4.0 out of 5 stars DOOM MONSTER ISLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 12 May 2005
This review is from: On the Ropes (Audio CD)
the only reason i bought this cd because of the two doom tunes and it was only 2, one of the doom tunes is so dope with 2 rappers i never heard of before called kevrok and vultcha and to this day never heard of again, on closer inspection of the cover i realised it was produced by x-ray aka king ceaser from MIC, it has some megalon tracks on it repping MIC, it has a rapper called KD who will imerge as kamackeris from MIC so this turns out to be a very DOOM MONSTER ISLAND related album, so if you like doom etc or just like unknown straight forward head nodding hip hop and some very inspiring skits from the film which i gather is about a broke ass gym coming up(gonna buy the film very soon now). peace

finally rugged man has an album after years of 12's, b-sides, shelved albums, rugged man crustified dibbs brings his with his first full length , this is grimy head nodding dope beat dirty white hip hop, the lyrics are brutally honest from his little brother and nephew dieing young to his mess with record companies over the years, the beats are slamming, production is so tight and rugged man spits with verbal dexterity, put the cd in the first three songs are some of the best songs i heard last year, from old school tunes to nasty encounters, he name checks a lot of people on this cd, if you aint heard ra hes like a much moodier grimy eminem as close as i can get, as ra says " So when I rhyme listen, seriously
When I spit I'm givin' you the truth clearly who I really be
It's an audio version of reality TV ", you need to check this cd you real hip hop heads, anyone hoping for nelly, ja rule etc please go away.peace

4.0 out of 5 stars THINKING HIP-HOP, 20 Jan 2005
i normally not a keen fan of "conscious" rap , i normally like my hip-hop dirty and dark , through listening to necro, non-phixion, sabac is a member of non-phixion so when he released his album on necro's psycho logical records every record released from this label is top class underground hip hop, so i brought this album, read the back and thought it would be interesting, i am not a stupid guy and can appreciate any lyrics, beats wise necro carries on and shows why he is one of the best producers out there, subject matters range from police brutality(until the end), aids, secret societys(unsolved mysteries), freedom, war, peace, revolution yeah it can go on a bit about standing up and fighting(easier said then done), very inspiring album even for hardcore hip hop.recommended listening and by reading this should know if you think you want it.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT A BAD HIP HOP DVD FOR ONCE, 11 Aug 2004
this dvd is pretty good, it 70 mins long and features footage from the 1994-1999 awards, it has loads of live peformances by dmx, busta and flipmode, cash money, wu tang(with ol'dirty) among others, rappers giving awards to other rappers etc and a long perfomance by notorious BIG, junior mafia and puff daddy doing various tunes which is dope as hell, little interview with biggie, xzibit and snoop dogg doing "bitch please" which is totally awesome, the death row camp of 95/96 with dre, snoop, dogg pound and more, you get to see snoop dissing the crowds when he gets booed, this was around the time of the whole east coast/west coast badboy death row biggie and 2pac drama, suge knight dissing puffy and bad boy on stage, bad boy and death row on the same stage, also a dope 2PAC performance doing "out on bail" this is one good live song and a interview with him afterwards, i will stop now u should see for yourself

5.0 out of 5 stars THE WAY HIP-HOP SHOULD BE!, 14 Jan 2004
This review is from: The Future Is Now (Audio CD)
Utilizing beats that would do Dr. Octagon-era Dan "The Automator" proud and rhyming schemes that bring to mind early Wu-Tang Clan or mid-'90s Gang Starr, Non Phixion exposes the sound of true underground hip-hop. This is music that reflects the sound and attitude of countless rappers selling their albums out of the back of their cars or in booths on the street, cutting together dirty and disjointed sounds with a confidence and quality that is unique to this particular genre. This would all be for nothing if it wasn't for the excellent raps from Ill Bill, Goretex, and Sabac Red, a trio of rappers who have a Tribe Called Quest-like chemistry. Their clever lyrics, respectable skills, and rough voices make this an intense and dark landmark in alternative rap. The ugly funk anthem "There Is No Future" is an egotistical boast that takes the exact opposite approach of most like-minded artists, bringing up everything from atheism to mosh pits with a thoughtful twist. "Drug Music" is a bright view of drugs and music that takes a few detours but ultimately leaves the listener with a skewed view of their opinions. DJ Premier's awesome production on "Rock Stars" is only matched by his unbelievable scratching on the same track, but Pete Rock's work on "If You Got Love" is almost as impressive. But the best track here might be "Say Goodbye to Yesterday," a reflection of their lifestyle that takes a look at how it has affected them throughout the years and how they feel looking back at their actions. Outside of a few key exceptions, this sort of thoughtfulness is almost unheard of on these types of songs, which usually just brag about how bad the MC had it before they became rich. With beats that are both packed with tension and enjoyably sparse, a futuristic theme that fuels their intelligent lyrics, and a clever Voivod reference on the front cover, Non Phixion lives up to their fanfare and delivers a ramshackle collection of intelligent, literate rap tracks that points toward the future of hip-hop.

This review is from: Take Me To Your Leader (Audio CD)
zev luv x has done it again, the king of hip-hop has brought another masterpiece out, this is another of his alter-egos with king geedorah being a 500ft tall 3 headed dragon who can only communicate with humans through mf doom(zev luv), sounds crazy but it is genius and the finest hip hop comes out, no bling bling nelly crap , true hip-hop sometimes minimal beats over scrambling lyrics perfect from start to finish, this is for underground true hip hop heads
