5.0 out of 5 stars it was really easy to set up, 25 Aug. 2014

after spending weeks deliberating which tablet to buy, weighing up all the pro's and con's, and changing my mind over and over - i finally settle on the 16gb hdx this weekend due to an offer in a high street store with £60 off plus £20 gift vouchers.. so such a bargain made the decision for me. i have the kindle touch ereader, which is still running perfectly, but wanted something to bridge the gap between my mobile and my laptop, so buying a tablet was on the cards.

im absolutely sure i made the right decision! it was really easy to set up, literally just using the email address i have linked to amazon, and my amazon password..and voila all my previous purchases on books and music were there without me having to do a thing. my email, facebook and twitter were linked simply by logging them in (although i have downloaded both the free facebook and twitter apps). and even though its my first actual tablet i have found it super easy to navigate. everything i am trying to access is easy, and exactly where you expect it to be. the screen is stunning and clear, and after listening to music the sound is fantastic too. connecting to broadband was a doddle, and even though i dont have fibre optic or anything, infact i only get around 2mb download speeds at the moment, i was on youtube watching music videos with zero buffering. i know some people complain about the silk browser, but i dont see any problems with it myself.

the other issue people complain about is the app store, and the fact you have a watered down version of android, via amazon. well so far, every app i have searched for bar instagram has been found and downloaded, and again i see no issue (although its my first android device so to be fair i dont really know any better) and amzon give you 400coins (£4.00) of credit for you to use in their app store, so depending on price you can get upto 4 or 5 apps paid apps for free (As well as the 1000s of free ones). i havent yet used the camera, but i plan on using for skype and im sure its going to be more than adequate for my needs. it came with around 50% charge, so i could use it out of the box. it charges reasonably quickly and battery life seems really good (although imagine a tablet with the battery life of a kindle touch - lets hope that happens in the future) it also feels great in the hands, is lightweight and easy to handle. so far so good, and it really is that simple to find your way around, but the mayday button is always there if you need it. the offer is still running from where i bought it from, so if you are umming and ahhhing then at that price, with the voucher offer as well you really cant go wrong. 5 stars for a great product. well done amazon

of all the things said about kylie in her 25 year music career, one thing has always been agreed upon - shes a bonafide pop icon. one of the things people seem to dispute is her voice. can she really sing?

the simple answer is yes. kylies voice is very unique and instantly recognisable, but some people will be 'shocked' at the strength, and emotion this woman pours out into these 16 tracks. if you didnt know any of these songs you would like this album and at no point doubt this womans voice. however knowing the origins of these songs and hearing them in this new guise is staggering.

out go the dance beats, and layered vocals... and in come the strings, guitars and pianos. there are no smoke and mirrors on this album. the stunning bond-esque drama of cant get you out of my head, and finer feelings sweep you away in an epic landscape of violins. the old locomotion cover which was the naffest form of pop, is turned into motown-esque girl group pastiche. confide in me is as powerful as ever and seems to work with any rework thats ever been thrown at it, and is definately a highlight.

the two standout tracks though are the kiddies disco favourites from back in the day (1989 infact) hand on your heart is a stripped down guitar track, which follows closely to the jose gonzalez version a few years back.. and is a revelation. the other is never too late. a simple piano-vocal track, which oozes kylies vunerable heartfelt lyric and is a beautiful way to close this acoustic/orchestral masterpiece. after 25 years in the business, kylie has nothing to prove... but if there was just the tiniest speck of doubt, it will have long since dissipated by the close of the album. there are very few popstars who could have pulled such a feat off, and kylie has thrown everything shes got into this album, announcing to the world that she could very well be the best female vocalist in popmusic today, and will still likely be going strong when most of todays female pop pretenders have fallen by the wayside. order your copy today!

as others before me have said, i am also a huge fan of terry goodkind. so im likely to have a little bias when it comes to new material from him.
i have to say i loved this book and read it within 4 days. the story is great, and i loved learning the back story for magda, barracus, lothain and quinn..all characters which have been mentioned historically throughout the sword of truth series. as always, terry brings to life strong memorable characters that worm the way into your heart and mind. with the confessor being one of the most intriguing 'creatures' in his series of books it was great to learn how it all began. as usual, some of the characters speeches are can be a little too long and repetitive but for me these are the only negatives i have to say about any of his work. i also agree that this is not the book to start with before you read the swrod of truth books... i think, just like debt of bones..there is more enjoyment to be gained in retrospect by reading this book in its correct sequence. one of the things that hooked me on the books in the first place was the secrecy surrounding kahlan and learning about who she was and what she could do. so i know i wouldnt have wanted to have read this and blunted that experience. i also enjoyed learning about orden and the history behind protecting that mysterious and strange power.

