2.0 out of 5 stars Beware parasitic electrical fields, 18 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Tried one of the six before fitting the rest and very glad we did. After a couple of days of satisfactory performance - a good light and lots of it - it suddenly started flashing every 15 seconds, very brightly, and despite being switched off. Not appreciated at 1am. The only explanation I can come up with is a stray electrical field from a live cable over 50cm away and badly shielded and rapidly degrading electronics. Brightlitz refunded everything including return postage without quibble; cannot fault their customer service.

Art History: A Critical Introduction to Its Methods
Art History: A Critical Introduction to Its Methods
by Michael Hatt
Edition: Paperback
Price: £14.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-written and very informative, 29 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a set text on my course and unlike some others is accessible, entertaining and at the same time 'academic' and informative. For the art gallery/museum goer it is worth reading for general interest and to get the thought processes going.

HP LaserJet Toner 4L/4P 92274A
HP LaserJet Toner 4L/4P 92274A

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, great price, 29 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Our Laserjet 4L is now elderly so I'm not buying top-price cartridges for it as I know if I do it'll die and I'll have wasted my money. This is original HP in its sealed bag and cheaper than a compatible, just didn't come in the original box. So far performs as well as expected.

Piranha 10mm Drill Bit Tile/ Glass
Piranha 10mm Drill Bit Tile/ Glass
Price: £10.97

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value, good product, 25 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Has proved to drill good, clean holes and is lasting much longer than I expected for the money. You can pay 10 times this for something to do the same job, no doubt they last much longer than this will, but for an occasional user the cheaper version is just fine.

Price: £5.51

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, good value, 25 Oct. 2013

Surprisingly good for the money - expected short life and ragged holes but not the case. Just take your time and make sure you drill slowly so it doesn't get too hot.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works!, 6 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well made and has caught its first rabbit. Getting the trip to work was a bit tricky, either too stiff or (after spraying all the hinge pins with WD40) too easily triggered but bending the mechanism a bit helped. When setting, make sure you engage the hook on the rolling sleeve - works much better, as it should but there are no instructions worth having on the box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, 6 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Was required for rabbit-proofing an existing wooden fence. Does the job, is of reasonable quality but probably not strong or rigid enough to work without the support of the fence to which it is stapled - but the 50m length is very easy to handle and makes a nice neat finish, without breaking the bank.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, 20 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Description states that these are for 3mm and 4mm glass, but they cannot be made to fit the latter, and the original label on the packaging (over which a barcode label had been placed) just referred to 3mm.

Plays Unpleasant: Widowers' Houses; The Philanderer, and, Mrs Warren's Profession
Plays Unpleasant: Widowers' Houses; The Philanderer, and, Mrs Warren's Profession
by George Bernard Shaw
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Old but new, 18 Mar. 2011
By which I mean that this secondhand book, 1946 edition, hadn't been used. Which for 1p is good value. Postwar paper though, which is like toilet paper. Not so very keen on GBS, upper middle class socialist glossing over the stark facts of the bulk of prostitution to make a point against upper middle class morals (I bought it for Mrs Warren's Profession). Might hang it in the cludgie...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware of this edition..., 18 Mar. 2011
This book (the Oxford edition edited by Bissenden) contains the complete text of the play, with footnotes, etc. But it starts with a long piece by the editor, giving social and political context, on the first page of which is the statement that the play was first performed in 1740, which is 140 years or more after it was written. I made the mistake in an essay of taking this and other such information as being reliable, as this is an Oxford University edition. It turns out that (according to my university at least) the editor has little or no justification for quite a lot of what he writes - and my essay was criticised accordingly. In retrospect, losing a Shakespeare play for 140 years is quite an important claim and it might have been expected to be mentioned in a lecture. Moral - use more than one source if you can, especially for 'social context' information. The editor of the Arden edition apparently (I haven't checked) cites and references her dating of the play and its performances. Also, check the date - this book was first published in 1993, perhaps a bit long ago to be sure it hasn't been superceded.
