This review is from: The Dog (Kindle Edition)
An ironic view of the get-rich-quick jet set society in financial services in Dubai vs the servitude of those who built it and keep it running. Or are they all slaves? Very funny and perceptive once you get the hang of the convoluted phraseology. It is about brains, alienation and rootlessness. It is the 21st century.

5.0 out of 5 stars survival and love, beautifully written, 2 Nov. 2014

Moving, harrowing in places. Every character is alive and, on the Burma railway , or The Line , you are with them..feeling the hunger, the pain and the mechanisms that each is using to get through the day. Rough and tender, survival and love, beautifully written, difficult to put down.

I think everyone knows someone like Ove! It is hilarious (I laughed out loud), sad, wonderful observation of characters and twist of plot. It is full of optimism and shows how wrong we are to judge people by appearances. An easy read which lifts the spirits

Don't struggle with the sentence structure, just let the words sweep you along. The awful agonies and occasipnal lyrical wonders of youth are breathtaking and absorbin g. I couldn't go on but nor could I put it down. Wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique, moving and beautifully written, 17 May 2011
This review is from: Hansen's Children (Paperback)
From the first sentence I was totally engaged.

Hansen's Children introduces a subject which seems to be taboo even today. For that reason alone it is fascinating but it is also beautifully written and a deeply moving story.
I couldn't put it down so luckily it is a quick read.

Highly recommended and I hope that Istros Books will bring us more authors from the lesser known countries of Eastern Europe.
