5.0 out of 5 stars An insight to 1800's London crime, 18 Mar. 2015

Not quiet what I was expecting from the tittle. It soon became clear once I started reading it. The ratcatcher is after the unlawful fraternity of London and not rats. The hero Hawkwood s a Bow Street Runner with a military background simular to that of Sharpe if you know the books and series. In this book he is involved in resolving how a naval ship suddenly blows up and sinks, which then leads him into a den of espionage and treason. This is all set during the Neoplonic war but entirlu in and around London. Dispite alot of Hawkwood background being so simular to that of Sharpe (a favourite of mine) I found the story grippng and did not want to put the book down, it was one nailbitter after another. Give it a try it will be worth it. I was loaned this copy and had ordered my own before half way through and also the next three books in the series. I am now on book 3 and still enjoying them very much.

A good selection, regreably some of the songs are covers and I did not like CD 4 as much as the rest. A friend when hearing CD 5 asked me to get a copy for themselves and also enjoyed them. Fully recomended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Twist, 14 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Its good to see a fairy tale extended so that the original children have grown up to become famouse witch hunters. Pity though the original house was changed from ginger bead to candy (Americanism for sweets I believe) that and the Americansisation of the plot lets the film down for me. The film has some good action and nice twist with some very well portrayed witches of the European type warts and all. The film definitly is not for children as some of the scenes will at least have them hiding behind the setee or give them knightmares.

This is a larg colour wheel with easy to read type and simple instructions making it easy to read. Unlike another reviewer whosaid that it arrived bent and at the time of thier review was unable to flatten it, mine arrived in sturdy packaging and totally flat. Th epackaging was so strong it would have been almost unable to bend it unless done deliberatly. So full marks to the company.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tale for fantasy enthusiasts., 21 Aug. 2013

Book one starts of with alot of action from the start and continues through out. Based around 6 main characters 5 of whom are shape shifters (between human and dragon) and a woman (Solina) who was captured as a child by the Vir Requis who is also the lover of Elethor a prince. The couple are found together and Solina gets burned by dragon fire and then banished. She makes her way back to here homeland and then sets about extracting revenge by leading a hoard of pheonix's against them. The tale tells how Elethor attempts to counter her attack and the result. In book two the story continues at a slower pace but still with a reasonable amount of action. Elethor (now King) has to defend against Solina (now Queen) who is now leading wyvern's drooling acid and with razor sharp claws and teeth. There is much toing and froing going on with some of the main characters being captured and subjected to being tortured by Queen Solina. In book three we continue still at first the slower pace of book two as Solina unleashes the nephelim (the spawn of deamons and human mothers) in an attempt to finish of the Vir Requis and take over the whole world. The action begins to speed up again now as what should be the final of this trilogy comes to an end. I have ot yet finished book three but am finding it hard to put down as with the previous two parts and looking forward to see if everything is resolved at last, or ends in such a way that it could continue with book four. The trilogy has been a very good read with sufficient description to feel that you are there without being over descriptive, and if there is a book four to come I will certainly welcome it. If not then this has been a good series and I will be looking for more from Daniel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Usual Susanna Gregory / Mathew Bartholmy tale, 21 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As usual the tale is a continious tale of inacurate and sometimes downright in-competant detective activities by Mathew and Brother Michale the Proctor (the most incompetant of all) intersperced with good luck they inevitably come to the correct conclusion. This tale is not set in Cambridge as usual but in a niebouring town where they are not made very welcome and set with the task of finding the Abbot who has gone missing believed dead. A good romp with her usually fine story telling make this yet another unmissable read.
