Speck SeeThru Satin Case for 13 inch MacBook Air - Clementine
Speck SeeThru Satin Case for 13 inch MacBook Air - Clementine

1.0 out of 5 stars Got one for Macbook Pro and thought this would be the same...I was wrong!, 27 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought one of these for my Macbook Pro 15 and it fits like a glove and is robust and high quality.

The finish on this one when it arrived seemed good but there was a crack on the rear lower corner of the case and it seemed much flimsier than the one for the Macbook Pro. I have since seen a number of reviews advising about cracked Speck cases for the Macbook Air specifically.

It is a shame as I bought a cheap case prior to this and it was awful and I felt so guilty having a £10 case on a lovely Mac that I decided to get the Speck cases. Worked for my Pro but not for the Air in this instance and based upon other reviews I am not convinced yet about replacing it with another Speck case, much as I would love to be proven wrong as they feel of much higher quality to other cases.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute cheap rubbish, 17 Feb. 2013

Bought this and very unimpressed. Very hard to fit, you can easily scratch your mac and when fitted it makes the mac look bloated and like a cheap laptop. I tried a Speck satin and it is worth every penny even though 4 times the price!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book but buy an original print if you can..., 1 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was recommended to me and is a wonderful read. What a wonderful work of literature. You can read it in the historical context and learn about the Spain of the 1830's, in the travel context for people who are interested in the country itself, or in the Christian context which is how I read it. It is a wonderful book for any context or for all three!

However I would recommend buying an original print and not the 'classic reprint' if you have the option as the classic reprint version is pretty much a photocopy of the pages from the original printed version, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired with a lot of bleeding in the text from the copying process (e.g. an 'n' may look like an 'r' or a capital 'B' may look like an 'H' because letter hasn't been copied properly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hmm - a bit of a mistaken title for the book, 14 July 2007

Unfortunately the title of this book implies it is a translation but most is in Greek with notes on the Greek. The notes are in English but are not a direct translation. Just goes to show the saying is true you should never judge a book by its cover!

Mickey Rourke
Mickey Rourke

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book on the actor who wears his heart on his sleeve, 19 Jun. 2006
This review is from: Mickey Rourke (Paperback)
I have always been a huge fan of Mickey Rourke's acting ever since I saw "Homeboy". Yes the film itself has it's weak elements, and a whole host of films Mickey has made have been crap, (as he would readily admit), and yet his acting is simply awesome. In "The Pledge", for the 5 minutes or so he is on screen with Nicholson, it's sheer magic.

Anyway this book was published in 88 and documents his career up until it started to go off course. Its a great read with plenty of photos and information about his early life, the decision to become an actor, and little anecdotes of interest to fans, like the encounter with DeNiro in Angel Heart.

These books are very rare items now so if you want one, pick one up soon. Mine cost me a fortune a couple of years back.

Good to see Mickey making a comeback, hope he continues to do well. For all his failings in decisions on what films to be in, he still has a huge heart, and I respect him for the fact that he has tried to stay real. Yes plastic surgery has cost him looks, but you can still see the fire in him!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Dont listen to the 1st reviewer, they must be on Mars!, 10 Jun. 2005

I've been listening to this album for the last 7 years and it just gets better and better. Dulce has a beautiful and powerful voice, but can also sing wonderfully gently. As someone who has lived in Portugal for over 10 years I know the culture, and this album most definitely reflects it. Contrary to the 1st reviewer who gave one star, I can say that the album does reflect the Portuguese culture. The new generation of middle aged Portuguese professionals are very slick, very suave, and very sophisticated. This album blends the pure Fado experience with the influences of the newer generation, and it does it brilliantly.
The song that one of the other reviewers mentions (the song about the sea) is actually about a beach (Meia Praia) in Lagos, Algarve, where I used to live. Its a simple song about the joys of being alive and the nature around us. If you listen to the song you will hear her sing "Meia Praia" and also about watching the sea gulls "gaivotas".
This album is a MUST BUY its as simple as that. Keep up the wonderful work Dulce!

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece, 3 Jun. 2004

Beautiful film, fantastic soundtrack.
The guitar pieces are great, Eric Clapton and the other artists who have created tracks especially for this, have done themselves proud. Very moody, bluesy, country, a melting pot of musical influences and emotions, very much like the film. I would recommend watching the film as well as playing this soundtrack - the music is a great backdrop to it.
Pretty Baby by JJ Hutto & The New Hawks is a fantastic tune, amongst the others.
My favourites though are the last two, Dixie and Homeboy. If you watch the film, Dixie is at the climax or focal point of the film, and once this is concluded, Homeboy quietly begins and gently rounds off the film in a beautiful way.
You might not like the film, guess it's not everyones cup of tea, but I think its a masterpiece and wonderfully crafted. Incidentally you will see credits on the film for "Eddie Cook". This is actually Mickey Rourke.

God is a Matchmaker

5.0 out of 5 stars If only Christians woke up to this reality, 18 Nov. 2003
This review is from: God is a Matchmaker (Paperback)
Derek Prince yet again has taken the scripture as it is written and opened it up for people to be blessed. Its a unique gift to be able to do this, and it only comes from trusting the scriptures. If you are a Christian and want to know the way God wants to bless you in marriage, I would recommend this. As you read it you will be saying "ah yes of course" as it is so clear, but the challenge then is to put it into practice.
From personal experience, I can guarantee you if you do it the Lords way by honouring Him and allowing Him to lead, you will be very very blessed.
Highly recommended book which helped save me from certain disaster.

The Spirit-Filled Believer's Handbook: Foundations for Christian Living from the Bible (Reflections)
The Spirit-Filled Believer's Handbook: Foundations for Christian Living from the Bible (Reflections)

5.0 out of 5 stars The elementary principles expounded, 18 Nov. 2003
Derek Prince here takes the subject of the elementary principles of Christ from Hebrews 6 and opens them up. Its amazing just how many Christians there are who do not know the elementary principles, in the same way that the writer of Hebrews speaks to the Hebrews about this. If ministers were teaching these principles as per the scriptures, there would be no need for this book, but I would recommend it to anyone who has been recently saved, and wants to know what the basic principles are. It also makes a great teaching support reference for teachers.
The key though is that it is based on the Bible, and I know that Derek Prince himself would have maintained that it should not be read in place of the scripture, but as a reference / support tool.
