5.0 out of 5 stars GRIPPING AND VERY REAL, 12 May 2008
This review is from: Shooters [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been after this film for ages and managed to get a copy of it in the end. Man what a film! this makes any brit gangster flick thats come out to date look like childs play, not because its very violent but because of the use of non actors ( i have heard they are real gangsters but dont quote me on that) this gives the film a very raw edge that is impossibble to get in actors unless youre Keitel, De niro, etc.
There is also some sentiment in the film showing the director does care for these dodgy blokes and there plight but if you blink you might miss it and also it highlights the two schools of thought when it comes to crime and gangsters. Being quiet and making money or running around like a nutter not making a penny. Violents is bad for business ask any professoinal criminal.

3.0 out of 5 stars SELF INDULGENT AND BORING....SORRY LADS, 6 May 2008
This review is from: Don't Believe the Truth (Audio CD)
For me Oasis ended when Tony Mcarrol got the boot.
i can see why they gave him the boot but they lost that raw sound.
dont believe the truth is really self indulgent and very me me me.
the only decent song is Keep The Dream Alive. but Andy bell wrote that so is it Really Oasis as we know it. I dont think so some how.
the 3 stars are for Andy Bell

4.0 out of 5 stars IT MAY BE JUST A TAD TOO REAL, 1 May 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
i have played the gta series from day one.
I can still remmber playing the first GTA and thinking wow this is different. My best title out of the series is San Andreas just for the shear size and amount of things to do.
So now i have GTA IV what do i think?
Well i am not going to comment on the graphics because for me its not important, Gameplay is the most important thing (see tetris)
bad points first. The cars, it really is like driving on ice at times.
next thing is the controls. I feel they could of been a lot better.
last thing is the dark parts of the city ie under a fly over bridge you really cant see much.
ok good points are. The music (radio stations). Realism ( i stabbed a taxi driver and felt bad, thats never happened to me in the gta series)
and the next is the way the game opens up and gradually unlocks things it really does get you hooked i mean taxi rides are just brilliant.
overall it is not what i was expecting. i think rockstar have taken gta to the limit with this i doubt if there will be a GTA 5 just downlodable content. its not original anymore. i would of given 5 stars if the driving was better.

4.0 out of 5 stars not bad for 40k, 6 Mar 2008
This review is from: Lunatic [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
I READ ABOUT THIS MOVIE IN THE PAPER AND THAT IT ONLY COST 40K
I AM REALLY INTO GRITTY FILMS MADE ON SHOESTRING BUDGETS SO I THOUGHT I WILL GIVE IT A GO. IT IS VERY FREE FLOWING WHICH GIVES YOU THE IMPRESSION YOU ARE IN THE FILM THERESSOME WIERD BITS IN IT TOO BUT TO ME THATS PART OF LONDON LIFE AND I DONT THINK ITS FAR FETCHED AT ALL. (I GREW UP IN LONDON)THE SCRIPT I THINK IS GREAT AND NOT OVER DONE AND THERE IS A LOT OF IMPROVISATION. IF YOURE A WOULD BE FILM MAKER OR JUST A MOVIE BUFF NERD LIKE ME YOU SHOULD BUY IF NOT YOU MAY BE DISAPOINTED.
LOOK FORWARD TO HIS NEXT PROJECT WHEN HE HAS GOT MORE MONEY TO SPEND.

4.0 out of 5 stars ELLO BOY'S, 25 Jan 2006
I was in a shop and spotted an old friend
of mine on the front cover of Green Street so i decided to buy it
without reading reviews or anything so i took a chance. I do have a collection of all the soccer films ever made apart from "Aviradachi Millwall". There was a double take when i noticed that the guy from Lord of The Rings was in it and i thought "Oh Dear" Anyway the film gets off to a flying start
no real let up in the action stakes the leader of the GSE has a strange accent which is a cross between Irish/Australian/Cockney
but just about pulls it off some how. The clothes seem to be spot on for early nineties clobber and the fight scenes are good.
as far as the acting goes there is talent lurking about somewhere. For a soccer hooligan film its not that great but what you got to remember is this subculture is forever evolving and very hard to pin down. At the end of the day no one really knows what its all about even the people involved in it it is a very complex subject and has lots of schools of thought.
I admire the Directors bravery for taking on such a difficult subject, that alone deserves 4 stars.
A reviewer mentioned when will they bring out a proper hoolie film (good point) I hear they are thinking about turning Awadays into a film which is a great book, just a rumour though.
On the whole it was a good effort by everyone who made the film.

5.0 out of 5 stars THEY NEED TO MAKE A FILM OUT OF THIS!!!!!!!, 10 Feb 2005
Its a dark rollercoaster ride seen through the eyes of our
anti-hero Mr Exton. The charatcers have depth the script is
nice and tight and artwork is cool. It has to be read in one hit though and does seem short.......but its a short sharp shock.

5.0 out of 5 stars COOL WORK OF GENIUS, 1 Dec 2004
This review is from: Johnny Suede [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This film was recommended to me in a back street video shop
by a student who worked there, at that time i heard about the film but had no desire to watch it at that time so anyway decided to take the guys advice and watch it, and i must say i was blown away.
The film concentrates on Johnny who is basically a troubled musician trying to get a record deal
who seems to be in love with his shoes which he found (mmm bit weird)
there is no real plot but the film seems to be made up of great
scenes about day to day life and love. When watching it YOU think the Johnny character is a cool, sophisticated talented kind of guy (which he is) but in the actual film the characters view him as a bit of an untalented lost cause which i think is sheer genius. Brad pit is excellelent and it was funny seeing Samuel Jackson playing one of his band mates.
Great film. I am now in the process of hunting for a DVD version.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCITING, SHOCKING AND DISTURBING, 29 Sep 2004
when i watched the football factory the first thing i realised
was it is actually nothing like the book more of a different view
and approach to the subject matter for possibly a mainstream audience the acting is brilliant the fight scenes are pretty realistic and the script is very funny and authentic
football hooliganism is a very tricky subject to tackle and produce in movie ie The Firm and ID but i think love pulls it off
purely because of the cast and support from the book
well done gezzer
