4.0 out of 5 stars Good but have their flaws, 22 Nov. 2008
Got a set of these and they are working well as light switches, I can see into the rooms they cover so I know if they are on or off.

There is one button for each light, press on, press off but if you cant see the light then you will not know for sure if it is off or on as sometimes as with all remotes it doesnt register.

I do find them useful and so far they have worked flawlessly, the fact that there is an on/off switch on the plug itself is useful too, especially if there wasnt one before, i.e. plugged into an extension cord.

These use a radio remote, not infrared so work through average walls, maybe not so well in the castle though :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, robust, decent quality cctv DVR for a low price, recommended., 14 Nov. 2008
Some pictures do not show this but the connections are via phono leads just like the ones on your tv or hifi. There are extra leads that allow connection to a switch or alarm system so it can be triggered manually or by your alarm. In normal use however the unit will detect movement and the sensitivity and area can be adjusted as can the amount of photos taken if in photo mode rather than video mode. A bypass switch is present to keep the logos off your tv screen if needed, it still records in bypass mode. It also date and time stamps the files. There is no battery and it doesnt seem to loose time when turned off so must have a capacitor inside that charges when its turned on. You can select two inputs but cannot record from both at the same time. There is a video output also. This does not record audio. Image quality on high quality setting is fair but not like video but better than a mobile phone type video. The SD card pops out and you can download the videos into your PC with an SD card reader (not supplied). Two LEDs one for power the other for detect. Playback can be done without a PC but recording stops while playback is in use. It can record without a card but not for long and it looses it when the power goes off so you really need the SD card, one is supplied (2Gb) and that is the maximum size, though you can swap them and have one for each day, etc. Not bad, in fact excellent for the price. It is also very compact and the case is aluminium which makes it quite robust. Powered from a mains adaptor, supplied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, good looking, easy to clean machine, makes smooth ice cream or frozen yoghurt, 14 Nov. 2008
Out of the box this is a very elegant looking machine compared to most ice cream makers. I had a Philips one some years ago and this unit is no noiser than that, they all seem to make some noise due to the gearing. Freeze the ice bucket in your freezer for 24 hours and its ready. Put on the lid with the paddle and motor and away it goes, pour your mixture in and freezing begins immediately. If the mixture actually freezes completely the machine changed direction to remove the blockage, hence the gearing noise I suspect. In around 15 minutes or less I had lovely frozen yoghurt. This unit is great for small-medium loads 1-2 people maybe three at a stretch but if your looking for family sized then this is maybe a little too small for that. There is nothing nicer than fresh home made lemon sorbet on a hot summers day, trust me or try raspberry (even those from a can) is great with any pie or cake.

1.0 out of 5 stars Be careful, this units has power issues., 25 Oct. 2008
The unit, as supplied, has some issues regarding power. The power supply is under rated and the hub does not power manage properly.

This is why I think the power supply on mine exploded, yes, exploded after 4 hours of use.

I would avoid purchasing this unit as it is quite possibly unsafe.

I have returned mine for a refund but that is a second lot of postage to get £7 returned, not worth it, hence I feel ripped off. Be warned!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars They are not LED but normal bulbs, 16 Oct. 2008
I ordered these and they are not LED as in the description but normal bulbs. I like the warm colour they give off but the point of purchasing them was in-part to light an area but also be low power so you need to be aware that these are not as described. They also give off a fair bit of heat, again proving they are bulbs and not LED. I am an electronics engineer and I do know the difference!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sennheiser HD555, look good, feel good, SOUND good., 16 Oct. 2008
My review is for the Sennheiser HD555 headphones. At first listen these appeared to have no bass, I was wrong. You need to get adjusted to these, give them an hour or two and you will see what I mean. They are stunning. The soundstage has vastly expanded compared to my last pair of headphones (also Sennheiser but a cheaper model). I can now separate the instruments and the lead vocals are set in space, its like having the band right there on a stage that happens to be inside your head :-)
One thing to be aware of, was a bit of a disappointment, these have the larger headphone adaptor 1/4inch and then and adaptor down to 3.5mm jack that is used in most things these days which makes it a pretty hefty plug for your ipod, just begging to break your ipod really. Shame it wasnt the other way around. In their defence, unlike most adaptors these are well built and secure and dont wobble at all, not one bit. The cable is shorter than my older Sennheisers, thank goodness as the old one were too long, this is a good length, more than average but not like carrying a drum of cable around :-) They are over the ear and not on the ear, They are open backed and they dont leak an awful lot of noise but keep your ears cool, vented and at the same pressure, I can feel them on my ear lobes but otherwise you wouldnt even know you had them on, quite amazing. Feel good, look good, sound great, yep I recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful consistent pasta with zero effort, 24 Sept. 2008
This product is large but then it does cook a hell of a lot of pasta at once if you need that. Equally it can cook for one person. You fill the removeable bowl with water to the mark, pop it in the base, drop in the basket, fill with pasta (any kind even spaghetti), push the on button, if you need to adjust the time, the default is 10 minutes which give aldente for most pasta so normally turning it on is enough. Once the water is boiling the basket silently drops into the water.

