5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, 11 Oct. 2013

A further episode in the lives of Tom Cox's wonderful, whiskery, furry felines - The Bear, Roscoe, Shipley and poor Janet, who very sadly succumbs to a heart attack and meets his (yes, his!) end in this book. But what a good life he must have had with the cad-adoring Tom! The book is funny, endearing, sad in parts and very entertaining. Even if you don't like cats you will enjoy it. Recommend!

I read this - the abridged children's version of "A Street Cat named Bob" - yesterday evening. I love it There are some beautiful colour photographs of James and Bob. I have bought several copies as presents. Good luck to them both for their fundraising with the Blue Cross animal charity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not like!, 6 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Is It Just Me? (Hardcover)
I found this book terribly dull, but then I don't like Miranda's TV series either. To me, she is not funny, just good at falling over. Think the book is badly written, juvenile and very repetitive. Thumbs down Miranda, sorry!

1.0 out of 5 stars How to be a woman, by Caitlin Moran, 22 July 2012
This review is from: How To Be a Woman (Paperback)
This is by far the worst book I have read lately. Well, I say read, but that's not actually true because I could't finish it. Extremely irritating, badly written and needs a good edit. Rubbish! Don't buy it! It doesn't deserve any stars, but as that does't seem to be an option I gave it one!

I read about Bob and James in the Evening Standard. I ordered the book immediately. Since reading it, I have ordered a further five copies to give as gifts to friends. It is a wonderful, heartwarming story of friendship and trust. I urge everyone, cat lover or not, to read it. It is an enriching experience. i hope Bob and James sell shedloads of this book - it will change their lives forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please ban David Bret from fwriting urther reviews!, 5 Jun. 2009

This review is from: Passione (Audio CD)
Paul Potts - "Passione"

David Bret - exquisitely dreadful critic!

What a prat David Bret is! (to echo another of your reviewers). Please refrain from further reviews David, since you obviously do not have the necessary sense of judgement to be a critic (you think Marianne Faithfull is the best female singer in England - oh please!). What about Felicity Palmer, Lynne Dawson, Jane Eaglen and even Jo Appleby, formerly of "Amici Forever". Since you are such an opera fan Dave, I am sure you will weighed these voices in the balance against Marianne's!

I think Paul Potts' "Passione" is wonderful listening. He is not an opera singer and does not pretend to be one. He is a popular singer with a fantastic popular singer's voice. There are actually very few top male classical singers in the world and whether they are tenor, baritone, bass or whatever, about a tenth of a centimetre separates them as regards actual quality of voice - it really comes down to personal preference - yet critics (proper ones, I mean)and opera snobs argue endlessly about who is best.

Paul Potts has improved tremendously. Good luck to him and may he bring us many years of exquisite listening.

Put a sock in it David Prat!
