5.0 out of 5 stars mmorpg Heaven!, 2 Jun 2005
World of warcraft is an online role-playing game, you make a character and enter an online world along with people all over the world. The world is based on the very popular warcraft series of games and pits the alliance races (Humans, Dwarfs,Gnomes and night elves) against the evil races (Undead, Orcs, Tauren and Troll).
You start by deciding the look of your charcter as well as race and skills (warlock, warrior, Hunter etc) and deciding on a name. Then you enter the game world! and what a world! the graphics are amazing as well as the sound effects and this helps to drag you into the game.
Starting off is nice and easy and there is lots of easy quests to help you gain those first few levels. The game is easy to pick up and play and really draws you in.
This game does have a monthly cost involved (about 8.00) and you will need a fast internet connection and a decent p.c to get the most out of it.
If you have tried other online role playing games give this one a try and if your new to the online game scene its easy to pick up and get into.
Just be careful it doesnt take over your life to much!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch, 26 May 2004
This review is from: Far Cry (PC) (Video Game)
This game has been hyped up a lot! does it live up to the hype?. Well as far as i'm concerned it does!. The graphics are amazing with some nice jungle textures and the sound effects are great. The enemy A.I is good as well with the bad guys working together as a team and even trying to outflank you. Some of the dialogue from them also makes you raise a smile with them shouting things like "I'm gonna shoot you in the face!" a bit naff but funny as hell!.
This game features some amazing physics and i spent the first half hour of the game just shooting things and pushing barrels around and watching the swing and react as they do in the real world.
The ragdoll physics are also great this means that enemys crumble to the ground and fly through the air with arms and legs flailing.
I have really enjoyed this game and it dragged me into it like no game has for a while. Its well worth a look and worth the money. Its just the thing to fill the void untill Half Life 2 arrives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Video Card, 26 May 2004
I bought this card from Amazon and have not been let down!, This is a real top of the range graphic card and the list of features is huge. The Card features full direct x 9 support so is ready for the next generation of games i.e Half Life 2, Doom 3 etc.
The card arrived in some nice snazzy packaging and also had a selection of games included. It was easy to install and came with clear instructions on how to install the card in your P.C.
Male sure you have enough space for it in the back of your P.C as it takes up two pci bays and also needs power for the fan.
In my very humble opinion this card was just what i wanted and more and really makes my games run how they should. I can now play the game Far Cry at a high resolution with top detail and not suffer any slowdown.
The price for the card is a bit high, but then you are paying for quality and it saves me having to spend a grand on a new P.C. and ensures i am ready for all the exciting titles coming out in the next year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but frantic, 25 Feb 2004
I played through the first Baldurs Gate game with a friend so we were both looking forward to getting our grubby mits on this one!.
The game was delivered so i called my mate up he came round with the beers and we loaded up the game, What can i say but GREAT.
They have taken the fantastic formula of the first game and have improved on it!. There is new characters better armour and equipment and even the chance to custom make your own!.
Dont get me wrong this game does not require a lot of brain cells to play, And you will get a sore thumb from button bashing plus its loads more fun to play it with a mate or mamber of your family.
This game might not be to everybodys taste so maybe pop down you local video store (you know the one!) and see if they do rentals of it first?.

4.0 out of 5 stars Football Fifa style, 25 Feb 2004
Well the start of another year and a new Fifa footbal game hits the shelfs!, Is it any good? read on and find out!.
I have always been a fan of the Fifa series of footbal games with the fully licensed kits and players really adding to the games overall quality feel.
The graphics are some of the best for a football game i have seen on any console!, The players really do look like they do in real life!,Check out Paul Scholes the similarity is amazing.
The ball physics are great and it really flies round the pitch like a real football would and you can even add spin to your shots from freekicks now.
There is also a Career mode now so you can take nearly any team from any division (foreign and domestic) and lead them to Cup glory. You have the chance to play the transfer market to help buld your ultimate dream team!.
The game really comes into its own when playing with or against freinds! so get your mates round grab some beer and nibbles and have a Fifa night in.