It bleeps at 1 minute to go and then once its done. Then the basket silently lifts up and the pasta is drained and keeps warm in the steam.

There is a timer so you can set this up anytime and as the pasta isnt in the water till it boils it doesnt soften until its cooking.

As its all timed the pasta comes out perfect every time. If you love aldente then this makes this happen every time without fail and without all that testing.

If the pasta isnt to your liking you can get the machine to drop the pasta back into the water and cook it for longer just by pressing the plus button for the amount of minutes you want.

Pretty foolproof and easy to clean. Looks good, works well. What more do you want?

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultra Quiet, No Irritation, Wash Clean, Stylish good value, 12 Sept. 2008
This is an excellent product which I will elaborate more on later however the listing on Amazon has a number of errors. Firstly there are no Fusion Boxes, or F-Boxes or pouches all you get is the Shaver, Shaver head cover, Cleaning brush and Charger which is a 2-pin shaver style. Also this does not have XL heads as far as I can see but HQ8 heads which last for an amazing 2 years! The unit is also warrantied for 2 years. The unit comes with Reflex Action and Individually floating heads, battery charge and battery low LEDs, Pop-Up Trimmer, Auto-Voltage Select and 8 hour charge for 8 days use. The unit cannot be used directly from the mains and must be charged. Having been wet shaving for a number of years I was very surprised to hear how quiet this unit is, it's almost making no noise. It performed as well as a wet shave but with no irritation. It doesnt require a lot of work to remove hair at all, contrary to what others have said. Cleaning could not be easier, this unit is waterproof and you just rinse the heads under the tap. The unit is not heavy and in my opinion is a great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish, modern yet conservative design, slim and well made. 15 Year guarantee., 10 Sept. 2008
This unit is very slim and has a glass top, Amazon have a white and silver version, mine is the silver one. The on/off button is make believe as its under the glass so the unit must sense a change in weight, not sure if it works on a tap or a prolonged press to turn off, havent had much success in that area, LOL. Always managed to get it to turn off just not at first attempt, it does auto power off so that isnt a major issue. It always turns on first attempt. I will get knack, only used it twice. That aside it is very nicely styled modern yet conservative. Works well, lets you reset it with a weight on so you can add stuff and weight that, etc. Uses 2xAAA so easy to replace. One big point to note, its made by Salter and has a 15 year guarantee. Being a glass top with no recesses, its simply wipe clean and put away or leave out, its so slim and nice to look at. Gave it a 5 think it deserves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, works great, tastes great., 5 Sept. 2008
This looks lovely in stainless steel with a crisp snow white top. LCD display that shows options, time (countdown) and cooking stages. buttons to select things like bread type, size of loaf, crust colour. Had bread makers before but this thing actually works for crust colour without burning the crust. My tip use a little milk as it helps it brown. Surprised to get a measuring jug and a nifty little spoon for dry ingredients that is selectable in size between 1 tablespoon to half a teaspoon (very useful!). Also a single button for a fast baked loaf in under an hour. Also has a timer. Oblong loafs not those weird round ones that some bread makers pop out. Though if you like those maybe for danish bread you can order one seperately. Excellent bread from this thing, hooked on it, best I have had from a bread maker. Not had a loaf where the paddle stuck in it yet which is brilliant. It also makes cakes and jams as well as dough and all manner of loaves, white, french, wholemeal, granary, fruit, sweet, you name it. Very versatile. And also VERY quiet, apart from the beeper which is nice and loud so you dont miss that its finished.
