I bought this particular collection because it contains a brilliant Smokie song I've been looking for for ages and which is almost impossible to find (San Francisco Bay). Only original recordings here folks, which makes this collection a must-have for true Smokie fans. Almost all the big hits from their heyday are featured on this 3 CD compilation, except for the duet they recorded with Suzy Quatro (Stumblin' in), which is on almost every other greatest hits album of theirs. There are so many songs on the 3 CD's that obviously not every song was a hit, however, they are all interesting to listen to. Rediscovering this great act all these years later, I am amazed at how well they mastered the very difficult vocal technique of the falsetto, which they used mainly on the choruses. These boys played their own instruments and sang superbly, wow, hats off to them !

What can I say ? Simply a gem of a collection, all original (studio) recordings of Neil's early albums which contain of course an amazing number of hits. They also threw in several good live recordings (at the end of CD 3) that were taken from concerts given in the early 70's. Talk about value for money ! This collection is a must-have for any serious Neil Diamond fan out there.

I absolutely love this film ! The scene where the Lone Ranger is on his horse inside a moving train carriage, shooting at the enemy on another train, and all this to a famous piece of classical music, alone deserves cult status !

I love this book, and have a shipload of respect for the man who wrote it. This amazing doctor not only heals the living, but gives people all over the world hope for an afterlife. I admire his courage for sharing an experience that might not have gone down so well with his peers. All I can say is, thank you for your generosity Doctor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gift to us all, 29 May 2014
Watch this film if you want to know what really good cinema is all about. It starts off slowly, building up gradually, until it becomes so gripping and profound that it will leave you with a very precious gift : Thanking God for the life you have, even if you imagine it to be mundane, boring and often monotonous. The luxury of being able to live an ordinary existence suddenly appears to be a blessing compared to what some people have to endure.

1.0 out of 5 stars Psycho Alert !, 28 May 2014
Boy am I glad I bought this... I hadn't seen a bona fide psychopath in a TV film for years, and suddenly there she was...Satan's sister in charge of a spaceship ! Don't ask me for names, I was too busy analysing her behavioural pattern. One minute she's smiling and sharing a healthy complicity with her 2nd in command, a charming young man who goes to the trouble of inviting her for an evening meal to take her mind off work, the next minute she's blowing his brains all over the wall with his own gun just because he refuses to carry out one of her insane orders ! There's more... Once she's been notified that her girlfriend is in fact an enemy spy, she tells her henchman to torture her mercilessly, using any means necessary ! Well folks, all I can say is that now I know who I'm not inviting to my Christmas dinner party.

A big thank you to the other reviewers for guiding me towards this CD. I'd been looking for the original recordings of this brilliant tropical trio for years, but without success. There are so many second rate re-recordings of their music out there. Great tracks, great extended versions of almost every song on this CD. A must have for anyone who really wants to know what "feel good music" is all about. This compilation will chase the blues away in a jiffy.

The Fall of Ozog
The Fall of Ozog
by Lindsay Greatwood
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.50

5.0 out of 5 stars A web of suspense, 7 Sept. 2013
This review is from: The Fall of Ozog (Paperback)
Whether you are familiar with a part of the world known as "The Swiss Riviera", or not, Lindsay Greatwood's latest literary proffering is one hell of a good read. The author not only manages a shift from her usual field of biographies to that of the crime novel with an uncanny brio, she ventures so far as to write this gripping whodunnit crime thriller in the first person, as a man ! She becomes Jim Brennan, art dealer/undercover agent/private detective, and leads the reader through a world of wealth, intrigue, corruption, and immorality with the ease and know-how only a truly talented wordsmith could. Mastering every aspect of a society that is seemingly picture-perfect on the surface, she cuts through the glittering icing with relish and shows us that evil can lurk in the prettiest of places. Without giving the thread away, I'll just mention that the story begins with the mysterious death of a beautiful young woman on Lake Geneva, and yes, the plot does thicken from then on, and no, once you've started reading this book, you won't be able to put it down.
