Shadow of the Serpent (An Inspector McLevy Mystery Series Book 1)
Shadow of the Serpent (An Inspector McLevy Mystery Series Book 1)
Price: £1.19

4.0 out of 5 stars Class Act, 2 Aug. 2012
This is a genuinely good thriller, more literary than the blurb might suggest - does Sherlock Holmes really need to be name checked on the cover? I assume this is to drag Conan Doyle ficionados into reading the book, but no matter they should enjoy the experience, as did I.

3.0 out of 5 stars IM not sorry, 21 Jun. 2012
I have to agree with others who have said that a lot of information provided is badly researched and inaccurate. It would seem that the Authors of the book were conflicted between making this a humorous light hearted read poking fun at the British or making it an incisive fact laden observation of life in the U.K and subsequently it achieves neither.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOL, 15 Jun. 2012
I loved the fact everyday subjects were covered with a normal view, no fairytale crap or saying something to please the masses, just a humorous spin on life. I mean I was laughing about death which is weird ....ha hah get this book ...simples.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombies 101, 22 May 2012
This review is from: Zombieland [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
It has appeal for both men and women as it does seem to tick all the boxes. It contains in the story - love, loss, redemption, zombie apocolypse and not to mention bags of comedy moments and lots of inventive ways to dispatch of those pesky zombies! This really is a great popcorn movie to share with friends or that special someone.Bill Murry cameo to die for,Loved it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pure popcorn, 21 May 2012
This review is from: Unknown [DVD] (DVD)
The first half is a bit predictable and similar to several other plots seen before. Towards the middle of the story there are a couple of twists and the plot becomes more interesting, pace picks up and you really wonder how it's going to end,get some popcorn and tuck in !

5.0 out of 5 stars REAM, 29 April 2012
The main characters in this are very well described and you are able to get a feel for their personalities. There are a number of side issues and the author definately makes it hard for the reader to put the book down.
Its very well researched and I suspect there are elemenst of real life in the book that certainly makes you think.
Unlike a few crime novels where you cannot help thinking the story is a bit too far fetched, this is reaistic throughout

5.0 out of 5 stars Great prequel, 21 April 2012
This review is from: The Thing (2011) [DVD] (DVD)
The film centers around a group of scientists who discover an alien buried deep in the ice near their Antarctica research site.I liked the 1982 remake and like most people was unaware that this film was a prequel and not a remake. I watched it the other night and must say, quite impressed. Well more surprised as I didn't think much of it prior to viewing it.The feature begins in the stunning setting of the Antarctica, has a tense start, cracks on with good thrills and a twist here and there. The horror is done well and the ending is perfect tying up with the sequel. Also it wasn't dumb as a lot of horror movies turn out to be.A good prequel to the carpenter movie, kurt is one of the best actors i think in this kinda genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than an overhyped borebuster, 16 April 2012
This review is from: Troll Hunter [DVD] (DVD)
It is a mockumentary foreign (Norwegian) Film whereby a film crew team up with a Government Troll Hunter! The idea is fun and the film appears to have fun with subject, masking the absurdity with a plausible explanation as the film develops and progresses nicely.Yes, granted it is silly at times, but it boasts some praiseworthy effects, lines and scenes. It entertains, gripping you with an almost believable and likeable story, worthy of most horror/thriller type plaudits. The level of escapism and individuality should be noted and will appeal to some - this is an independent, cult film after all,its the essence!
Sheer fun entertainment and an enjoyable plot, this is how films should be made and not like the force fed hollywood crap we are brainwashed into watching .................

5.0 out of 5 stars Drive, 1 April 2012
This review is from: Drive [DVD] (DVD)
On the big screen, this film is a 5 star movie. It is well made, well acted (by the lead characters) and has nice moments, violent moments and exhilirating moments all put to the screen in a very stylish way. The dvd lacks extras and watching it on anything less than cinema quality, i feel you miss out on the full intensity of a great soundtrack, great car chase scenes and violence that is intentionally over the top as our lead is forced to get nasty to protect the ones he loves.

Swarm (Star Force Series Book 1)
Swarm (Star Force Series Book 1)
Price: £2.50

4.0 out of 5 stars Swarm, 30 Jan. 2012
This book was fun and a very quick read. Some have compared the author to Heinlein. I would disagree and see more Andre Norton type writing with some adult sexual nature thrown in. But, not quite to Norton's level yet. This book is not for the person looking for an intellectual fantasy. This book sticks with many cliches: the indidvidual against the evil outside aliens, coupled with incompetent and slightly evil governments. The governement appears to have nothing but idiots working for them and if it wasn't for the brilliant hero who single handed leads Earth to survival all would be lost. The price is right and you don't have to force yourself through the book. Good entertainment, but don't think about it too much.