5.0 out of 5 stars kiss your life goodbye!, 19 Jan 2004
This is the ultimate roleplaying game for the Xbox and is a must buy now its on the classic budget range.
You have a huge game enviroment to play in and you can play anyway you like!, You can do the main story or just go it alone.
This game is huge and you may feel a bit lost at first but stick with it, You can do more or less what you like!,Become a Thief and steal for a living or become a Mage and make money by selling your potions created from plants and mushrooms collected on your travels.
There are hundreds of quests to do and loads of caves and dungeons to explore across the huge sprawling map, The graphics are nice with some great scenery that really makes you want to explore further.
If you enjoy your Role-playing on an epic scale give this one a go you dont have much to lose!.

4.0 out of 5 stars I am the law!, 19 Jan 2004
This is the first game by Oxford developers Rebellion after buying 2000AD and all the rights to it, Will it be the first in a long line of 2000AD influenced games? we will see!.
The game is based in Mega city 1 a huge sprawling city set in the future after a nuclear war, The city is policed by the Judges and they have the power of judge jury and executioner.
You play one such judge by the name of Dread as he attempts to stop the four dark judges on various levels set in Mega City 1.
There is a range of guns to use but the best is your standard issue "lawgiver" a gun with various fire modes including ricochet, high explosive and even ricochet! which can be used on the various bad guys in the game(try setting people on fire!).
The game features "rag doll physics" this means the bodys crumble and fall in a life like manner as you blast them all over the place.
The graphics are good but the city never really feels like a city as the streets are a bit deserted! but there are a lot of nice touches and jokes(keep an eye out for the Grot Pot advert! pot noodle anyone?!).
As you play the game you get points for arresting perps(bad guys) but you lose points for killing innocent people! so watch your aim!, As you play through the game you unlock characters and multiplayer game modes which are great fun!.
All in all a good game and lives up to the 2000AD name now i just have to wait for the Rogue Trooper game!.

4.0 out of 5 stars A grand scale!, 12 Jan 2004
This review is from: X2 - The Threat (PC) (Video Game)
This is one of those games you need to work at at first! and the more you put into it the more you will get out!.
It has a good freeform structure to the game allowing you to more or less roam where you want and be a trader or space pirate.
You can buy trading ships and factorys and even set up your own industry and fleets and you can continue your galactic conquest even after the story part of the game is finished.
Now for the negatives, This game can be slow at times and is hard work at first(but if you wanted easy you can play one of many shootem ups!)and you will need a good p.c to get the most out of with at least a pentium 2ghz with 256memory and a good video card 64mb or above!, the graphics are fantastic though and really add to the game.
So if you like in depth space sims and have got bored of all those shooters out there give this a go and it will keep you amused for a long time to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Max is back!, 8 Jan 2004
This game has a style all of its own! from the graphics(which are great!) to dark comic book style cut scenes. You play the part of Max Payne a tough new york cop on various story based levels.
The game has one great feature which is bullet time! this allows you to slow time down as you dive through doorways to take out bad guys, as well as rolling and spinning through the air.
All the items in the game work on a good physics model so chairs and boxs fly through the air during explosions and doors blow off hinges!, Also all the characters have rag doll physics which means when shot they fall in a life like manner with arms and legs flailing.
The graphics on this game are great and its as much fun to watch as to play so if you like shooters and enjoyed the first game give it a go!.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice space strategy sim, 8 Jan 2004
I really enjoyed this game,But to get lots out of it you need to work at it! its not a space shooter its a good solid strategy game.
You take control of one of three galactic powers each with there own strength and weaknesses, And try to take control of the galaxy.
The game has a full tutorial mode and also single missions as well as the campaign mode(if you download the patch you can also get a skirmish mode which is great fun!).
The space battles take place in full 3D and all your ships can be upgraded when new drives and guns are invented.
Battles also take place planets so good defensive structures have to be built along with tanks for invading your enemys planets.
This game has to much invloved to really do it justice here but its now available on budget so give it a go!.
