5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Incredible!, 12 Oct. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This film is just fantastic, the conclusion to the trilogy, the end of an era. The final battles of middle earth commence in the heart-stopping third chapter of the lord of the rings - return of the king. Rejoin all your favourite characters as they strive to save middle earth from being engulfed by sauron's evil. Mind-blowing fight sequences and special effects sequences make this truly a film for collectors, and in the beatifully designed box set to. The special features provide fascinating insight into how the film was designed, crafted, and converted from book to silverscreen. An incredible closing chapter of an epic story, definitely not to be missed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Classic horror mixed with...the worst movie of all time!, 10 Oct. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ok so Freddy Krueger - living legend (well not living but you know what I mean!). Famous for his nightstalking and infamous knived glove. The first film in this series is the definitive nightmare, only one of the 6 sequels comes close to living up to this. Nightmare 1 - Nancy and her friend Tina start to have nightmares - the same nightmares about the same guy with a green and red sweater, a dirty brown hat, horribly burnt skin, and KNIVES! As Nancy's friends begin to die she has to stay awake to escape the clutches of Fred Krueger, but if she wants to defeat him she'll have to fall asleep and face him, but how can you kill whats already dead? Great premise, great story, not such brilliant acting but still a great horror flick, which is almost crushed by its first sequel - Nightmare on Elm Street 2 Freddy's Revenge. This has got to be the worst film I have seen bar none! Aside from some disgusting scenes and the fact that Freddy kills several dumb kids at a pool party in the funniest ways this film will leave you begging for the end. With main characters you can only hope will die the entire time this film is a disgrace to the horror genre. Then comes the saviour sequel - Part 3 Dream Warriors. This is almost better than the original movie with more focus on facing fears and dealing with Freddy, with light also shed on how our mind works (and then to the ignorance of Freddy because the kids who dream of Freddy are all deemed to have mental disorders). This time the film doesn't centre around the horror because there is such a good story this time. And even Nancy is back, winning formula! However her partner in this film is a very annoying and rather dim witted doctor. But nonetheless a good film and Freddy even gets killed - again (what I don't understand is if his own knives can kill him in part 6, then why not this time?). Nightmare 1, GREAT, Nightmare 2 SUCKS, Nightmare 3 FANTASTIC. 2 out of 3 films aint bad. Parts 4,5 and 6 are also rather lame but I guess you have to watch them for understanding the neverending story of it. Number 7 however stands right by parts 1 and 3. 1,3 and 7 are the best Freddy films, the others were a waste of time and money, and are also laughable. This boxset is definitely worth it though. But dont be surprised if you watch Part 2 once and never again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Just Watch This Once!, 10 Oct. 2004
Ok, so the first time I saw this film I was yawning desperate for it to end. But I thought hey I'll watch it again anyway and it was much better, the vast range of mythical characters used is rather inventive and the graphics are fantastic (though not flawless as you can tell when CGI is being used). Then I bought the video game which is extremely difficult but also fantastic. After completing the video game, watching the movie again made it even better! Definitely not one to be missed, classic horror mixed with comic relief and the romantic storyline between Gabriel (Jackman) and Anna (Beckinsale). Every time I watch this movie it gets better, trust me don't give up on it the first time! You won't be disappointed!

1.0 out of 5 stars Isn't there a rating thats below 1 star?, 31 July 2004
This review is from: 28 Days Later (2002) [DVD] (DVD)
This film does not even deserve a single star, the reason being that it does not live up to its adverts. The ads were gripping engaging and made you want to see the film, however upon buying the film you may find yourself extremely bored! This could almost be described as a family film being as the focal point is about people coming together, and the 18 rating is hardly necessary since little gore is shown. The premise for this film was great and could have been as good as Resident Evil, but was its downfall the fact that it is an English film? The director says that he chose to use digital film for this movie in order that it looked and felt more real, but all it did was make flames look pathetic and prevent the film from looking even half decent. Jim is a main character you won't be able to identify with especially due to his psychotic turn on the army members (understandable but nonetheless strange!). The ending of this film is inconclusive also. This film merely reveals how screwed we would be if such a thing happened due to the other countries abandoning and quaranting our country. The only good thing for me that came from this film was the fact that there is a piece of music I particularly liked from a car advert (called Into The House) and I was able to find that. 28 days later and you will be bored stiff, I have watched this film a grand total of 1.5 times since I bought it, not one you can watch again and again, more like one to be thrown in the bin again and again. Oh well, at least there's a Resident Evil sequel that can be depended on (Resident Evil: Apocalypse).

5.0 out of 5 stars Chaos Bleeds? Not when Buffy's around!, 6 Dec. 2003
This game is fantastic, authentic scenarios and settings, from the high school to the magic box they're great. I must admit walking around Sunnydale is a fairly new experience, but the school library was so much like in the tv show i got chills when i ran in there. The only downside to this game would be that certain characters do not do their own voice-overs, for instance, Buffy and Anya. You buy the game for Buffy, not some annoying bimbo who does the voices of both Buffy and Anya. Faith didn't do her voice either but the fake voice is very convincing. The fighting is unbelievable and you feel a real sense of power. I'd have to say though, that Kakistos is harder to kill than the First. The ending is rather unsatisfying, which probably leaves room for a sequel. The other fighting modes are cool along with the special features you unlock as you progress through the game. So, as long as you can press plenty of buttons simultaneously, you will unleash the awesome power of all 6 characters in this mind-blowing unique game! Buffy's definitely got a stake in my heart ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Brill for the Kill!, 4 Nov. 2003
This game is fairly easy to adjust to, yet somewhat difficult to puzzle out, with so many directions to go in its hard to know if you're going in the right direction. This strategy guide can help you to know where to go, and where's a no no! For maximum success in this fantastic game, the strategy guide can help no end; revealing hidden moves and secret entrances, this book unravels the mystery that is CHAOS BLEEDS. Brill for the Kill because you can use moves that you never even imagined possible with the guidance of this book that is! It helped me no end! Definitely a sound investment ;) and its also at a great price on here! I bought it for £17.99! On amazon its almost half that! Have fun playing CHAOS BLEEDS, and remember, the strategy guide is a sound investment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Edge-of-your-seat type stuff!, 5 Oct. 2003
This review is from: The Ring [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
I saw this movie twice at the cinema, and i recently bought the dvd. This remake is absolutely fantastic, well acted and the effects are brilliant. Unpredictable, terrifying, and enthralling! Lets hope that they remake the other ring films in the series. By the way, on the dvd, the special features listed are "Dont Watch This Video", "The Video" (long) and Trailer*. If you can't find the video of Samara's message dont panic cuz it is there, i found it yesterday, i was about to return it because this special feature was missing, but then i thought, "well the gimmic of this film was that you aren't supposed to see the video, so it must be hidden" and i was right. The video is hidden, what you need to do is: when you see the red arrow that tells you what you are selecting, keep pressing down until you can't see the arrow, press enter and voila, there it is, it goes straight into it. Enjoy the dvd, its an amazing, one-of-a-kind horror movie.
