5.0 out of 5 stars Best new 52 Superman volume!, 23 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really enjoyed this book. I won't spoil the plot but I will say that this feels more like the classic superman. He comes across as a lot more caring and humble than his usual "New 52" self which I feel is how he should remain .
I also love John Romita Jnr's art and think it really suits the big fight scenes.
Casual fans can also dip into this volume as there's not really any referencing to other storyline's.
BUY IT,YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

4.0 out of 5 stars Take a punt on this, it''s worth a look!, 13 Oct. 2015

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, it's a good read and easy to get into. Other than the when he appears in the Batman books and Forever Evil I haven't read any new 52 Nightwing stuff but this didn't prevent me enjoying it any less.
Although in a different setting Dick still acts like a superhero and even has a run in or two with the vigilante Midnighter (Pre-New 52 he was a Wildstorm character).
Heartily recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant statue-worth purchasing!, 5 Jan. 2015

Excellent statue with Superman looking as he should. Strong, powerful, determined and not wearing his new 52 costume!!
Excellent paint job, nice shading particularly on the cape and contrary to what some people have said I think the face sculpt is excellent!
Would definitely recommend this to any Superman fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!!!, 3 Jan. 2015
Brilliant figure. The sculpt is excellent (as you would expect from a hot toys product) and the articulation is surprisingly good. I also like the stand as you can bend and manipulate the support column which enables you to create a variety of poses.
I purchased this as it was a lot cheaper than most of the other iron man hot toys figures and I'm very impressed with it. The photos don't do it justice, this is a quality product!

I love Alex Ross's work and this is a truly great statue. The oversized "S", the glasses in his hand, upturned collar etc it all looks so good. The photos don't do it justice in my opinion. I can't recommend this highly enough, very happy with the seller as well-received it less than a week after I purchased it.

Excellent book, the emphasis is more on mystery than action but as a prose novel this is how it should be. Highly recommended

3.0 out of 5 stars Spiderman meets The Dark Night Returns., 3 July 2007
This review is from: Spider-Man: Reign (Hardcover)
This book is set around 30 years in the future. Spiderman is retired and Peter Parker is back to being a loser. Vigilantes are outlawed (along with anything that is half interesting).

Fortunately Spiderman returns to the fold once more to fight the corrupt "reign" and one of his fierest enemies.

I enjoyed this book but I'm willing to bet that Frank Miller didn't as it totally rips off a very famous Batman story he wrote over 20 years ago!

Buy it but do not expect any originality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but not amazing., 3 July 2007
This review is from: Civil War (Paperback)
An act is passed by the American Government intended to force all heroes into disclosing their secret identities to the Government as well as becoming their Agents. This divides the hero community down the middle and ultimately leads to a "war" between those who oppose the act and those that are in favour of the act.

The story is well told and the artwork is of a high standard. However aspects of the story left me slightly disapointed. I wasn't keen on some of the so called heroes being so cruel to former allies and teammates. Conversely the fight scenes are excellent and it is fascinating seeing the heroes fall out with eachother.

Generally a really good read but not as good as it could have been.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book-even without the "big three"!, 2 July 2007
52 follows on from the events of "Infinite Crisis" and shows how the heroes cope in a world without Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman(the big three!). Even though the story focuses on numerous characters it is very easy to follow and keeps you interested throughout.

I particularly enjoyed the parts of the story that feature Black Adam as his character traits are well explored (from his ruthless side to his very human side).

The artwork is also excellent throughout and each character looks as good as they do in their individual books.

My only slight gripe is that "the question" features a fair bit in it as I do find him a bit boring.

However overall this book is fantastic and I even preferred it to Infinite Crisis.
