There is one big reason to purchase the *50 Tomtom range, over any other Tomtom or sat nav, and that's it's HD Traffic service.

HD traffic gives coverage of almost all roads, as opposed to just trunk roads and motorways supported by other traffic systems. Whilst not perfect I have found the more detailed traffic info useful, and it is the best traffic management on the market today without a doubt. However, if you are thinking of upgrading from your *40 Tomtom then, although the new version of software is better, it's not a huge leap and may not justify the expense.

HD traffic is a subscription service, and although press releases for this *50 range mentioned the option of free TMC traffic, mine certainly didn't have this facility. Annoyingly, my 550 also doesn't have an auto-dimming display, although it does have auto night mode. Maybe a software update will remedy.

In my experience Tomtom easily beats the competiton, and if you don't mind paying for HD traffic then it's a great product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Well, it's certainly different, 29 Sep 2009
This review is from: Yeah Ghost (Cd Album) (Audio CD)
As a Zero 7 fan I know their style has progressed, but previous albums have always had a strong element of quality and coherence, until now...

Why such a sudden change? Tracks lurch from poor electronica to the occasional soulful rendition, which is bizarre to say the least. Gone are the days of Sia's unique style and the superb vocals of Mozez. True, the new vocalists perform well, but only to a backdrop of mediocre.

Zero 7 has tried to evolve too fast and has discarded most of their strengths in favour of experimentation. This album should have been released under their Ingrid Eto project, and I fear they've done irreparable damage to their reputation and fan base.

End of an era I'm afraid....

3.0 out of 5 stars Split down the middle, 5 July 2006
This review is from: The Garden (Audio CD)
This new album has really split opinions, and I have to say that I'm not too sure either.

The Zero 7 boys have compiled The Garden on a Somerset farm and, on first listen, you'll think that the local scrumpy was rather stronger than they thought (being a Zummerzet man, I know the feeling).

The swirling strings and coherent melodies of the first two albums have been replaced by a heady, folk influenced mix of the good, the bad and the odd. An example of this is Futures, which starts as a gorgeous, mellow track, and then descends into a complex mess of knob twiddling on the mixing desk.

Having said all that, Sia's vocals are as superb as ever, and the album is still worth buying. If you loved the earlier albums, give it several listens because some of the tracks will eventually eat into your soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars This year's "must have" party game. Fantastic!, 18 Nov 2003
Now look, I'm a grown man in my late 30's and not prone to waving my arms around in front of the television like a deranged lunatic. Well I wasn't until I got the Eyetoy out of the box, with a friend, to check that my kids would enjoy it as a Christmas present. What then ensued was an evening of pure entertainment and hilarity as we worked our way through the games.
The Eyetoy is highly original, hugely imaginative and with a great, easy to use interface. What's a little spooky is the way you control the whole thing by passing your hands through the air. No keyboard, mouse, or joypad required. In fact no physical contact at all. This is the stuff of science fiction!
Other reviewers will detail the games but what many have missed is the range of interactive bits. For example you can have a virtual aquarium on your TV, nicely animated. Nothing new there until you approach your TV and notice your reflection. What you then realise is that you can "prod" the fish and they will dart out the way. This also applies to bursting bubbles, brushing spiders from a web that seems to cover your body (slightly disconcerting), and loads of other activities. Perfect to confuse your guests at a party!
So apologies to my children as their Christmas present is going to be rather “used” by December 25th!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank God DVD's won't wear out!, 30 Sep 2003
This is the most entertaining film in ages. The other reviewers will reveal its attributes but suffice to say that you'll be watching this every Christmas Day afternoon for years to come. Move over the Queen's Speech, Eastenders, James Bond, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, whatever. This film is no turkey, more like the star on top of the tree. (Apologies for getting festive - at time of writing it's still September!)
Buy a large flat screen telly, surround sound and enjoy!!
