I had heard so much Hype about this series, but did not get round to watching it till this month. I watched the first episode, and could not understand the Hype, but am so glad I hung in there. No other series has had me hooked in this way other than The Wire: Complete HBO Season 1-5 [DVD] It got to a point where I would get up early in the morning, so I could watch an episode before I went to work.

The characters, story and creativity are outstanding. I was irritated by Hank, Skyler,Marie and Jessie at the start, but I started to sympathise with all the Characters. Watching Walt transform from Mr Regular Chemistry teacher, to a deadly Druglord was something else. The codependent relationship Jessie has with Walt, and the internal struggles Jessie faces. All the questions about Morality in the series, made me think.

At what point do you draw the line to do righ for your family?

I am feeling the same sense of loss that I felt when the Wire ended. I loved this series.

I have read Half of a Yellow Sunand Purple Hibiscus (P.S.) This is so different, and definitely my favourite. The book starts off in Lagos, following the lives and relationship between Ifem and the Obinze. It goes on to Ifem's experience in America, as a non American black, her experiences of racism, issues Black women have with their hair, and her relationships. It also looks at Obinze's experience in the UK.Then the final part explores their lives when they return to Lagos. I loved this book. Her observations of the immigrant experience in America and the UK, were hilarious and real. I warmed to Ifem and Obinze. The challenges they both face when they move back to Nigeria. The behaviour of returnees was on point. The book is mainly about the experience of Nigerians, although some of the tales could fit for immigrants from other countries. I liked Auntie Uju, and her description of her relationship with the General, and also her observations of kept women, and how they are struggling to survive, was amusing.

Dante is out searching for his daughter Lucky. He will do anything to get her back, and anyone who had anything to do with her kidnapping, faces torture that is unimaginable. Dante has always been a force to be reckoned with, but you sympathise with him, despite the evil he inflicts on others. The question is constantly raised about what you would do if you were in that situation. He pulls in men from all the different States, Princess,Damian and the rest of the Reigns family are helping in any way they can. It has an impact on their finances, and affects their power base, when they pull their men out of the different states to help in the search. You are left wondering, whether this incident will destroy the Reigns family. Damian is concerned that Dante has lost his mind, and feels that he has to try and keep things together. Peaches reappears. I suggest that if you have not read the Peaches takeover books, you do as this book follows on from what happened to Peaches in those books. I did not want this to end, and hope there is a part 6.

Caleb Alexander had me hooked on this book. The Reigns are pushed against the wall, as the Mexican border has been closed. It has an impact on all of their businesses. No drug supplies coming through. Bio one starts having problems, as the drugs are not what they were made out to be. The commission would like to get rid of the Reigns. The Colombian cartel want to teach the Reigns a lesson. You get to see a softer side of Dante in this book, but he still is one of the deadliest and ruthless members of the family. You are also introduced to some new characters in this book. I can't wait for book five.

There is a lot of repetition in this book from Books one and two, which was disappointing. The Reigns are still at war, taking some hits. Dante, Damian and Princess are still sticking together, trying to keep things together. They have not been eliminated yet.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I found it slow to start with, but it picked up. The book is about four friends Portia,Laila,Fatima and Simone. Portia works as a stripper, despite having a degree in accounting. She ends up falling in love with one of her customers Jay, and then decides to leave stripping. Jay has feelings for Portia, but has difficulty trusting her, as he knows what she got up to as a stripper. Fatima works in the music industry, and has a thing for young men. She meets Wise one of Jay's friends and changes her behaviour. Laila is married with two kids, and is having problems with her husband Khalil. Simone is going out with a colleague who is married, who ends up giving her something she had never imagined. There is an underlying message throughout the book about safer sex, which makes you really think. Once I got into the book, I could not put it down.

I found this book slow to start with, then it picked up. The plot is different to Deadly reigns 1, as Damian,Dante and Princess are loyal to each other. Princess is not out to kill her brothers in this book. The Reigns are not untouchable, and take a number of hits.Throughout the book, you don't know whether this is the end of the Reigns, as they are left vulnerable. Dajon, the younger brother, who did not want to get involved in his family dirty business, is forced to stand in temporarily, when his family takes some hits. I found myself feeling sorry for ruthless Princess while she was in hospital. Full of suspense, violence, murder, betrayal and deception, as the Reigns take back what they have lost, and punish those who betray them, in their usual style. The ending leaves you wondering what will happen next, and whether the family are going to survive.

This is the first book that I have read by these authors. I loved this book. The Reigns family, run one of the biggest drug empires, in the US.Damian graduated from Harvard with an MBA. He is smart, smooth and the perfect gentleman. Dante is known by the FBI as Satan, he is trigger happy, and makes Hitler look like a Tibetan monk.He has a degree from Princeton in Psychology, is skilled in torture, and will not let the commission get in his way. Princess wants to control the family empire,at any cost. She is ruthless, brutal, and will do anything to kill off her brothers. Dajon is clean, and does not want to get involved in any dirty work.

The FBI have lost several field agents to the Reigns family, and want to bring them down. They call in agent Grace Moore, to go undercover as Damian's girlfriend. She is experienced, but falls for Damian's charm, and starts to doubt what she knows. The Reigns manage to stay one step ahead of law enforcement. This is a page turner, full of suspense, plotting, crime and deception.

I love the Church series. This book comes after Up to no good, in the church series. The book starts off with the Choir director leaving,as his wife finds out he is gay and exposes him, during a service. Aaron Mackie gets the new job as Choir director. He is a fine looking man, who can sing, and bring in the crowds and money for the church. The other main characters in this book are the Bishop, Monique,Simone, a crazy, nasty trustee, who is up to no good and Tia the church administrator. I was disappointed in Monique(the first lady), and the direction she took in this book. Deacon James Black proves how good a friend he is to the Bishop, till the very end. The ongoing theme is what people will do to get what they want. Betrayal, scandal, lies, backstabbing, blackmail and deception. First Jamaica Ministries is full of it.

We are introduced to James Black in the First Lady. He is a deacon in the church, and is open about not being a one woman man. I could not keep up with the numbers of women he used, for a man in his forties, he got around. He is a commitment phobe. He does not believe in love, but then meets someone who changes his attitude. His children Darnel and Jamie are influenced by his behaviour. Darnel is about to marry his childhood sweetheart Keisha, and would never cheat on her. He has her on a pedestal, discovers that she has cheated on him, and can't cope. He becomes obsessed with her, starts stalking her. Jamie, is a daddy's girl. She is spoilt, and insecure within her relationship. Each character has issues with trust. Jamie and Darnel come across as crazy at points in the book, and you can see where this stems from. The way the book ended was unexpected.
