2.0 out of 5 stars Skip it and go to the site, 22 Jan. 2011

Their is just not enough information to justify getting the book, you would be better off looking at the strobist website and at the corresponding flickr pool.

The book has little or nothing to do with David Hobby he does not even provide a blurb at the start like he did the other one.

The book is about the same size as a book of postcards.

The book has little or nothing to do with David Hobby all he seems to have done is provide a short blurb at the start.

The book is about the same size as a postcard although to be fair the images are beautifully reproduced.

This was an excellent book, I learned a lot from it.
I found the authors style of presentation to be very easy to follow and understand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing images shame about the book, 12 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The images in the book are brilliant. They were reproduced extremely well and with a lot of love and care.

However the layout of the book is terrible. Very roughly about 20% of the pages are blank or contain nothing but a couple of lines outlining whom the previous/future images are of and what they are wearing.

Often an image is printed at 1 and 1/8 of the size of a page and so the rest of that second page is left blank when clearly it could have been printed at just a page in size.

If you are a fan of Avedon or just great photography then I would recommend the book strongly, just try and ignore the terrible layout.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I expected, 12 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Of the 240 odd pages approximately 100 are from really old Vogues where the covers were Illustrations instead of photographs.
The more modern ones also include the Vogue title and all the random print from the front of the magazine. It looks like someone just scanned a whole load of the old magazines, although at least there were no price stickers on the images. I was hoping for just the actual photographs with no text or only the mast head.

The actual images are still stunning though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 14 Dec. 2010
I found this to be of great use when cleaning any of my sensors, both the light and the magnification help to show up any dirt even the smallest specs.

My only issue with it and the reason it got 4 stars is the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Streaks all over the sensor, 14 Dec. 2010
I had a little dust on my 5D sensor so I used this to clean it. It ended up leaving streaks all over the sensor that were visable at f11 or above.

I used the visible dust wet cleaning system (the orange swabs and the regualr sensor fluid) and it cleaned off both the dust and the streaks.

I would highly advise looking elsewhere for a cleaning solution.

P.S. I would recomend the wet cleaning system just not this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, 30 May 2010

This movie was just bad their is no other word for it well maybe rubbish or terrible or atrocious, well you get the idea.

The martial arts, what little there is of it is quite poor. The wire work is terrible.

Now I know a lot of people will say that this movie is not about the action but about the love story between the main protagonist's, the unrequited love between two of them and the doomed love of the other two. But even that is quite poorly scripted. I don't blame the actors they were doing their best with an extremely poor script.

There are also some terrible holes in the script. Why would you train the heir and humiliate her in front of the peasant foot soldiers and not in private? Who would let the sole heir to a kingdom and soon to be empress go off alone to the middle of no where to wash a horse? And how exactly did she get onto the back of that horse that was still in the lake and escape the first wave of assassins? And when we are discussing the lake how come it is only up to her ankles in one shot and in the next she is diving down to practically subterranean levels in the next?

One other thing that really annoyed me with this movie was how poor the image is in it. Who ever colour graded the movie must have been having a bad day or at least a very forgetful one as he/she seemed to forget what colour they were using from one cut to another. The giant fight scene at the end of the movie is particularly bad for the colour changing from cut to cut.

The expansion is fun, if a bit short and on my system at least, it had a lot of bugs. Glad I waited for the price to drop.

Some brilliant images are backed up with detailed explanations as to how to get the effect('s). If you subscribe to their digital magazine then you may have seen a lot of the images before but they still look a lot better printed in such a well designed and made book
