1.0 out of 5 stars Not up to the job, 8 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
OK this was not expensive but neither was it fit for purpose. Item arrived promptly, considering it was from overseas and was in one piece. But not for long. The plastic broke within a couple of weeks rendering it useless. Also the magnet fell out of the slot meaning it wouldn't close, a fault unrelated to the split in the plastic which was on the corners. So 2 faults and a disappointed daughter! My daughter doesn't "throw" things around, she treats her belongings with respect, it's simply the case that this was not up to the job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Going to have to disagree, 6 Feb 2013
Going to have to disagree and go against the popular view here.

Was going to write a lot more but you guys are big enough and old enough to come to your own conclusions so do buy it and see what you think.

My take for what it's worth though is as Victor Meldrew would say, I just don't believe it!

I've watched the entire 6 seasons so it must be good to keep me coming back for more? No! I was just interested to see how this could possibly get any worse. Ok this is drama, fiction, make believe and not having served in a max security pen perhaps I am not best placed to comment on the authenticity of the whole thing but really?

There's very little suspense. Perhaps the writers don't think the viewers have an attention span so if a question is raised, they answer it in the next scene. The guards are useless which might make things easier for the writer to allow the storyline to flow quickly but it just isn't credible.

One female guard spends a series sexually molesting and raping inmates! Really?

An inmate becomes infatuated with the female prison doctor. He arranges for her husband to be murdered (against her will). He later arranges for her to be attacked and raped as she is refusing his advances. She still ends up falling in love with him! Well you would wouldn't you!!

An inmate manages to escape. He is recaptured and while he is inside he commits several attacks, murders and gouges out a guard's eyes. Not exactly a model inmate. Death row? No just a spell in solitary. Later on in the series the unit manager is pushing for his parole. Come on!

There's too much happening and with one or two exceptions, the story lines and topics are not explored in any detail.

Eamonn Walker as Kareem Said stands out as does Christopher Meloni as Chris Keller but by and large, the actors are having to make the best of a bad job.

Wish I could have the 52 hours back which I wasted watching Oz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never written a review before but........., 30 Oct 2006
This review is from: Crash [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
I could not let this go without saying how wonderful a film this is. Thoughtfull, intelligent, I nearly cried at one point (not easy for a 40 year old male to admit to!).

Bear with it as it takes a few minutes to get going, like a soap opera take time to get to know the characters.........you will be rewarded.

Reminded me about life's priorities.