a great read which has made me want to start on terrys books again. if your a fan of the sword of truth series this is a must. if your just starting out, start with wizards first rule and read the books in sequence - you wont be dissapointed

i have always been a fan of james herbert, but after struggling through his book 'moon' i wasnt feeling excited about picking up 'others'

however the feeling soon changed. the opening chapter was fantastic, and intriguing and pulled me straight into the book. although the opening chapter doesnt really continue in the same vein, i got stuck into the main story and characters and i sailed through the whole book in no time. the story of the main character and unlikely hero nicholas and his unknown fight to save his soul was brilliantly written. the story is mysterious enough to pull you in, and gives you a little more along the way to keep you hooked. but when the 'others' are introduced to the reader, the story and horror really settles into your heart and brain and the story hits full adreline right to the fantastic climax.

many herbert books are good and enjoyable, but usually by the time ive read one and started on the next i can barely remember much about the previous book ive read, which is fine because it entertains me for the duration. but this book has stuck with me for weeks now, and i believe it will worm its way into the hearts and minds of all fans of this genre.

whats more, at the time of writing this the kindle edition is only 99p. you cant buy anything for 99p as brilliant as this awesome piece of entertainment

5.0 out of 5 stars worth every penny, 3 Jun. 2012

after years of hoarding books, that i cant bear to part with. i decided a kindle touch would be the way to go. the initial thing that attracted me to it was the thought of no more clutter, but i worried that i wouldnt have the same experience reading from a screen as i would a book.

i opted for the touch version, as i have a touch screen mobile phone so thought i would find it easier to use. after reading my first book on it - i have no regrets whatsoever. i havent had an ebook reader before so i have nothing to compare it to. but i absolutely ove this gizmo.

the screen is great and easy on the eye, so you dont get the strain you do with a book. the touch screen is responsive, and it feels so much easier that holding a paperback book. if anything i find im reading faster thanks to the screen. all the bits and bobs of technology might be useful such as the dictionary and xray features. and i can easily use the web browser to take a nosey on facebook or twitter. the menus are easy to navigate, and you can download a full book within seconds. i havent got any problems with the product at all, and ive no doubt that i will never feel the urge to stockpile books again, as every book you buy is stored and is available when you want it without taking up any space on a shelf. i cant be happier with it, and i would recommend it to anybody whos in two minds of trying out this technology.

the only negatives i have are not with the product itself. the first is that it really should come with a plug in electrical adapator. the computer charger isnt really convenient when it takes around 4 and a half hours to fully charge. i know ipods and things come with this kind of charger, but i would doubt very much if any kindle user hasnt stumped up for a normal charger (although do avoid the amazon full priced adaptor and opt for the cheaper one available on here - it works just as well). the other is the cost of some of the ebooks. i think a downloaded product should be much cheaper that a physical book, as the costs are much lower. some books are, but some of them are very overpriced and a lot of my favourite authors, i can pick up in cheap bookshops brand new for half the price of some of the ebooks (although i have managed to buy 2 books for 89p by my favourite authors - so its not all bad). but these gripes have nothing to do with the kindle itself and its a nice handy product for anybody who likes to bury themselves in a good book.

decided to purchase a charger for my kindle touch, as the computer adaptor is just not a covenient way to charge it.

this charger was much cheaper than the amazon one, and works perfectly for a fraction of the cost. nothing much i can add to that, except that i believe this would be as good as the official one, so dont waste your money on a more expensive item when this does just the same

this is a great item, and a fantastic accessory for your kindle touch.

much cheaper than similar items available, but doesnt look tacky. the faux leather is quite realistic and the kindle touch fits nicely inside using small straps at each corner. it feels safe and secure, and fastens and unfastens nicely with the magnetic clip. the free book light is a nice addition. its not really something i will use, but im sure some of you out there will find it really useful. buy this product with confidence, and save a packet on the cost of similar items. the extra cash will buy you a few more ebooks
