Anvil! The Story of Anvil [DVD]
Anvil! The Story of Anvil [DVD]
Dvd ~ Anvil
Price: 5.00

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the story of Anvil!, 7 May 2014
A very good rockumentary of Anvil, one of its main strengths is the friendship between Lips and Rob Rainer, Anvil were apparently very influential, so why didn't they make it? The DVD's weakness is they never really went in depth as to why, but its simple:

They just weren't very good. Sorry to those who are fans of Anvil but its the truth, I do doubt that they were as influential as people on this DVD make them out to be.
Iips runs over to Tommy Aldridge at one point and Aldridge hasn't got a clue who he is, lol) There is nothing wrong with their musicianship per se, its more to do with one singular member than both, who? Steve "Lips" Ludlow. He is a terrible singer, a weak song writer and as goofy as they come. Running around on stage with a d!ldo, really? Smh. If he wasn't in the band, they might have made it big.

To those of you who read this and think I'm trashing the band, I'm not, I respect them for staying true to themselves for so long, and its nice to know they had success afterwards (didn't last though, interest has declined again and there's talk of a follow up to this DVD).

Anyway enough of all that, its really nice to see the friendship between Reiner and Lips, they laugh and fight throughout, you will probably do the same, (not fight of course).

All in all, a very good Rockumentary, its strengths lie in how they try damn hard to succeed, and its nice to see it happen, its weakness is how guys like Lemmy Slash etc, say stuff like "oh yeah they were great, they should've been huge, its because of poor management" etc etc. When in truth they weren't that great from the start. No one admits it though.

I thoroughly recommend this even if you dont like metal as its something any music fan can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will You Be The Last Of Us?, 21 April 2014
This review is from: The Last Of Us (PS3) (Video Game)
The Last of Us is one of the best games I have ever played, (seriously, I've played a lot of fantastic games). The graphics are amazing, it looks so real, the voice acting is some of the best I've ever heard in any game. You truly care what happens to the characters. The scenery is beautiful, so peaceful, but the game gives you a stark reminder that where there is peace, there is caos. The enemy's are quite scary too (well, the fungus infected ones are anyway)

If there is one complaint I have its the shooting, its a little below standard's. I don't think Naughty Dog's strong point is shooting. But that aside, its still an amazing game that you can enjoy playing and watching just as much.

The Death of WCW (Wrestlecrap)
The Death of WCW (Wrestlecrap)
by Bryan Alvarez
Edition: Paperback
Price: 9.79

5.0 out of 5 stars The Death of Pro Wrestling?, 1 Feb 2014
I know what you're thinking, that title is wrong right? Well yes and no, wrestling is still around (and WWE is still making many millions) but since WCW went out of business, the industry has never been the same since. I was never a big fan of WCW, (WWE and ECW fan) but it would be ignorant to ignore the success (and failures) WCW had.

This book tells you HOW to run a wrestling company and at the same time it tells you how NOT to run a wrestling company. With the endless supply of money coming from the very deep pockets of Ted Turner, WCW beat WWE in the infamous 'Monday Night War' for 84 consecutive weeks because it had a huge amountbof talent, groundbreaking storylines and well.... Goldberg. Things got wobbly for WCW during late '98 because those who had a hold of the company weren't higher ups like Eric Bischoff, it was stars like Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash who kept their top spots while keeping the mid carders like Chris Jericho from forever climbing up the ranks.

Along came Vince Russo who worked for WWE's creative team, things then got worse for WCW because Vince Russo's creativity had far too many holes in them.

I don't want to give the whole thing away, but you should really buy this book, even if you didn't like WCW, it tells you what is necessary to be a success in wrestling and it tells you the things that can destroy a wrestling company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorhead will leave you with an AFTERSHOCK!!!, 16 Dec 2013
With Lemmy's health woes plaguing him this past year, its a wonder this album was made so good, its definatly better than 'The World Is Yours', the production is better for a start, plus the songs are as well.

Neither Lemmy Nor Phil nor Mikkey dissapoint, heartbreaker, an excellent start for any band, but with Motorhead, its even better, all 14 tracks are great with my favourite being Keep your powder dry.

You got to buy this album if you are a fan, and even if you're not. Its simply too good. And to anybody thats worried about Lemmy, have no fear, Motorhead WILL be back, you just cant keep a good band down.

Nuff said!

5.0 out of 5 stars Abigail, i know you're in control of her brain...., 16 Dec 2013
This review is from: Abigail [Reissue] (Audio CD)
King Diamond never disappoints, this was his first full length concept album after leaving Mercyful Fate, King Diamond made Fatal Portrait which was not a full length story and while it was a good album, it wasn't until he made Abigail that he truly made his mark. Whats so good about Abigail is that the story is fantastic and well thought out, but more importantly the music is even better, with the eerie opening track 'funeral' the stomping 'arrival', the galloping 'mansion in darkness' the rocking 'family ghost' along with a few others, oh and the title track 'Abigail', my favourite song on this album. King Diamond goes nuts with his falsetto vocals, that newcomers may find difficult to get used to at first but after a few spins you'll be hooked.

