5.0 out of 5 stars The West Wing - still a pleasure to watch, 25 Jan. 2004
This should be given credit for being one of the most intelligently written and executed american dramas broadcast. Having said this, it should be seen as it was intended, and not taken too seriously. It is very cleverly written and performed, but it shouldn’t be taken as realism. The creator Aaron Sorkin never intended to make an accurate representation of behind the scenes at the white house, but he does make a damn good funny, intelligent Friday night drama, which is exactly what he set out to do. The West Wing does have its flaws, however. The acting is varied from top quality to middling, with Martin Sheen pulling off a convincing president Bartlet, Richard Schiff playing the role of driven, eccentric but likeable speech writer Toby Ziegler admirably and Allison Janney doing well to portray press secreatry C. J. Cregg, but several other actors struggling to give us a steady character. The script is excellently written – fast paced to keep us hooked, funny in all the write places and gives us an intelligent take on the core of the white house activity. The sets are marvelousley built, with bright and vibrant colours and the camera work is breath taking. Some shots last continuoulsy for a minute or more, and the pace at which it is performed is enough to keep you hooked for the full forty minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars British comedy at its best, 30 Dec. 2003
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Brilliant! I've been a fan of Aardman for years, since I was introduced to Wallace and Gromit and the original Creature Comforts short. This series builds on the unique Aardman style, and is extremely funny! So what if there are only 6 episodes? It's a small price to pay for owning some of the best television comedy on DVD. Plus some great extras - what's there to complain about? If you haven't already done so, buy this DVD!
