Absolutely superb stuff. This fine, four track EP perfectly showcases the talents of Taylor & Marie. Superb song writing, excellent guitar playing and tremendous, spine tingling vocals. You can't really go wrong here. It even includes a cover of the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic 'Bad Moon Rising'. I would advise anyone who likes this EP to see the duet live, where they sound even better. I look forward to a full studio album. But until that happens, why not download this little gem and just enjoy the sound of first class musicianship.

Another superb and perfectly crafted acoustic number from the talented Mrs Pallot. Mellow, melancholy and mellifluous, this has one of Nerina's strongest vocal performances. The song-writing is impeccable, the melody is haunting and instantly whistle-able, if you're talented enough to do that sort of thing. A definite must for music lovers.

2.0 out of 5 stars A tight squeeze for wide feet, 17 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased these knowing that Doc Martens are always reliable. I have had a number of pairs over the years and they have always been great boots. The last pair I purchased, from Amazon, was approximately four years ago. They did the job very nicely. However, this latest purchase has been less successful. I am not doubting the quality of the boot, or the service standards of the supplier; both of these are absolutely fine. But I ordered the same size that I had ordered four years ago, to find that the boots are not wide enough for my feet. The previous pair were a perfect fit. It's worth noting here that I am 37 and therefore my feet have not suddenly gone through a growth spurt. The options in the review star section above seem a little childish: 'I hate it', 'I don't like it', etc. That all sounds a little like a toddler throwing his toys of the pram. I don't hate the boots (it's very difficult to hate an inanimate object) and the suppliers have done their task admirably; however, the fact that I need to return them and replace them is frustrating. So I've opted for the rather childish 'I don't like it'; rather against my better judgement (I have to select one of them, after all). Furthermore, I am slightly baffled by the Amazon returns locker system, whereby you are given a secret code for a locker, in a mysterious building far far away (I was hoping for a cryptic phrase such as 'The weasel has flown south for the summer', which would then be answered by an equally ludicrously phrase such 'But the eagle has run off with a one-legged cattle-rustler from Hartlebury', uttered by a man in a suspiciously long coat, with a voice not dissimilar to Alec Guinness, who would then take the boots from me and dash off into the Bristol fog) and then told that the returns box should be no more than 30 cm by 30 cm by 30 cm. The dimensions of the DM box within the Amazon box (rather like a Russian doll) exceed this, and, in fact, even just taking the boots out and putting them in the locker sans box is likely to be tricky as well. Quite how I am going to resolve this, I don't know. Amazon may want to review this strategy - unless of course, the box is dimensionally transcendental (i.e. bigger on the inside). But, even if that is the case, it still begs the question, how do I get the darn things in through the door?

A superb, thought provoking, brilliantly written and philosophically intriguing volume from the multi-talented Mr Auster and, of course, Mr Coetzee. If you are a fan of either of these writers you will not feel let down. And, if you've never read either author before, I would still advise you to go ahead. I'm sure that you will be enthralled. An excellent purchase.

Cracking blues shuffle-chugging and beefy vocals. No pretensions here, just a classic blues formula combined with great songwriting. Fantastic stuff for any blues fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A riff that stands out a mile, 10 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Elbow are not a band I generally follow. That's not for any particular reason; after all, much of their material is very good. But it all comes together on this song. A bluesy opening riff, haunting vocals and fantastic harmonies ('oh oh oh') all bleed into a dramatic pause punctuated by an absolutely corking guitar riff, which makes you wish you still had long hair and could have a good head-bang. It's a simple riff - a riff that sounds like it belongs to a much heavier band. It lodges itself in your head without any intention of negotiating any formal agreement. That riff is the unlikely lodger in your mind; the friend that you thought was only visiting for a day, but stayed for a fortnight; and yet you still didn't mind. You'll be humming it whilst you're eating your Shreddies, waiting for the bus or when the tedium of work is driving you insane. Trust me.
