The Cat, Past and Present
The Cat, Past and Present
by Champfleury
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.49

2.0 out of 5 stars Great book, terrible edition, 22 Mar. 2013
Champfleury is one of the most important writers of the nineteenth century so of course this book is worth getting hold of. However, this particular edition is poorly translated, with typos and printing errors throughout. Quite disappointed.

The best book I've read yet on the representation of women in 19th century french art. Applies to literary research as well as visual. As it is a collection of essays it offers a broad spectrum of approaches and ideas. A definite recommendation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for students of late 19th century literature, 15 Nov. 2010
The book is in very good condition and was delivered promptly. This is a great book for a good general overview of european literary movements and themes between 1890 and 1930 but also essential for reference when focussing on a particular theme, country or writer. Accessible and useful for many different contexts. Definite recommendation.

Fascinating book in very good condition. Prompt delivery and definitely in the condition I would expect. A definite recommendation for anyone with an interest in feminist criticism in art history, especially for those specialising in the 19th century.
