3.0 out of 5 stars A tad disappointing, 11 Jan 2007
This review is from: Bags Bags Bags (Hardcover)
The book cover states '18 stunning designs for all occasions'. Well there are a variety of different styles here, all very simple & perfectly acceptable but as far as my own personal taste goes, not one of them is anything close to 'stunning', nor was there anything in here to inspire me. Having said that, the book is nicely laid out with clear photography & easy to follow practical instructions including how to fit various types of handles. If you already have a stack of craft patterns from the large paper pattern companies then you probably already have most of what is in this book.

Firstly, if you look at the cover of the book in the photo you will see that there are actually 15 bags in this book not 20 but dont let that put you off. It is a nicely laid out book with some stunning photography of the natural world that the author has used to inspire her designs. There are quite a few different needlework techniques used to create some very nice tactile pieces of fabric art. I would say that this book is best suited to someone starting out on the hobby level. The author makes the assumption that you already know how to fit various fasteners so probably not best suited to an absolute beginner in sewing. If you are a beginner in designing bags then you will enjoy the layout & ideas in the book. If you are already established in this area I would say this probably isnt a book that you would get any new ideas from.
