4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Read, 16 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have not finished reading it yet but the first chapters give a very interesting insight into the history and reasons behind the low fat diet which the health services have been promoting for many years. It is interesting to read the stats and results from researchers who think this has been a serious error and who believe that high fat low carb is the way forward. Looking forward to completing the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clarinet Music, 10 Jan. 2014

The book was bought for my daughter and these are her comments: Good progression at steady pace . Fairly easy to understand. Worth noting that it uses American terminology such as half notes and quarter notes instead of quavers and semi quavers which may confuse beginners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good workout for intermediate level, 2 Dec. 2013

Due to a back injury a year or so ago, I have had to give up running and very high impact aerobics classes. I have been setting up a collection of DVDs to do at home instead and am always on the look out for DVDs which are challenging enough to give me a decent workout but not risky to my back. I like this DVD because the aerobics sections are are simple, straightforward and easy to follow. I like the mix and match feature which gives you a lot of flexibility. Some days I only want to do some low impact boxing with some toning thrown in so this fits the bill. The short one minute cardio sections get your heart rate up enough and you can "recover" during the boxing sessions which are low impact and work mainly arms and upper body. You can opt for a short 31 minute session or a longer 50 minutes or so session which incorporates boxing, cardio and body sculpting. My only complaint would be that at 49 years old with dodgy knees and back, I would prefer not to have to do any jogging or full jacks in the warm up. I think the warm up could be slightly longer and should gradually build up the exercise intensity. As with most of the DVDs on offer, the cool down and stretch is a little on the short side. However, those used to exercising can easily add in their own stretching session at the end. Some of the toning/sculpting moves with weights may be a little advanced for beginners. For example when lunging, you need to have good form before adding weights. Also there are some movements which involve bending and twisting the trunk using weights. Anyone with a history of back problems would need to be very careful with these exercises. I think this DVD is particularly suited to those with an intermediate level of fitness and previous experience of using hand weights. It is a good DVD for maintaining fitness levels or getting back into shape if you haven't exercised in a while.
