1.0 out of 5 stars ## NOT a SET of 4 ## Incorrectly & falsely advertised and Seller not very helpful, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this item as it appeared to be good value. It is advertised as "California Scents CCS-405TR Monterey Vanilla Air Freshener, Set of 4" on the Amazon website. However this is both misleading and false. When it arrived there was only one item in the parcel. I placed the air freshener in my car and to be honest I actually forgot it was in there as it has hardly any smell at all. So in summary, poor product quality, incorrectly & falsely advertised (whether Amazon or Sellers fault - one of them should sort it out) Best I managed to get from the seller after sending four emails was an offer to refund if I pay the registered post to send it back to him. As it will cost me about £1.50 to post and the item value was only £2.20 I have obviously not bothered. As of todays date (11th May 2014) I see it's still incorrectly advertised. I realise it's only a couple of pounds but if 100 customers get conned this way and no one does anything about it they are on to a winner!

2.0 out of 5 stars Scary my a#se, 3 Mar. 2013
##### Contains spoilers##### Oh dear, watched this last night, just about managed to stay awake till the end. Another 'based on true events' How many people in the states have been possessed for hecks sake. Haven't they made a film about all of them yet? The first 5 mins looked slightly promising, although initially the lady looked more like she was having a stroke than actually being possessed.
Then the film went downhill rapidly. Divorced father who sees his kids at weekend, drives past garden sale, little daughter purchases nice old wooden box, (this happened in one of the Amityville films number 47 I think, although they bought a mirror and not a box) turns out it has some evil spirit inside that wants to get out and possess someone. Little girls gets way to attached to box and then gets possessed. Parents look slightly worried even though the kid clearly wasn't looking too right and if social services had been around they would have taken her away. Lots of moths keep appearing, so father goes to some old Jewish guys who explain the spirit story to him. Once he mentions that he has opened the box they basically say "you are on your own mate...." apart from one trendy jewish guy who was listening to his ipod a bit earlier and decided to help. Cue lots of odd shouting and holering, little girl looking weirder in each scene. .. and thats about it. I've seen weather forecasts scarier than this. The music reminded me of old Hitchcock films but rarely seemed to tie in with what was happening on screen, the film was unoriginal in every sense I don't know why they bothered making it to be honest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cashing in on the Olympics!, 19 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Fast Girls [DVD] (DVD)
Negatives: The whole film basically! The acting is average, the story is so unoriginal, poor black girl living the rough life on a tough inner city housing estate, manages to get into the GB team but hey ho there's a posh white girl who's daddy is a bit of a bigwig in the athletics world. The two girls start of hating each other but by the end of the film, yes you guessed it....... there's a massive zombie massacre that wipes everyone out. No not really, but it might have been better if there was. This film lacks any originality, the script is boring and there are so many cliches that have been seen in 100 films before. I think this film was released during the London Olympics and has obviously just been churned out to try and cash in on that fact. If it was meant to be inspiring - it wasn't. It fails miserably. I'm sure the target audience (probably 10-17 year old teens) might enjoy it a bit but anyone over that age will probably hate it.

Positives: erm.... erm.... I'm searching....... erm....... oh yes there's a cute scruffy dog called Linford (Lol so funny! - not really I was being sarcastic)

1.0 out of 5 stars Should be called The Daftest Hour, 30 May 2012
So glad I did not pay to watch this at the cinema. I remember seeing a trailer and thinking that looks pretty good but no.......Another unoriginal story of a few good looking young Americans who run around trying to avoid some aliens in the form of radio waves or something similar. The acting by all concerned is atrocious apart from a ginger cat that managed to act quite professionally. I cheered loudly when any of them got 'zapped' by the aliens (this was during the periods of the film that I hadn't fallen asleep)A couple of the special effects were ok, but soon became very repetitive. I realise the budget may have been limited but thats no excuse for a rubbish story, script, acting etc etc. Save yourself some time and pray for a power cut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and eye opening, 9 May 2012

I read Richard Rhodes previous book 'The making of the atomic bomb' and then followed it up with 'Dark Sun' an equally interesting and important book that continues the story and the creation of the hydrogen bomb. Reading about the spys in America and how information was passed to soviets was as exciting as any fiction story. This book concentrates on the start of the cold war and the subsequent testing of nuclear bombs as they became more and more powerful. A truly important read for anyone with an interest in 20th century or military history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Intriguing, 9 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of the most interesting books I have ever read. I'm not sure about whether it is a 're-hash' of another book (as a previous reviewer comments) but I give this book 5 stars on its own merit. An incredible story of the discoveries that led to the eventual creation of the atomic bomb. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Absorbing and Inspiring, 9 May 2012
A truly inspiring story of one man who was forced to stand up against an outdated establishment that would not let him compete as an amateur because he had been paid £17 as a teenage boxer. The efforts he and his brother Victor amongst others had to go to so he could run (unauthorised) in races was at times comical and yet wholly admirable. The miles he covered in training were astounding (to me anyway).
He really just wanted to run, and represent Great Britain but sadly never achieved this aim, sadly passing away at a much too early age.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shark Nightmare, 17 Nov. 2011
This review is from: Shark Night [DVD] (DVD)
This film is awful! G Stephenson, you have to be joking. Usual story of a group of good looking teens without an ounce of fat on them(what obesity problem?)going camping, drinking alcohol etc etc. All the usual cliches previosuly seen in hundreds of other half baked horror films. The Hick 'red neck' types, the weird guy in the petrol station, no mobile phone signal, lots of male bravado and women screaming their heads off. The first victim who manages to 'escape' after only having his arm chewed off, initially is unconcious but 10 minutes later is well enough to stand in the very same stretch of water with a spear, shouting obscenities and waiting to stab the shark. Er..... did you forget you've lost an arm? That's really got to hurt. The special effects are nothing special although the shark looks quite real I guess (not that I've ever been very close to a shark) This film makes Pirhana 3D look like a classic, at least that had Kelly Brook in a bikini. The orignal Jaws film from the 70's knocks spots off of this film, even though the special effects basically consisted of a large rubber shark.

Save your time and money, don't even bother with this rubbish

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark [DVD]
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark [DVD]
Dvd ~ Katie Holmes

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't be afraid of the dark...well I wasn't after watching this, 28 Oct. 2011
Watching this reminded me of the straight to dvd horror films I used to rent on video back in the 80's. Based on an old British movie, it's certainly lacks an originality. Sad kid moves in with dad and his girlfriend, doesn't really want to be there, probably because their house is dark and creepy, finds dark basement and starts hearing voices that turn out to be some weird little critters that want to take her. There is not a lot of blood and gore in this film (which is fine) but equally I found there were very few scares(which isn't so fine as it's meant to be a horror film). Not that I'd ever admit to doing it but there were no hide behind the cushion moments! The young actor playing the little girl does a good job of screaming and generally looking at bit scared but Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce never look as though they were particularly challenged by their roles. I won't give away the ending but I found it a bit daft to be honest.
