The book is one of the most intriguing of its time, looking at 6 Years, begs viewing Lippard as artist and not curator. The book however is merely a complex listing of happenings from 1966 to 1972 and although a certain amount of knowledge is obvious, often the information given, scratches the surface of its content and leaves the reader wanting more. A project called Materialising Six Years, which took place fairly recently, made it, it's mission to literally materialise everything Lippard had listed, enlightening the reader, by allowing them to see things which have been merely written and read full examples of texts which have just been mentioned. The books are inseparable, Materialising Six Years, relies heavily on the clever organisation of its predecessor and without which is hard to navigate. As a duo, the books prove exceptionally interesting reading and are crucial research material for anyone interested in that period of art, minimalism, post-minimalism, abstraction, conceptual art, performance art ect. This book proves an invaluable research tool and is all the more so if both books are bought and used together.
