Nothing But Trouble
Matt Cain
Published as a paperback original by Pan on 16th July 2015
The music business is laid bare in Matt Cain’s stunning second novel. Glamour, intrigue and seething rivalry.
Some stars fall fast. Others fall hard . . . Lola Grant is the hottest pop star in Britain and she’s about to go global. But behind the music, her addiction to bad boys is taking her personal life in a dangerous direction. When it comes to men, Lola just can’t stay away from trouble – and her self-control is pushed to the limit when she meets her handsome new drummer Jake Hunter.
Looking out for Lola is her best friend and manager Harvey Sparks. But Harvey’s fighting his own demons and can only watch from the sidelines as the star he helped create begins to fall. When Lola seeks comfort in a life of wild partying, she meets good-hearted showbiz reporter Freddy Jones, a man who may just be able to offer her a way out.
But as she starts rehearsals for her Trouble tour, Lola finds herself faced with a new threat, one much bigger than anything she’s ever experienced. And unless someone can get through to her before opening night, she’s in danger of losing everything she fought so hard for – in full view of the whole world.
WHAT I SAY
This is the first book by Matt I have read and I did enjoy it another new author on my list to look out for .This is his second novel a great summer read to add to your list of book
It all about love ,lust , friendships and revenge all that making it a very fun sex read it does become a page turner it will grip you as soon as you start to read
I found it a great insight to behind the music business scene I love all the twist and turns lots of secret also come to light making it very interesting to read you will be so involved in the plot
All the characters were fabulous some very over the top but i love that side to them just what you think a pop star may be but they will become your friends they seem so real to me you can tell Matt enjoyed writing about them you can feel has passion for them all
It will make you see to that life as a pop star may not be as glamorous as you think it is
I enjoyed the way Matt weaves all the plot together so well making it a very fun sex interesting read I had got to see what was happening next .It will make you laugh smile and you make want to shout at them all at times I did I was caught up with all the life’s
I will say I did find the started a bit slow in places but helps with the story it help you to understand the fun characters
You will love this book it so good it brilliantly wrote very easy to read a good storyline

THE BROKEN BY TARMA COHEN
The blurb
'A work of near genius' Daily Mail - chiller for fans of GIRL ON THE TRAIN and THE HUSBAND'S SECRET

Best friends tell you everything; about their kitchen renovation; about their little girl’s schooling. How one of them is leaving the other for a younger model.

Best friends don’t tell lies. They don’t take up residence on your couch for weeks. They don’t call lawyers. They don’t make you choose sides.

Best friends don’t keep secrets about their past. They don't put you in danger.

Best friends don’t always stay best friends.

WHAT I SAY

What can i say about this book it so packed with tension it a roller coasters i was not sure if i liked any of the characters what did you think of them ? I found them a bit scary did you ?

I was not sure of this book at all did i like it ? I got to say i not sure

It about two couples and their young daughters and what happens when they split up this book show you just how easy it is to fall out with people

Tamar got a way of making you unlike her characters she got such a vivid imagination

I found some of the children so annoying it packed with lots of red herring some will surprise you it just shows you the impact a break up can have on people some parts i found very gripping to read i want to see what happened next

I did like the end i did find some parts very predictable but i got to say it did not put me off it it was packed with emotions it a very fast paced read i was not expecting the end very good

I liked the young girls memoir throughout the story it added to the mystery but i did find her a bit creepy did you ?

It very well written it was just not for me i got to say

THE BLURB

When one of the notorious Johnson brothers is murdered and a bag of money goes missing, a deadly game of cat and mouse is set in motion.

DS Allie Shenton and her team are called in to catch the killer, but the suspects are double-crossing each other and Allie has little time to untangle the web of lies.

As she delves deeper into the case, things take a personal turn when Allie realises she is being stalked by the very same person who attacked her sister seventeen years ago and left her for dead.

Set over forty-eight tension-filled hours, Only the Brave is the latest gut-churning book from acclaimed author Mel Sherratt.

WHAT   I SAY
You could read this as a standalone read this is Mel third book and this one just as gripping as the other two

It very well written packed with lots of action this story told over 48 hour it will keep you guessing it has lots of clues and a few red herrings
I found the story  very interesting to read .I like Mel writing style her characters are so believe able I liked most of them did you ?

Allie a fabulous character she was so likeable I did feel she was a bit vulnerable at times did you? She still being stalked by the man that attacked her sister  years ago
I did find the stalker point of view very eerily and creepy to read

The characters from the flats we're brilliant I loved them
The murder of Jordan Johnson was the next case and what a case it was he was the boyfriend of kirstie Ryde as you know from The taunting the dead Allie and the Ryde have history will Allie find the killer ?

I like that we get to hear about Allie personal life it makes her more real I found this book very powerful and the end was so good
Do you think Allie could  move on now this book so good you have to keep reading to see what going to happens next is so gripping you can not put it down
It so fast packed and so gritty It will pull you into the plot
Another brilliant  book by Mel she a very talented author  she get better and better
Please read for you self

Prodigal Son
Prodigal Son
by Danielle Steel
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars a great book, 12 July 2015
This review is from: Prodigal Son (Hardcover)
Prodigal Son by Danielle steel

In a matter of days, Peter McDowell loses everything he has worked so hard for - his wealth, his property, his livelihood as an investment banker. As the stress takes its toll, it causes a rift in his marriage that he cannot repair. Stripped of everything, he has only one place he can retreat: a lakeside cottage he inherited from his parents twenty years ago.

A beloved small-town doctor, a devoted family man and a pillar of his community, Michael McDowell serves others selflessly. Only Peter knows how he manipulated their parents when the boys were young, driving Peter away. At first, Peter dreads seeing Michael again. But to his surpise their reunion is tender and real. Only later, as Peter mulls over his late mother's journals, does he begin to question what lies beneath Michael's perfect surface.

In a race for time, Peter throws caution to the wind to find the truth. What he discovers will change their lives, the lives of their children and an entire town for ever.

WHAT I SAY

I got to say i only read about two of Danielle Steel book before and i not sure why this one was just like all her other books that I've read, great.

I really enjoy it so much i read in a night i could not put it down i want to see what was going to happen next it just totally captivated me

it is an unusual story about a family it hooked me from the first page to the last one it a great story with a few great twists it all about family, sadness, rejections, danger and love it so well written you just get pull into this wonderful storyline

I enjoyed getting to know the characters they all were very believable i felt for them and the story was so addictive i got to finish before i when to bed I didn't want it to end I realised who the "villain" was about half way did you guess?

But it did not put me of the story line was just so gripping to read

Peter and Michael were so dramatically different they become bitter enemies they were twins they should have loved and support each other but they did not it seem to as kids one was good and one was bad but which one ?

It a page turner so easy to read I like Danielle writing style it just flows and all the characters come to life as you read i want you all to read it just such a wonderful story of

'Twin brothers that grow up in the same family, same town that hated each other that are now are reunited after twenty years of silence and blame when the prodigal son returns home .what will happen?

The brothers are reunion but with such shocking revelations ' your be hooked just amazing read

A must read book i would recommend you all read
