Doctor Who - Mara Tales (Kinda/Snakedance) [DVD]
Doctor Who - Mara Tales (Kinda/Snakedance) [DVD]
Dvd ~ Peter Davison
Price: £12.50

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, 25 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Kinda is one of the most 'adult' and 'interesting' Doctor Who stories of the 1980s. Snakedance, meanwhile, isn't as good -- even though it involves the same enemy. Still, both are well worth watching together like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thought I'd love this HEAPS more..., 25 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I thought I'd love this movie HEAPS more, but it's largely a talk fest, and not even a "clever" talk fest like some of Tarrantino's other films. So, sure, it's fun... it's watchable... but it's nowhere near as good as I expected.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as people say!, 25 April 2013

This review is from: Sucker Punch [DVD] [2011] (DVD)
This film got absolutely panned at the movies, but it's really not that bad. Take an open mind into watching it and you might be surprised.

Moonrise Kingdom [DVD] [2012]
Moonrise Kingdom [DVD] [2012]
Dvd ~ Bruce Willis
Price: £5.00

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad!, 25 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Quite a fun film, and in Wes Anderson's usual style... but just a shade below 'The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou' and 'The Darjeeling Express'. Partly because the scope of the film -- taking place on just one small island -- is nowhere near the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last, the truth about The Doors..., 30 Dec. 2010
Although I can see a few bitter and twisted reviews here -- including a one-star effort... huh?!? -- ignore them and, take it from me, this is the definitive Doors documentary. It's got a lot of footage that many people haven't seen before and even "true fans" (as they like to call themselves), have only ever experienced as blurry VHS footage, but here it's presented in beautiful film-like quality. This is, essentially, the kind of documentary that anyone who has seen Oliver Stones, "The Doors" and thinks it's reality, needs to watch. This is way closer to "the truth" about this great American band.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of Louis to enjoy..., 30 Dec. 2010
While is seems that Louis Theroux has repackaged a finite number of documentaries about a dozen different ways, this is probably one of the best compilations, for its price, currently on the market. There are some documentaries I feel it's lacking, and which I'd rather swap out for some of the material here, which isn't as good, but on the whole if you wanted a friend to experience Louis' work, you could do worse than sink some money into this collection.

At Last Smith And Jones Vol.1 [DVD]
At Last Smith And Jones Vol.1 [DVD]
Dvd ~ Mel Smith
Offered by Not2day Media
Price: £3.95

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant..., 30 Dec. 2010
One of the best, and sometimes most underrated, of the 1980s comedy duos... this DVD captures a lot of their best work with two "compilation episodes" culled from each season of the show. Although it means it's not everything they did, it means you can sit down and watch all their best work in one sitting, which is pretty much the best way to do it, anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good..., 30 Dec. 2010
A lot of these "unauthorised" DVDs about bands are real hack and slash affairs, but this one has had a fair bit of love put into it. Some great talking heads, some great Smiths footage (including stuff that I'd only had previously on a bootlegged VHS tape), and it's L-O-N-G. Certainly only a Smiths fan will like it, but if you ARE a Smiths fan, you're in for a total treat.

All the great Doors tunes, remastered and sounding wonderful, with loads of Jim Morrison's poetry -- read by Johnny Depp!!! -- in between. Bliss.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the previous one, but that's not saying much...!, 30 Dec. 2010
I like the BBC Audios based on Dr Who but the previous one -- The Ring of Steel -- was a stinker. This one's much better than The Ring of Steel, but that's not actually saying a whole lot, really. It's a fairly basic western storyline, with a long, long chase scene. Again, better than the previous tale but I'd still only recommend buying this if you're collecting the set. Otherwise you'll listen to it once, say, "Meh..." and never think about it again, probably.