Most people say King Diamond never topped this album, which may have a little truth to it, dont discount the mans ability, he has made some fantastic albums with this being his most famous album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is resident evil 6 a success?, 18 Sep 2013
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
On the 2nd of october 2012, resi 6 was released on the eager public. With improved gameplay mechanics and being able to play multiple charecters whose storys and paths cross. So, how good is it? It is a game which has so much potential that does fall flat in some areas, it does have fun moments (there are alot of them, hence 4 stars) but it also gets repetitive and tiresome at times, that and a weak story. only for resident evil completists.

4.0 out of 5 stars motorhead will leave your brain HAMMERED!!!, 14 April 2013
This review is from: Hammered (Audio CD)
2002 was motorhead's 25th anniversary, i suppose many were expecting Hammered to be a classic. Is it? ...well no, but that doesn't mean that its a bad album, quite the contrary, it's a good album, Motorhead have never done a bad album like most bands (metallica's St. Anger for example). The production on this album isn't that good there are times when listening to this album that it will come across a little lifeless, however it still has strength in it. With songs like 'walk a crooked mile' 'down the line' 'brave new world' 'voices from the war' 'red raw' and 'serial killer' those are the real stand out songs. Speaking of 'serial killer' it actually has no music, just a background noise and lemmy, plus special guest WWE wrestler Triple H doing the vocals.

The rest of the songs on this album are rather boring, still if you dont bother with the songs you wont like, there is still plent of material here to keep you happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best Resident Evil game, 8 April 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Resident Evil 2 (PS) (Video Game)
Resident evil 2 is the best resi game ever, not many games scare me as much as this.

you get to play two charecters, leon S. Kennedy, and claire redfield. Each charecter have different scenario's, they are scenario A and B, they are both trying to escape from the city from the zombies and other monsters, there paths cross occasionally but you are mostly on your own. Resident evil 1 gave birth to survival horror, and resident evil 2 follows the same way. if you can get past the pre - rendered backgrounds, fixed camera angles, 2D polygonal models and cheey voice acting then you'll love this game.

buy it, you wont be disapointed, just dont play it at night, I'VE WARNED YOU!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars listening to motoheads 2004 album is like being in an... INFERNO!!!, 15 Dec 2012
This review is from: Inferno (Audio CD)
Lemmy once said "i dont think we've ever made a bad album". thats true, however during the second half of the 90's they made some albums that havent been, well... 'classics' is the best word i could use, they werent bad albums by any means but the songs just wasnt all there for those records., but then again the 90's was an atrocious decade for most bands. After releasing 'We are Motorhead' (2000) and 'Hammered' (2002), Motorhead finally bounced back in 2004 with 'Inferno'. believe me this is one of motorheads best ever albums, hears a list of the tracks:

Terminal show:
a great opener, great riffs which is always memorable. 4/5

really good intro from lord axesmith himself phil campbell, with a good chorus too. 4/5

In the name of tragedy:
the drums on this song from mikkey dee are proof as to why he's the best drummer in the world. one of the best songs on the album. 5/5

the weakest song on 'inferno' but still has its moments, a good chorus though. 3/5

Life's a bitch:
a very bluesy song from motorhead, which has great guitar work from phil campbell. 4/5

Down on me:
a very good song which has a great chorus, makes you want to start headbanging 5/5

In the black:
one of the longest songs on the album, with fantastic riffs, and brilliant drums from mikkey dee. 5/5

In the year of the wolf:
a really good song with great lyrics from lemmy. 5/5

The keys to the kingdom:
this song is my personal favorite from 'inferno', fantastic riffs, and one of phil campbell's best ever solos. 5/5

Smiling like a killer:
another great track from the record, with a stomping chorus. 5/5

Whorehouse blues:
no drums just an accoustic guitar, lemmys vocals, and a harmonica, pure 'ROCK N ROLL' 5/5

overall a fantastic album and an absolute classic. 10/10

2.0 out of 5 stars the metal has been turned black (and not in a good way), 19 Oct 2012
This review is from: Metal Black (Audio CD)
with a great album cover, and good titles for the songs, i was really looking forward to this album, only to be dissapointed by it. some people complain that the production is bad... well this is venom after all, if your looking for an album with fantastic sound, go look somewhere else. the problem with 'metal black' is the songs, they are very uninspired, to many songs just chugg along without any difference, and i hate to say it because venom are one of my favorite bands but... its their worst album, its just too boring. however its not completley lacking in decent songs, their are a few like: 'antechrist' ''burn in hell' and 'rege satanas' venom did improve with the 2008 album 'hell' but not by much.
