and thats when it starts going downhill, you normally have a "safe" zone to aim for, miss that and you'll be in big trouble when 12 germans surround you and shoot nine thousand rounds into your body before you even land, which if you get it wrong, means you have to put up with another nine thousand before you can shoot back.

The weapons are wierd, if you have any sense you'd ditch the aliied weapons like the thompson which has about as accuracy as a donkey throwing apples, and go for the only decent all round gun in the game (which just happens to be german) it does get better when you get some upgrades, from shooting people, no special achievements like headshots, just kill enough people and you unlock all manner of goodies, which im not sure is a good or bad thing. its not really a challenge, is it?

now the REALLY bad part, allied AI is appaling, they will charge when they're heavily outnumbered, run infront of you when your onto a string of headshots, and just generally get in the way. Enemy AI is different, its good and challenging, in the fact that it doesnt matter where you are or who else is attacking, 9/10 times they'll shoot at you, leaving your dumb ai friends to charge unapposed and you stuck behind a sandbag waiting for them to run out of ammo, or you develope a teleportation device so you can actually move, because as soon as you peek your head out from cover they will make you into a human cheese grater. This said it does make it challenging, trying to find the 7 germans that can shoot you, through a building while standing a mile away with their teloscopic eyesite, but it isnt exactly fair is it.

gameplay is good, play length is very bad, i'd reccommend putting the difficulty one above what you normally play it at, so hard instead of normal, just so the length of the game is extended. it has some replayability trying to find all the special drop sites, and get all the achievements, which in turn are ridiculously easy to pick up (i got 11 in the first 3 levels [4 just on the training one])

its one of those games thats like hitting your head against the wall, although this way you can hit your head against the wall with a thompson :)

ps. i have to admit it but if you want a good fps, buy call of duty 4
