5.0 out of 5 stars StarPAD 7 ...Highly Recommended!, 20 April 2013

This is one of the best value for money tablet on the market. I will not go through into technical details as you may find in the product's description or other reviews but I would like to highlight few excellent features ...almost unique!!

Top rating for the battery! I am on the move all the time and I needed something always ready but with long life battery. This is the right product. Last time I have been using it for all day, keeping it on stand by when not in use and the battery lasts for about 24 hours or so.

Top rating for the regular USB connection! It is great because even if this model does not have the sim card slot you can connect your internet dongle using the USB! which is great when you do not have any WiFi available! Indeed the WiFi connection is working great too!

Top rating O.S. and deisign! I bought about a month ago and up to now it did never crash!! Excellent speed and graphic too. Easy to use and compete with all the basic software you may need to start straight away!

and last but not least ...Top rating accessories ! It has arrived in a nice box full of interesting accessories. 12V car carger ! UK Regular Charger ! Leather-like protecting sleeve! Headbuds ! and a basic english user manual!

The delivery took longer than expected however this is not related to the product and in any case I did order on Tue and I got it on Fri with FREE shipping within the UK ...which is good too!

Excellent product ! I absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good quality tablet without spending a fortune.

I really recommend this dictionary, it's dense and rich of new, old and more technical words. A lot of sentences and examples. It is really important to a have a dictionary always available and this one is one of the best.

Though true stories and sea accidents explains the maritime law. So will make you read easy a complicated and sometimes boring subjects. I really recommend this book especially if you are a lawyer, a boat owner, a captain or a politician. Very interesting stories of legal trials behind oil spillage, or wrecks etc..

5.0 out of 5 stars A very clear book, 14 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very clear and direct. A lot of pictures and graphics. The book covers all the Sea Survival elements with a touch of related subjects like Fire onboard, Sailing in storms, First Aid, MOB etc.. The book is written for small yacht so if you are a Large Yacht or Code vessel will not really cover all the requirements and legal references.

It is a very technical book indeed. If you are in the Maritime Business you must read it. It is a good reference to have on board. The fact that is very technical means that you need to have an officer background and it is a very good book to study for MCA OOW or Master Oral exams. The book is intended mainly for Merchant business but I am using as a reference in the Yachting industry. You have a very useful questions-answers part at the end of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mine's bigger...capital venture, risk, adventure and sailing!, 4 July 2010

Very interesting book. If you like the adventure, the business, the risk and of course boats you have to read it. Do not expect navigation or sailing lessons. Will be all about the world around the biggest sailing private yacht...the Falcon Maltese and his owner Tom Perkins.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Seamanship Examiner, 20 May 2010

Absolutely a must have book before attending any MCA Deck Oral Exam. It's a unusual book. It's a list of possible Oral Exam Questions with the answers given. Will give you an idea of what you may be asked and how the examiner will conduct the examination. The book is divided into sections in according to the grade of exam you are taking. There is not a specific section for Yacht (the book was made for Merchant officer and master exams) but I did use this book for my MCA Yacht Master oral exam and I passed it. But be aware do not use only this book for prepare the exam, this is just a way to test your preparation.
Included in the book there is a CD too. With all the possible ColRegs questions. It's not just a light combination it's a simulator with a built in radar: Very useful for the Colregs Rule 19 questions.

It's a very interesting book. If you plan to sail on a long passage (Ocean, Offshore or even coastal) you MUST have. It's full of technical details, examples, real stories and practical advises. Not advisable for someone who doesn't know nothing about sailing. You need a maritime background. If you are a Skipper, Captain or boat owner you need this book. If you are fascinating about sea going stories and sea storm witnesses story definitely buy this book.
