3.0 out of 5 stars Rural Psychological Horror., 24 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Broken [2006] [DVD] (DVD)
One for fans of Cult low-budget rural British Horror. Some stunning cinematography. Tense psychological Horror, highly recommended. I will be keeping a close eye on the development of this Director.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ragn-ANORAK!, 24 Oct. 2012
This review is from: The Wild Hunt [DVD] (DVD)
It all gets out of hand as Mjoli-NERDS descend into the final battle: Ragn-ANORAK. This HAS to be seen to be believed. Genius. Instant CULT STATUS!

2.0 out of 5 stars Why?, 24 Oct. 2012
This review is from: The Wicker Tree [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
I suggest that you approach this film with the lowest possible expectations. Banish any hope that it will contain even a hint of the idiosyncratic charm of the original Wicker Man. And chances are, you will STILL be disappointed. I had to watch the original film straight after to cleanse myself. Then the mighty KILL LIST, which may just be the closest we are ever going to get to a contemporary Wicker Man-esque film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fulci Overdrive!, 24 Oct. 2012
Gadzooks! This is Lucio Fulci worship on overdrive! "Tourists" will be repelled by dire acting. Cider-swilling gorehounds will think that all their Christmases have come at once! Rejoice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique British Oddity., 23 Oct. 2012
This review is from: The Shout [1978] [DVD] (DVD)
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has fallen in love with the Wicker Man, spent years trying to find more films like the Wicker Man, only to have to resign myself to the fact that there are NO films like the Wicker Man. The bizarre idiosyncrasies are what make it such a classic. As some sort of consolation, here's a great film that certainly stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Wicker Man in terms of tone, atmosphere and bizarre idiosyncrasies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could this be the best Horror flick you've never seen?, 23 Oct. 2012
Could this be the best Horror flick you've never seen?
This one slipped under the radar but I got to see it last night and it's a LOT of fun. It certainly flirts with mainstream Horror Cinema but plenty of body horror, drug abuse and an instantly dating happy/clappy soundtrack evokes a collision between David Cronenberg and Wes Anderson. Features a scarier range of genitals than an S.T.D. manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Art Horror, 23 Oct. 2012
The subject matter of this one is about as disturbing as it gets but, as films go, this constitutes supreme immortal art. I won't casually recommend this, read a synopsis before viewing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Triumph of the human spirit, 23 Oct. 2012
A young couple are kidnapped after their first date and subjected to a barrage of physical and psychological torture. This is a surprisingly well-made ode to the triumph of the human spirit. However; if scenes of disembowelment, castration, etc are likely to offend go and watch Chariots of Fire instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Destined for cult status, 23 Oct. 2012
This is certainly destined for cult status. Gripping from start-to-finish. Undoubtedly queasy-viewing at times but ultimately fascinating. Don't watch this one whilst dining, as the scene where a man kisses a pony's protrusion is likely to diminish your appetite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Holy Mackerel!, 23 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Cold Fish [DVD] (DVD)
I've been cursing myself for not watching this sooner. Murder, betrayal, paranoia, weakness, subservience, failed relationships all with a backdrop of some very attractively stocked fish-tanks. A winner.
