Korg NanoKey Slim-Line USB Keyboard (Black)

5.0 out of 5 stars what's the problem?, 10 Sep 2011
i know all the reasons why people don't like these things but i think they're firkin nuts!

granted, its not a piano, so if you think you're going to practice Chopin's nocturnes on the thing, think again.

however, i've had one for over two years now and haven't lost any keys. it sits in a 13' laptop skin, it weighs nothing. its velocity sensitive. its cheap. i successfully compose music on it, as do friends of mine.

considering all DAWs need some kind of midi interface you can't go wrong for something to test samples, work out chords, simple arrangements, etc, etc.

i've tried the MPK25 and found it to bulky to carry around and frankly, the keys are just crap in a different way. the velocity sensitivity is actually worse as far as i can tell.

at the moment, this is still the best bet for an extremely portable midi keyboard but like everything, it all depends on what you want to do with it.

done

5.0 out of 5 stars best of a bad bunch, 17 Aug 2009
This review is from: Dracula [DVD] (DVD)
this is the only Dracula film, in my opinion, that actually captures the atmosphere of the book. filmed in England, the films texture is rich and absorbing. the acting excellent. the only complaint, it isn't faithful to the original plot. but then neither are any of the other ones. coppola's i guess, but that film's a farce in all other ways. one day...

never mind. its still my favorite D film of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars the only headphones you'll ever need, 7 April 2009
such is my love for these things that i am compelled to write something. i use them for music production and to plug into my ipod and they are perfect in every way. the sound quality is fantastic(sub bass vibrates your field of vision). the build quality is great. the whole thing comes apart so that if anything breaks, you can replace parts rather than the whole thing(even the cord unplugs from the phones!). the way its designed, there is no pull where the cord meets the phones so there's one less thing to wear out. the cord is only 1.5m so for an ipod you dont have to figure out what to do with half a mile of cord. right angle plug. i could go on and on. i dont know why there is anything eles on the market. the only problem is that you really cant hear a thing with them on so on the street you need to watch it.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice stuff, 30 April 2008
This review is from: Le Fumeur De Ciel (Audio CD)
nice cd. proccessed(spelling?) piano, strings etc with glitchy scrachy samples and minimal beats. dark moody ambient stuff. the piano playing/samples are quite haunting and melodic. a bit like murcof(also worth looking into if you like this). definatly worth a listen or two or three.

5.0 out of 5 stars with out warbling, 28 Nov 2006
hi all. well i guess the purists will poo poo this one right off the bat. fortunatly, i'm not a purist, because this cd is fantastic. its basically the orcestral highlights woven into a single song.so you dont get the bad timing of the usual versions of ring highlights.i dont go for opera really but wagner is something special. wish they'ld do other stuff like this.
