Awaken the Inner Shaman: A Guide to the Power Path of the Heart
Awaken the Inner Shaman: A Guide to the Power Path of the Heart
by Jose Luis Stevens
Edition: Paperback
Price: 14.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Book With Universal Appeal, 4 Jun 2014
If you are of a different spiritual persuasion to that of Shamanism then don't get put off by the title of this book. It is the sort of publication that will have great appeal to anyone who is seeking a way to move themselves and their lives on.

The wisdom in this book is timeless and yet the author has done a wonderful job in bringing an understanding of the power centre of the human heart into a modern setting. His explanation of the connections between our inner power centres and its function in creating the sort of life that we were meant to live - rather than the one forced upon us by people and society, makes this an extremely readable and valuable addition to anybody's library of self-development titles.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, the exercises were very easy and yet powerful and you felt that in its author you had a read teacher and guide.

The Witch's Broom: The Craft, Lore & Magick of Broomsticks
The Witch's Broom: The Craft, Lore & Magick of Broomsticks
by Deborah Blake
Edition: Paperback
Price: 13.63

5.0 out of 5 stars An authoriative and essential guide!, 4 Jun 2014
For an object that so many associate with Witches and Witchcraft there was been a surprising lack of practical information about the broomstick and why it forms a central role in the tales of old.

This is a book that has re-examined the Witches broom and as a result placed it firmly back into the heart of the Witchcraft tradition.

From examining broomstick lore through to examples of its use in popular culture this book opens with an engaging account of the broom. From there it takes a practical approach by looking at the process of creating and consecrating your own broom for use in ritual and ceremony.

With insights and stories from other notable Witches this is a book that carries its reader along like a smoothly anointed broom handle at midnight.

It is a fascinating journey of exploration into a previously poorly understood area of Witchcraft and I thoroughly enjoyed absorbing its wisdom.

Totally recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Ever-Deepening Mysteries of Venus, 28 April 2014
If you are looking for a well-researched and radically-different approach to the mysteries of the Divine Feminine then this is a cracking good place to start.

Against the backdrop of the magnificent chapel at Rosslyn, Scotland the book takes its reader on a wonderful expose of the arcane mysteries, the use of sound in buildings and the way in which the cycles of Venus have influenced ancient and mystical scholars throughout time.

Illustrated throughout this is a well-written and engaging account of how it is possible to experience new spiritual vistas with awakened eyes.

Excellent book which would have got five stars if it were not for its lack of photos of the chapel which would have enhanced a readers' understanding of the complexities of the authors' ground-breaking theories.

Nevertheless it is still a very interesting and rewarding read with some equally fascinating theories.

4.0 out of 5 stars At Last an Alternative!, 28 April 2014
In the years following the economic crash of 2008 the World started to wake up to the extensive and mind-bending corruption inherent within all of our governmental and political institutions.

If you feel as angry and depressed by this as I am then you will enjoy this book. Founded upon the principle that openness and collective access to information results in a more democratic and accountable system of governance the author expands in depth upon his personal belief that Open Source principles are as applicable at an institutional level as they are in Information Technology.

The book is an expose of the authors' philosophy as well as containing anecdotal stories regarding the work he has undertaken to try and open up government and their hierarchical systems to a fairer and more effective way of doing things.

This is a book that rattles along at speed and which has been written with passion and emotion. It covers a lot of ground in a short time and must be one of the more grounded treatises on the subject of World and planetary change.

I really enjoyed reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars In Every Regard a Superb Publication!, 22 April 2014
The Essential Lenormand by Rana George is - on every level, a beautifully crafted publication. To anyone who is new to the Lenormand divination system this is an excellent place to start in that provides so much practical insight and guidance to the newbie and yet at the same time provides a wealth of information to established readers of the cards.

Full of supporting images and diagrams as well as specific guidance on how to apply card meanings to different elements of life this book is both a great read and a useful reference. The authors includes anecdotal stories that help the reader to understand how diverse and yet powerful these cards can be in the hands of a skilled reader.

A highly recommended book from someone who does not give 5 stars too often to products!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Extraordinary Account of an Extraordinary Life!, 22 April 2014
The Boy Who Died and Came Back paints a very descriptive experience of one man's experiences with Shamanic dreaming. Robert Moss is, of course, a recognised exponent on understanding the Inner Worlds and how they function.

This is a book that takes you on a personal journey to some strange and wonderful lands - places populated by tribal elders, famous people now deceased and deep into the Underworld. Into these fascinating accounts are woven many of the most important events in Roberts life - such as dying and coming back on no less than three occasions.

