1.0 out of 5 stars All illustrations garbled on Kindle, 27 Dec 2013
As the essence of this book is the space/time plots and these are completely garbled and unreadable on a kindle selling this is a bit like fraud. Well done Amazon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Britain?, 9 Dec 2012
This is a fascinating book indeed and very refreshing. But why oh why has it been given the title it has? This is a history of England after the fall so do not be misled. Judging by the titles in the other books of the series they are the same.

1.0 out of 5 stars The only trouble is.........................................., 23 Oct 2012
Read my way through this as it is a topic that fascinates me. Very lucid writing and all very interesting but at the end the author basically admits that he has no idea why there is something rather than nothing but at some stage scientists will find the answer. Ho Hum.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless stimmer, 24 Mar 2012
Bought one of these last spring. By the end of the summer all 4 plastic lugs holding the screws for the cover had broken off. Local garden shop says it is unfixable . Useless. No wonder Amazon doesn't sell them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best goggles I have ever had, 30 Oct 2010

I bought a pair of these from Amazon and after I got home from the first time I used them I ordered another 4 pairs just in case they ever go out of production.

At last someone has got goggle manufacturing right.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 months of use and still no faults, 1 Oct 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered one of these at the end of June. Came two days later, I switched it on, put in the password and it worked immediately and has done so flawlessly ever since. The only time I have fiddled with it was to set up presets and change the home menu (the latter being a brilliant feature). Hit the menu to play all my music randomly or switch to bbc iplayer all at the press of a button. Sync to my main stereo or not all at the press of a button.

Don't really understand negative reviews - I can't find any faults at all.

How Language Works: How Babies Babble, Words Change Meaning and Languages Live or Die
How Language Works: How Babies Babble, Words Change Meaning and Languages Live or Die

1.0 out of 5 stars What is the point of this book?, 28 April 2006
Anyone expecting to find what the blurb says on this book is in for a big disappointment. There is nothing new, no opinions to chew over just a very rushed synopsis of everything that has to do with language. Anyone who has reached adulthood will know 90% of what this book contains anyway. A good 20% of the book is made up of a listing of world languages - no interesting detail just a listing.

Professor Crystal also holds the very odd view that language evolved 30,000 years ago some 30,000 years after man reached Australia. So how did that happen?
