4.0 out of 5 stars It not DTS as it says on the case, 1 April 2011
This review is from: Awesome As F**k (Audio CD)
Although I agree the song selection is not as good as Bullet, I think it makes sense not to just duplicate all those tracks. Green Day are still awesome live and this is still no exception so only a few from american Idiot album which makes sense. My only grip is it says DTS and it is not even though it says that on the case, I don't no why if this was a mistake but i have been unable to find the answer on the web or get a response from warners as to if this is an error, i was surprised no other reviewer has mentioned it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks there is God this sounds great, 10 Mar. 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Like nearly everyone I bought this as a replacement for my original EMI master, which I have now sold. First of all stop all this winging about volume this CD is quieter but not that quite and thats what your volume knob is for. As soon as Bohemian Rhapsody started I noticed the difference the warmth the quality of what I was listing to you can hear all the instruments, and you can hear the drums, piano guitar its great. Then came Another one bites the dust oh you can really feel the bass and the drums with that re-verb there.
All the songs sound clear and are a new joy to re discover, by the time I got to the final track we will rock you it was fantastic. I am so pleased finally a Group and record company making a remastered CD for the CD listening public and not the volume mad I pods, they can listen to the EMI version as they won't notice the difference. For all of you who love Queen and the quality of the recordings will just love this new re-master.

4.0 out of 5 stars Would be 5 star for kinda, 8 Mar. 2011
It been a long time since i watched Kinda, and the story still stands up today.Kinda now has new CGI effects for the snake at the end of part 4, and i have to say it has made this story excellent. If effects were around like that in 1982 I think i would have been terrified watching it, and it would have got Mary Whitehouse's back up as well two pluses. Tegan (Janet Fielding) gives a very strong performance and Fielding states this and Snakedance are her favorite stories. The dream sequences are very strong and still very spooky and dark. A lot of great ideas in this story with only the males being effected mental effects of the mind. This story was written before the writer knew there would be three companions so Nisya is tucked away in the Tardis for the story. The squeal snake dance (Mara returns)could never live up to Kinda, however it is still a very strong story and a good one at that. Martin Clunes gives a excellent performance in his first TV appearance(we forget how many young actors TV breaks on Who). This is still a Tegan story and Fielding's performance is still just as good as the first, with a very good supporting cast. The extras are good as well with both containing documentaries, making off and also a documentary Peter Grimwade the director, also the usual commentaries, Davidson commentaries are always enjoyable and this is no exception. This is a good value set with two good stories from Davidson era.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breaking the bank, 28 Feb. 2011
Firstly if you do not have these titles this is a must, however if like me you bought these first time round then its sort of a big price tag. I am not against the re issue of older stories, i just feel its something to be done once all stories have been released, all the stories in this set are excellent and this review is based on the value of this reissue. If you love extras then its for you. Like Revisitations One, the choice of stories is somewhat strange. (Vengeance on varos is now going to be re released as a two disc set in 2012).First of all have watched the original issue with the new there is little difference in picture quality. So if you are shelling out on this set it would be for the extras. Firstly Seeds of Death this was a double issue and for extras they are pretty good two strong documentaries the monsters that came back, and lords of the red planet are very good. However the original release was Vid fire so I am not sure why the need to re visit this story,as these extras could have been used on the ice warriors release when ever that happens. The commentary is the same as the original issue and sowing the seeds is also included as per the original. The next story is Carnival of Monsters, has the least extras and I found the least entertaining set. You do get all the extras from the first issue and then some be hind scene's work, which was included in more than 30 years in the tardis (now that would be a good extra!), you have two disc's and the original and edited endings,a longer episode 2 and the behind the scenes CSO with Barry Letts. Again same Commentary. Finally Resuscitation of the Daleks now this is a strange one, this was issued with 5.1 sounds and also with some good extras, ok you get a few more including breakfast time with Janet Fielding and John Nathon-Turner, and a very nice look back on the 5th Dr's tenure with David Tennet. Also its the only disc to have a knew commentary with Eric Saward. As for the other version you get the Broadcast version the two parter, which was just edited together originally by some BBC engineers,at least it has an option to have 5.1 sound as well. However this two parters nothing like say Curse of Fenwrick, or enlightenment, it is just the two episodes edited together. The picture quality has not improved by leaps and bounds and to answer another reviews question re 5.1 sounds, the technology is now available to create a 5.1 SOUNDTRACK even when the original elements are no longer available (see Colin bakers Revelation on how to expand mono to 5,1).So for the extras yes this is great well two of the sets are, all are double discs but this is a large price tag just for extras. Personally i think it would have been better to issue the stories as stand alone so you could select your favorite story. The next set is on its way in October and has Tomb, Robots and The Three Dr's, the debate continues at the strange selection of well the last title anyway. Please note again the tree stars is for the value of the set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can science fiction make you cry..yes, 16 Jan. 2011
I was very young when Tom baker stepped down as the Doctor and how upset i was. These three stories come from a period that was a high in the history of the show. The keeper of traken was a great return for the Master and for a studio bound story just great. Next logopolis which is dark in a good way with the viewer knowing that ToM baker would be leaving. This is the end of a great era, As Baker's Dr regenerates for me and i am sure many fans of the show it was one of the best send offs and John Nathon Turner was at this time doing some great things for the programme. Next came Castrovala Peter Davidson first outing, its a good story, with the idea of Peter Davidson Dr recovering from the regeneration and the assitants Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton carry the show for the first episode. Oh Adric(mathew Waterhouse) is not around to much through out all four episodes as well which is all good news for anyone who remembers the programme. At this price it is a must to any fan or person who likes the new series but not seen much of the old