If you enjoy Roberts books then this one will thrill and engage you. If you are new to his work then this is a great place to start in that it offers insight, help and guidance as well as anecdotal descriptions of the sort of experiences you may well have yourself once you start learning to control your dreams and to interpret the symbols that emerge.

This is a great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Important Addition to any Magickians Library!, 11 April 2014
If you are interested in Wicca/Paganism, the history of Folk Magick as well as wanting to expand your concepts of what the Magickal arts are about then this book is one heck of a great place to start.

Through its pages the author takes the reader on a fascinating journey through mostly unchartered waters revealing along the way the way that Magick in all its varying forms is practised all over the World.

However it is not a dry and overly-academic treatise but a living and breathing publication that excites and stimulates with its open-ended approach to Magickal philosophy.

I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get a good grounding in what Magick is ultimately all about - freeing your mind and expanding your consciousness.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Heady Tale of Magick and Unicorns, 10 April 2014
The Wizard and the Witch is a true, but stranger-than-fiction, account of two souls who were deeply motivated towards re-introducing an authentic Pagan-based World. Their combined dynamics wove in and out creating a vortex of spiritual energy that resulted in a remarkable series of other-worldly events and several successful publishing projects.

Oberon and Morning Glory stood out from most of their contemporaries in the Hippy generation in that they dedicated themselves to changing what they saw as a spiritually-inert culture. Based upon the love of nature and the rising tide of interest in Goddess worship they had a profound impact upon todays' modern Wiccan and eco warriors.

As a story this book rattles along and drawn into its narrative many people with their own stories to tell of the impact these free-loving individuals had in their lives. It tries to be as honest as possible in its telling but ultimately lacks the real punch that could have been brought to the tale by the inclusion of detailed description of the cosmic events, challenging circumstances and sexual relationships that were formed, forged and broken along the way.

Nevertheless, this is a very worthwhile read and forms an important testament to the lives of two people who were prepared to actively dedicate themselves to their personal philosophies rather than just resorting to sitting around, forming action groups and signing online petitions - as much of today's alternative political movement has a tendency to do.

I found it to be an interesting and telling tale of how far we need to go in order to reclaim our Pagan and spiritual heritage.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Book ABout Drugs for Those People Who Hate Drugs!, 6 Mar 2014
No one is suggesting that the regular infusion of ay sort of consciousness-changing substance is a good habit to get into but as in all other aspects of life there are people who like to challenge and experiment with socially frowned upon activities.

Manifesting Minds is a compilation of essays that look at the use of psychoactive hallucinogens as well as natural and formulated psychedelics by a wide range of people from within a diverse range of social backgrounds.

The book is sectioned off into various categories. These include examinations of drugs in the arts, their impact upon creativity, their use in healing and therapy as well as including insights into the world of drugs and sexuality, spirituality and ecology.

Each essay contained in 'Manifesting Minds' is very readable and thoroughly engaging. On occasions the stories are very moving and reveal how when the boundaries of the human ego are dissolved many miraculous effects can take place.

All of the articles openly challenged my own preconceptions of how drugs, when applied in a carefully controlled environment can enhance human life experience. (and yes, this can include self-administered substance use), I am by no means an advocate of drug use and have never been a supporter of the campaign for drug legalisation but this book certainly made me think past the narrow, artificially imposed limits set by the establishment over their use.

I found the book to be a thoroughly enjoyable read and one that I would recommend to anyone with an open mind or who are seeking a broader base from which to judge drug use today.

The Nine Eyes of Light: Ascension Keys from Egypt
The Nine Eyes of Light: Ascension Keys from Egypt

5.0 out of 5 stars At last - a manual on modern occultism worth reading!, 20 Feb 2014
This was my first introduction to Padma Aon Prakasha and the most recent of his works on contemporary occultism.

From the very start it was obvious that this book has a different quality about it - the style of writing, presentation and even paper it is printed on all establish a high benchmark.

The book itself reveals the Ancient Egyptian approach to Ascension and the process for connecting to one's own Soul. It forms a fascinating treatise on contemporary metaphysics and is packed with insight and information from start to finish.

Few books of this type leave any lasting impression on me but this one is quite different. Its identification of the nine bodies that comprise the totality of who we are and the relationship that each one has to each other will resonate with those readers who have an intuitive sense that the there are other dimensions to their inner worlds - some dark as well as light, that are yet to reveal themselves.

This is no New Age fluff but a serious revelation that should, if it manages to escape the mass of pap that presents itself as spiritual insight, result in the book being seen as a classic work on occultism and one that is truly fit for the 21st century mindset.

I highly recommend it to anyone open minded enough to seek out a radical and authentic re-examination of their spiritual beliefs. In this regard it will reward you to no end!
