This book was made into an award winning film with Robin Williams, which in itself received as divisive feedback as any "film from book". As a romance, stunningly produced, I enjoyed the film very much; but the book is a more sombre affair, & arguably better for that.

It takes the form of a transcript presented to the surviving brother of one who died suddenly, & is telling his surviving brother of death, the afterlife, & his abiding love for his surviving wife & the torments she was to endure. Apart from being very moving & beautiful, and other times horrific & ugly, it unfolds in a very matter of fact tone of one individual relating to another.
The idea behind the book I believe, is to bring together all the considered opinion from all walks of life, research, be it social, religeous or philosophical, on death & what may then occur into one unified account. As such, as a book of considered possibilities, it is plausible, irrespective of ones beliefs, though it did have one or two unexplained or accounted for "doctrines", which I shall leave unspecified.
Many who have read this book have found it very comforting if recently bereaved, but it is a beautiful read on many different levels.

3.0 out of 5 stars 9053 Volitation, 20 May 2011

The "Alloy Shark" name belongs to another Syma helicopter model. This is correctly the Double Horse 9053 Volitation.
As with any 3 channel co axial helicopter, it is not suitable to fly in any breeze. In absolutely no wind, it will fly fine...with the provisos below:-
Specific to this model though, the 2 main rotors are set too close, & when manuoevering the blades will clash & the model crash probably damaging rotors & canopy. The balance bar is bendy wire. However, mods are very simple & easy to do, see you Tube...
1/Remove the lower rotor (inc rod) invert grips & invert blades so that they are now the right way up. That gives another 1cm separation between the rotors. (Yup, see You Tube, it's simple...)
2/ Replace the balance bar with that from the 9074
3/ Enlarge slightly the rear rotor (glue on some plastic extensions (see You Tube..) This gives it some much needed drive......

Spares are easily & cheaply available on various on line sites.....
The above mods will make a big difference.

A gentle quiet piece, & the opening track, sublime.

It's not a deep piece in any sense I can think of, just intimate.

The best TYA album, Goin' Home live at Kleeks goes right through you. Excellent sleeve notes compared to my vinyl copy!

Double Horse have brought out this model as a successor to the 9053 Volitation, with which it shares almost all parts, save a longer tail boom & bigger rear rotor, ostensibly to give the model more drive when flying outdoors. In this aspect, it fails totally, as the rotor has a reversed design with the trailing edge trying to act as a leading edge when flying forwards.
So, as standard, it will not fly in any breeze whatsoever, & I would suggest the simple modificationsas per the 9053 Volitation, on You Tube. I have done the tail rotor mod. to mine & it's fine, but no 3 channel co axial will fly well in any sort of breeze.
If this is your first foray into rc helicopters, it is a good choice & you'll find it very easy to fly (NO wind!) Its restrictions would apply to all 3 channel co axial helicopters. I feel it is slightly more robust than the 9053 and as such may be a better choice, but it is a bit more expensive.

David Arturovich's review is spot on, although "Goin' Home" as on the Undead album is a favourite!
This album shows the band members jazz origins...........& is all the better for it.

No self respecting boy from 8 to 800 should be without this. No one speaks to the child better.
Should be compulsory material for all professionals involved with children.

I was given an original copy as a child in the (very) early 60s, loved it then, & love it now.

Predominantly gentle & haunting presentation of both traditional & contemporary tunes with an Irish bias. Beautiful voice, & an excellent production with some depth, yet without too much background noise but still able to keep that "live" atmosphere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Volitation 9053, 19 Dec 2010

This helicopter as standard will not fly controllably in ANY breeze. The rotors (upper & lower) are set too close & can foul, crashing the helicopter, from which the rotors, balance bar, canopy are all subject to damage. The tail rotor is too small to supply drive in any breeze at all. This is not a unique fault with this model, but common to many so called "outdoor" 3 channel helicopters. Modifications are easy & are available on You Tube, but simply, enlarge the rear rotor blades by sticking on slightly larger blades cut from plastic or trimmed rotors from a micro helicopter..? Remove the lower rotor blades & grips (take out the shaft & dismantle; not so difficult....), invert the rotors in the now inverted grips (so the rotors are now the right way up), giving another cm clearance, & hey presto! The helicopter will now respond in light winds & the rotors won't clash. It is responsive & can be thrown around the sky a bit!! The rotor blades are not the most durable & won't take too much abuse, try replacing with those from the San Huan 8828? Spares are easily available on the net.