4.0 out of 5 stars back on track, 16 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Tango In The Night (Audio CD)
It took two album between Rumours and this to Fleetwood Mac to return with an album where ever track is fantastic. This was the first Mac album I bought and after that I then discovered Rumours. However the great singles Big love, Little Lies and everywhere are here but there is so much more than these singles. There are a couple of weaker tracks, when I see you again shows the strain on Stevie Nicks voice, but the best tracks appear to be when Buckingham gets together with McVie, Mystified and You and I part 1 are great tracks that stand up as good as the singles lifted from the album. Finally there is a knew expanded re-masted edition on the way so you may want to wait and check that out as it may contain you and i part one which was a great B side to big love

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the best, 16 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Out Of The Blue (Audio CD)
Overblown fantastic joy, out of the blue is one of the few double albums that works all the way through. ELO took time to get started especially in the UK single hits but until a New world Record the albums did not sell well. If a New world record set the bench mark, out of the Blue took things to another level, and still is a fantastic musical experience. Side three which it was now (track 10-13) on cd is one of the best experiences in music you will ever hear, i know am i saying this about elo,but even "take that" now use mr blue sky as an introduction to shine when preformed live. Oh and dr who used loads of elo in the story love and monsters, and how the songs stir. Jeff Lynn said he wanted to make an album where every track could be a single, I think he almost did it, however only four singles were lifted from the album not bad for a double. This has been re-mastered like all the previous ELO albums, Personally listening on a good stereo this is a good re master, better than any MP3 download but not leaps and bounds from the original CD, considering Jeff Lynne was involved with the re mastering I was hoping for a slightly better sound, but hey have to wait till 40th anniversary now.Its a shame the charts are full of all that rap crap this is real music enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, 16 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Love Over Gold (Rmst) (Audio CD)
If I play a Dire Straits Album it is either Love over gold or on every street. This is the one just before Brother in arms. i bought it on CD the first time, but re bought it when remastered. Is Super-bit-mapping any good. Well in a word yes, the diference in quality is amazing. telegraph Road is a 14 min tour-de- force, a great story to a great gutiar, drumming piano playing tack. You will not be dissapointed this is where the masters make the other bow down. At this price it is a must. pefect materpiece

5.0 out of 5 stars A remaster to be proud of, 16 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Rumours (Audio CD)
This is the second time i bought Rumours on CD and it was worth it. The original CD was not remastered and compared to this sounds like a different record.
The care that has been taken to make this sound like it originally did in 1977. This is a must and all the track are fantastic, Second hand news kicks of the album and it stays at that level. If you ever taped your feet to Go your own way then you have to get this. By the time you get to Gold dust woman, you hear the background vocals of Buckingham, Nicks and McVie much clearer, well like you never heard them before. Silver Springs has now been added to the main album, it was originally intended for the album instead of i don't want to know, apparently due to the running time of LP records.
The second disc is full of demo's, and different mixes of the album and I have to say is nice to hear. If you have the original issue I would consider buying it again, simply for the excellent second disc. PS Warners can i have a refund on the original, as I have bought this now 3 times!

5.0 out of 5 stars what can be done, 16 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
As a fan I have to say it was great to hear this CD. I am sure there are many fans that will hate this the ones that like to hear the beatles in Mono only would probabley burn the producers at the stake. However listen to this as a different look at the song, Drive my car mixes in the vocal to the word and girl what your doing, it sounds like a new song. They use the demo version of while my guitar gently wheeps and its like a complete different version and it is beutiful. The strangest thing Octopus's garden is well with an Orcestra and wow great. if you are a fan do buy this, but I would say that if you have never been into the Beatles or have no albums buy No 1's instead, All i can say is I can't wait for EMI to realise the new remastered versions of the Beatles albums then they can all sound as clear as this great album
