by David Celani
Edition: Paperback
Price: £20.33

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful text for deepening understanding of non-psychotic patients typically seen ..., 23 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Extremely useful text for deepening understanding of non-psychotic patients typically seen in NHS secondary care. Author relies quite heavily on other sources (notably Mitchell), but presents a coherent, concise, and clinically useful account.

Great product but expensive for what it is. Large was right size for me and I'm an adult male with not overly big or small ears!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Paying The Extra, 28 Mar. 2014
Absolutely smashing piece of kit. I've been messing around for ages trying to find a decent interface that I can use to record at a high quality at home. This is it. Downloaded the software from the Focusrite website before it arrived then just plugged it in and it worked seamlessly with Reaper first time. I'm using this to record vocals and acoustic guitar and it does the job really well. The quality is 24-bit 192khz, which you won't get from one of the cheaper interfaces. If you want to get your home recordings right first time, just buy this. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Technical and (not wishing to sentimentalise) also beautiful., 17 Jan. 2014

This is a boldly written extension of the classical model. It does not contradict Freud, but complements the traditional account of the structural neuroses with striking new insights about disturbances in the cohesion of the self. Kohut writes eloquently, dispensing with much of the jargon and equivocation that characterises The Analysis of the Self (which, I'm sorry to say, should probably be read first in order to lay the ground work for comprehending this text properly - eat your greens!). I love that Kohut takes epistemology so seriously, placing his theory of how clinical knowledge is generated at the heart of his therapeutic approach i.e. via empathic attunement. I have been struck by how applicable these ideas are when working with 'complex' cases. I would highly recommend this to all, but particularly to any practising therapist who has not already digested this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid intro to great thinker, 17 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Can't comment on the kindle edition as I bought the hard copy. Have to say that my impression was that the book is actually a very sound intro to Kohut, so much so that it inspired me to read him in the original. Siegel has clearly synthesised a very complex body of work in to as simple an account as is probably possible when trying to make ground-breaking ideas of this calibre accessible to a non-specialist reader. That said, I wouldn't try to take this on if you haven't already got a good grasp of the fundamentals of psychodynamic thinking. I would have given 4 stars but thought 1 star was really unfair so have shamelessly tried to increase the overall rating!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Machine for Basic Functions, 10 Dec. 2012
This is a really solid machine and I have found it to be great in terms of its basic functions i.e. the incline works well, the motor is sturdy and capable of handling a fast pace with ease, the belt doesn't slip etc etc. It's a really reliable machine and I like the speed and incline buttons being on the handles for ease of use. What I would say is that it falls down somewhat where it's trying to be 'clever'. The speakers are pretty poor and I think it would have been better to reduce the price and not have bothered putting them in at all. Either that, or to have put decent speakers in and charge more. Also, the programmed routes are difficult to access and make sense of. Overall, this is solidly built, reliable and great value for the money. I feel fitter already and I've only had it a week. JTX were a pleasure to deal with.
